Great vid and very informative! I especially love it when you show how to decorate enclosures, showing that anyone (even someone like me 😅) can easily make a simple but effective setup without it having to be expensive or complicated, and it all just looks so natural which is how you know it’s going to feel like a safe comfortable environment for them, living just like they do in the wild

Any reptile starter kit featuring carpet and small uvb is automatic fail And what was funny for me about the thermometer is that it attaches with suction cups, which I don’t think would work on a screen enclosure; it needs a glass surface or something it can stick to
@glowingsoulfire8195 ай бұрын
@@garg4531 I didn't even think of the suction cup to attach... to mesh?!! I am laughing at this all over again. 🤣🤣🤣 At least it was a digital thermometer and not one of those garbage analog ones we usually see in kits.

hey i’m am big fan of your reptile videos i have a couple of questions for my breaded dragon , so my breaded dragon name is Zeelo and he do a a lot of glass surfing and i want know maybe it might the temperature because i have a UVB one side of his cage and on the other side i have a basking spot lamp and heat lamp normally i would just keep his daylight lamp during the day but his temperature would only be 94 degrees and around 8:00 at night i would turn on his heat lamp then turn it off around 10 or 11 at night what should i do?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse5 ай бұрын
It does sound like it’s too hot air temp wise. I’d lower air temp and get a temperature gun to measure surface temp. Air temp you want it 80-85f

hey chief. theres maggots in my crickets substrate. i had to clean the entire thing out. any idea how i can keep pests out of there? also, will the crickets attempt to eat the isopods i put in there? or would i need lots of leaf litter as shelter so the isopods DONT get eaten?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse5 ай бұрын
Hmm the maggots probably eating dead crickets. Make sure you provide enough food and water. If you have isopods you definitely need lots of leaf litter. Crickets eating isopods means that you aren’t proving the right food or not enough. Mine do not eat the isopods

this is super off topic.. but i have a question about my bearded dragon (i’m new lol) I have a 3 month old and just moved him into a 120 gallon tank after finding out the misconception it’s too big is false. My question is about his basking spot. Currently his basking spot is maybe a little less than a foot away from his heat lamps, and i’m not sure what wattage to use? right now i have two 75w heat lamps. Is that too hot? Thanks!!
@ChiefSweetsUniverse5 ай бұрын
If you have a temperature gun you can aim it at the spot and if it’s above 115f it’s too hot. Or a simple way is lay your hand in it and if the back of your hand starts burning after a minute or two where you have to move it away then it’s too hot. If you feel the warmth almost like the sun feels on a hot sunny day then you are good
@beardie_mom5 ай бұрын

@@beardie_momjust like chief said remember that and also since it’s only a foot away 75w is probably good. My beardies basking spot is about 18” away and I use 2 100w Arcadia Halogen Flood lights and they work amazingly well

@@elijahchannell24 okay thank you!! any idea what that baby should have for his hot and cold side temps too? right now hot side runs about mid nineties and cold runs about high seventies
@elijahchannell245 ай бұрын
@@beardie_mom that’s perfect just make sure the hot side doesn’t exceed air temps of 100 but basking surface should be 110-115. Then the cold side as long as it doesn’t drop below 70 at least when the lights are on that’s perfect.

hey chief. my crickets keep dying no matter what i do. i usually get 200 healthy almost adult pinheads in a 18 gallon tub. i use topsoil for the substrate. i feed them frozen spinach. regardless of what i do they end up getting sick. i kept the humidity at 50-65. the fourth day i had them around 100 had already died. any ideas of what could be causing them to die so quick? also there seems to be a couple fruit flies in there every once in a while. one time there were maggots in the tub when i was using paper towels as a substrate. i try my best to dispose of every single dead cricket corpse.
@ChiefSweetsUniverse5 ай бұрын
The spinach may be doing it. I don’t ever use spinach myself I feed fresh stuff usually. You can drop some fish flakes in there as well. Make sure to hydrate with romaine lettuce if spray the tank with a fine mist every day or two. Lots of hiding places like that trap moisture as well. Orange slices are great.

So the household incandescent bulbs are gone forever anything you see is just old stock getting sold off. So you’ll now have to use reptile branded ones going forward. However there is some good cheap alternatives like flukers amzn.to/46LBU39
