I put grit in my bearings to help with braking. Acceleration is over rated

A swap of bearing from one car to the other would have been a perfect test. my 2 cent. Good job on the video.

I just ordered some of that slip bearing oil. Thanks for the recommendation. I put ceramic bearings in my baitcasting reel an it made a huge improvement.

Wow... I'll be running rubber sealed bearings for outdoor off road 4x4 SCT racing, but that's amazing! One thing though... People have said this before me, but balance your tires for sure.

If your racing indoor only you may aswell take both shields out for less friction. Use wd40 to foam out the crap after each session then compressed air to blow it all out then re-oil. Grease is better than oil it cushions the balls from the wall and has far better high temp properties, grease also acts like a shield and stops water and dirt from reaching the ball and wall surface. I would only ever use grease outdoors especially in sand and dust environments never oil and always use rubber shield outside, metal shield inside. Its important to note that while general cleaning the vehicle never blow air directly at the bearing face, you will force dirt into the shield. I use mercedes approved automotive bearing grease, it does a fantastic job in bad conditions.

Hi, great text. Can you add link for this:mercedes approved automotive? What about this www.avidrc.com/product/1/bearings/133/12x21x5-Ceramic-Revolution-6801-RSZC-bearings.html ? Is this good for dirt and water? I whant to use in EREVO 1/10 . Which bearing is the BEST for water and dirt ?

@@dimyata I use acer ceramic bearings in my 8th scale nitro. I oil with rc bearing oil. I don't wash out the initial grease.

Did you clean the steel bearing and oil them. You might find they will spin much more freely and longer as well.

Christian Thompson is have to say this cheap eBay bearings that don't really spin free cazue those ceramic ones just spin to freely and you deff wouldn't want that ever in an on Rd car
@rclover8286 жыл бұрын
The only thing u need to do to new stock bearings is take the inside shields out, clean the grease off and add some light weight oil to it and it will spin just ask good ask the ceramic bearings. Its the heavy greased from the factory that slows down the stock bearings.

my stock bearings on my associated spin just as long as you ceramic bearings. Some bearings spin more freely because there is some play between inner and outer part of bearings. That's not a good thing. Car will shake and vibrate more. Are avid ceramic bearings have play?
@rcjunky24157 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the races? The rings which have a groove in them that hold the balls in place. If so all bearings have a small space between the balls and the races. You are right you don't want that space to be too big it would make the bearing sloppy. The Avid ceramic bearings have less play than stock bearings. The ceramic bearings spin more free because they are ground to a finer tolerance. Making them more true and spin easier. In the video I explain that not only do I have ceramics in the other side but also I use avid slip bearing oil which makes a huge difference but I would not use it outside. I would only use it on indoor tracks.
@smhero35647 жыл бұрын
RC Junky I've tried Acer racing ceramic bearing kits and their sin oil. Don't think there is a better oil that keeps bearings smooth and free plus for long periods of time. Can't say much about Acer bearings because I haven't tried any other brand. All I can say is that the bearings have almost no play, but they don't spin much more than good steel bearings. Now I don't upgrade bearings unless they are garbage like the ones that come with kyosho kits.
@rcjunky24157 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear you there. I don't think they are going to give anyone a huge advantage. I race stock class and every advantage I can get I try to use. In my diff video I talk about how I would not have upgraded to ceramics if the old bearings would have cleaned up good, but they didn't so I bought new ones.

The comparison is not “true”. Different vehicle, different wheels, different tires, proped up differently, different side, etc., etc., etc.

Or put both covers on after you change the oil so you don't fry your new expensive bearings. Try a free spinning front wheel and see if your happy before you go ditching seals. No offense. Just instinct.

only problem is your test is not valid most of what you gained spin wise is from pulling the seals watch this and skip to 6:15 and keep watching thought to at least 13.30 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWjMi4mciKmVn6M if you are gonna make the test valid use the avid oil in the steel bearings and remove the rubber seal in the metal bearing then do a side by side
