Man I found this after you posted a link on Facebook. Over the next year I’ll be gathering parts for a 3uz swap into my 85 supra. So thankful your doing this video series, a lot of the forum posts/videos I’ve found about these chassis being 1uz swapped are a bit hacked up for my taste. It’s refreshing to see somebody who wants to do a proper tidy swap. Looking forward to using your articles and videos for inspiration!

Thank you!! Oooh, the 4.3L!! That'll be a fun one, make sure you get a standalone ECU or the A/T & immobilizer defeat boxes with the stock ECU! Yeah, photobucket killed all of their 3rd-party photo hosting so a lot of threads got messed up.

Always good to study the material again for the test. 😉 I know I've been slow to get new episodes out. Got no other excuse other than work taking over my life at the moment hahah. HOWEVER, my Miata is a ticking time bomb and that engine could go at any time. The misfires are getting bad. I have essentially a 3k mile timer to get the Celica done, and that's coming fast. I can't believe it's the end of March already.

Nicely done. I like how you have this attitude that you are simply making a show that people might like to watch. I've seen too many car channels out there that are trying too hard to be 'cool' or 'loud' or something they are obviously not. Stick with it bud, I subscribed because I too have a celica and a 1uz that are currently not together. I also subbed because your video is chill and easy to watch!

I want to do this to my 85 liftback, The engine 1UZ is bigger, I do not know if it is necessary to change the suspensions.
@winguard963 жыл бұрын
The 1UZ only adds 60lbs over the stock 22R-E, but I think you should definitely look into suspension upgrades simply from the massive increase in power. :)

@winguard964 жыл бұрын
Solid rear axle over here! I don't know how it'll hold up, but I'm confident it will. I also have a TRD LSD installed. Another popular option is the Ford Explorer 8.8" rear axle upgrade, but that's more money I suppose.

A good choice of engine for the Celicas including the MKII Supra which I'm planning to do on my 85 MKII. GREAT VIDEOS of your build btw. Thank you for sharing. I've got a question. What needs to be done or what is needed to meet California smog requirements?
@winguard963 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! For CA smog you'll need the stock ECU, all four O2 sensors, the EGR pipe and solenoid system all hooked up, and all three CARB-legal cats (two pre-cats, and one main cat). That should be for the 1990-1992 1UZs, according to my local smog guy's smog equipment reference book.
