Wow that is amazing! Can't imagine actually seeing him play live. He was the inspiration to make me want to learn guitar as well. It was specifically Statesboro Blues. I thought "what is that incredible sound, I have to figure it out!" At the time I had no idea it was slide guitar!

I first saw him with Delaney and Bonnie expecting to see Clapton as they were just coming off their European tour with Clapton and we're back in the states....1970.....I was 18....he was standing there wailing his ass off..... I had no idea who he was....he was introduced and I started following him ....I saw him next with the Allman's......what a guitar player live.... I was crushed when he died ........he was special as anyone who saw him play will attest.....

I listening this song since 71 and Itry to play. I think your positioning is almost Duan's. good job young guy Now I have storataocaster,but I want rewpaul again.

First…great lesson. Your videos are a great resource and you’re 10 times the player I am. Question - around 2:08, at the end of the phrase on the high e with the full bend followed by the 1 1/2 step bend - when return to the b string - could that be a pre-bend and release? Listening to the record and can’t tell if my ears are playing tricks on me.

PS: I too was playing for about 3 years when I stumbled onto this solo (age 18 at the time). This song too (particularly Duane’s both solos), was a turning point for me to keep at it. It is still a mystery to me how guys so young (early 20’s) could capture & reproduce that sound... it was authenticate freakin’ blues! Anyone can have “the lightnin’”, but they somehow had “the mileage” at that age as well. Dang!

For ffs! Quit stopping in the middle of a bend to go back! Those last two bars took me forever to figure exactly how many bends to make because you showed about 30 and never played both all the way through
