I've got the same pickup, just picked up an '06 with 96,000 miles for next to nothing, it was owned by a painter so so it's not great to look at but runs great, really needed this video so thanks! Same little 5 speed V6.

Thanks, this was the video I was looking for. I have an 08' F150 just like this one except in black. It's hard to find repair and maintenance vids on base model manual trans F150's. Keep up the good work.

Glad it helped. I haven't got around to it yet, but I am doing videos on a coolant flush and changing out diff fluid at some point as well.

Hey Mark, I've been looking for a manual F150 for ages. I just saw this video. If you decide to part out with it let me know!

That is the correct oil 75w90 synthetic gear oil must be synthetic Or 85w140 carry 4 liters Those who make these videos say that they use automatic transmission oil because they are told in the autozone or orally, even in Mexico they use 20w50 motors, which is also incorrect. And in auto parts stores they sell you a special hose to pump the oil directly from the oil jug. Greetings

Great video, thank you. I have the same truck, less the AC and carpet, and plan to change the transmission fluid today. P.S. Would love to replace my rusted box with a flatbed like the one you have.
@Out-Of-Alignment2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. Make you a flatbed! Mine was all done with a cheapo harbor freight 110V flux core welder. I get all my steel used from a scrap recycling place. You can do it for a few hundred bucks if you're careful!

Thank you for this video. May I ask, what manual are you using as you perform this work? Is there a very detailed shop manual that can fully describe an M5OD 5 speed transmission that you'd recommend as a shop manual?
@Out-Of-Alignment2 жыл бұрын
I use the workshop manuals or shop service manuals, and they're great. You can get them used on eBay or Amazon.

So I'm not an expert on every Ford out there, but if you go with what's in the manual, you should be good 👍.

Hello! Not sure if you still check these comments, but is there a way to check the fluid level in these? I'm not finding a dipstick anywhere! Mine just started clunking when shifting from 1st to 2nd, so I'm hoping it's just low on fluid.
@Out-Of-Alignment Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, there's no dipstick. You can just take out the fill plug (top one) and stick your finger in it to feel for fluid. Best of luck!

@@garrettgramlich9424 Awesome, it's been a great truck for what it is. Nothing specific to this truck you shouldn't check on any vehicle. Definitely drive it and feel how tight or loose the clutch is and how it shifts. Make sure they've regularly changed oil. Fuel filter is on the frame rail under the bed; see if that's been changed ever. I did the rear differential fluid around the same time I did the transmission ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqHKf5t7q9V0nMk ) and it still looked brand new.
