From a Canadian kid with Indian parents who is done high school, restricting ur kids from a bf or gf will make them do it behind ur back! I live in an area with Indians as a majority, and even though most parents disagree all the kids have a bf anyways. U have to understand that they r surrounded by a different culture and ur beliefs will not align. Arguing which one is better is not going to work because both have flaws. When u don’t allow ur kids to be in a middle or high school relationship they will be in one at some point and you just will have no idea. It’s better to let them have an open relationship with u and where u try to understand. No matter what school they go to, culture does not change and being in a relationship will not impact their studies negatively. I graduated top of my class and I had a bf, so try to mingle the 2 cultures and make compromises as ur kids will be surrounded with ppl who have different boundaries. Anyways, I know it’s hard being the immigrant parent and making tough decisions I just wanted to tell u that no matter what they will be attracted to someone and it’s better if u know and can help ur child make healthy decisions in the relationship, and have a stronger bond with them

I started talking to my kids about drugs, wrong touch, boyfriend/girlfriend, smoking, gun violence, etc etc etc , when they were 2 1/2 years old, I am glad I did it. Moreover, I am a spiritual person, I always direct them towards God and I fast and pray for them too. It’s a big challenge to us indeed!!! We are their role models, so we need to be cautious of how we are projecting and what we are doing in front of our children!!!

Informative video . Thanks. Cultural is thing which is practiced by most of people in society and gets inherited generation by generation . I can feel cultural clash for typical indian parents . And can understand why people come back when kid starts school . Being 100 percent American is only way to enjoy American life . Raising children in india biggest issue is highly competitive exams and rotten exam system kills from childhood to youth .rest of is not that bad . Plz make video about neighbour relation in India vs usa

Thankyou for sharing. I was looking for Indian parents. I was married to a cousin man. I came to America for college at 18. My parents raised us in International school. I was so u derailed by white Americans Christian and non to follow their rules. We need not be embarrassed about our moral guidelines..and I was raised Christian. It's so hard and it's quite arrogant living among this. A narcissistic disorder creating rifts with parents. Americans coming to India don't find this delimma instead flamboyant live out their Outlook in India as well.

If Your kid has born there then he IS american and you won't always be able to control your kid because that's the culture in USA. Shame to such a culture.

A suggestion if possible - Please change the title to Indian American parents. Using Asian just ignores that Indian civilization is a separate civilization instead of being diluted in Asian.
