@@cmdrtianyilin8107 , According to the ingame data on the Global Pacifier the people on a shielded planet still survive and can presumably even thrive as sunlight can still travel through, they just can't leave. Plus with wormholes being able to be created artificially and new tech being developed it is very much possible that post-game the shield can be managed to be breach. Unlike with Neutron sweep where death is assured. Also I tend to really only use it on the Capital/Home worlds of normal enemy Empires, and colony worlds of Fallen Empires. While there is no sound in space, it would make sense that the shield generators are constantly having to adjust in order to deflect all of these particles, along with the main deflector array. These adjustments could happen within audible range for most humanoid species, and be amplified by interior spaces of the ship, causing the "sound" to be transmitted. Like on a spacewalk, things that impact your suit will send vibrations through it, either into the air in your suit, or into you directly, which causes vibrations in your ear drums and thus you hear something.

A google search suggests a nebula's concentration of gases and particles is dense compared to the universe as a whole, with somewhere between 100-10,000 molecules per cubic centimeter. However, a slight breeze at Earth-normal air pressure barely enough to register on your skin would plow through the gas of a nebula like a depleted uranium tank shell through cotton candy, since air pressure near sea level is about 10^19 particles per cm^3. Or, to put it in long form, for a cubic centimeter, Gas density in a nebula: 10,000 particles Gas density at sea level: 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 particles
