Dr. Wu has sort of become the Revolver Ocelot of the Jurassic series. He's not the main villain (yet?) but he's always the top henchman, who secretly holds all of the cards behind the scenes.

People expect the jp franchise to be similar to the first so it can counted as good. But in their own ways,all 4 sequels are amazing movies. TLW:for more plot driven,jungle feeling,movie lovers. Jp3:for people who watch the franchise only for dino screentime,more action focus less plot movie lovers. 4:for people who loves the first but want actual dino rampage,and science. FK:just for dinosaur fight,action movie,more dinosaur screentime lovers

Agreed! I remember looking on Amazon to own my own copy of Jurrassic Park, just the first one. And it gave me the Trilogy, then all movies together, then the digital, then the Blu-ray. I was like this should be the first pick. The only good one was the first one, Jurrassic Park. Jurrassic World was fine, but doesn't touch Jurrassic Park. My friend a couple days ago, hasn't seen it in a while said "Dude just watched Jurrassic Park, man that movie still holds up".

Me too. I don't think anyone wouldn't have picked up on that, and it felt realistic that people would skirt talking about such an issue outright, because even if you do clone human beings, you'll feel somewhat ethically compromised and talking about it would just remind you of what you did. I agree that the reveal could have been better. I'm just glad that this issue was finally adressed at all in a Jurassic movie. It's been, like, twenty years overdue.

@ThierryVerhoeven
@ThierryVerhoeven 6 жыл бұрын
I don't really mind the idea (mainly because it was nicely foreshadowed by Ian Malcom in the opening), but it felt kinda wasted since the whole thing was never properly addressed after it was brought up. It's only mentioned, then put on hold for a while and only comes back for a brief moment in the stupid ending. No development or anything. Also, how this fit into the timeline? Because apparently this human cloning thing was the reason the friendship between Lockwood and Hammond crumbled. But wouldn't that have happened before the events of the first film? Because that was twenty-five years ago and this girl doesn't look a day older than ten...

I cared about the dinosaurs TOO much honestly. I actually thought the moral dilemma of whether or not to save the dinosaurs was a really interesting idea, I really did care. The Brachiosaurus dock scene though, I thought it was fantastic, it hit me hard. I guess this stuff really depends on the person.
@dinomking3108
@dinomking3108 6 жыл бұрын
That scene did also affect me pretty heavily. Just seeing how helpless it was and that there was absolutely nothing it could do tore me apart. If it went off the dock, it probably would have dropped like a rock and drowned and even if it could swim, the pyroclasmic flow would have spread over the water and choked it anyways

When did they make fun of that scene? I couldn't sit through the whole review, but now I HAVE to see that bit. That scene killed me at the theater. It's so poignant, like... that poor animal doesn't know what's going on. It doesn't understand why the world's on fire. And even as huge and powerful as it is, it can't escape. It's the most powerful moment in the movie to me.

That scene with the Brachiosaurus was heartbreaking, especially as it rears up to try and escape the lava and all you see is the shadow, the same dinosaur and action that introduced us to the island, ultimately is the one that sends us away. As for the whole CLONE situation, I can see in retrospect all the constant clues and hints as to the fact that she was clone, and in a franchise already heavily involved in scrambling the DNA of dinosaurs together that human cloning is not exactly what I would call farfetched. If anything it felt very Crichton and I liked that she had the line when she frees the dinosaurs, to remind us, they are not the original animals, they are at their core, modified clones. And I'm glad the dinosaurs are loose on the mainland, it was a very different and welcome change, and presents several issues and challenges to the world. Plus, loved Malcolm I'm this, though I wish he was in it a touch more. PS. Loved all the new dinos, my favorite obviously being the Stygimoloch, second being the carnotaurus.

Not so heartbreaking when you consider the scene earlier on with Claire and the hacker kid grabbing the chair, and the Baryonyx has lava drip on it and literally just shakes it off like a wet dog, instead of y'know, boring through its fucking skull and killing it. So yeah, lava can't kill dinosaurs apparently. The Brachiosaurus is fine, it's still alive. No emotion at all, what a joke.

Chiggins _ The Baryonix is an armored Dinosaur, with thick leathery plates and scutes. Most metal workers use thick leather as it doesn't burn quickly. And It naturally has a liquid resistant ability, allowing you to wipe liquid metal off if quick enough. The Barry also shows that its eye and skull were damaged by the lava when it is attacking in the pipes.

@ArmednotTriggered
@ArmednotTriggered 6 жыл бұрын
Evolved Turtle Productions It is "new," but it doesn't add anything of value to the storyline any more than Boba Fett being a clone in the prequels did. It doesn't go anywhere. Her sympathy for the dinos would make more sense if she had a connection with them other than just being alive. If there was a moment where she spoke to the indoraptor and it understood her, for example, it would have been more interesting than what happened. The movie would be unnecessary regardless of the direction it went, but at least it would be a deviation from The Lost World 2.0 with another hybrid dino that we spent millions creating only to have it die at the end. We've already seen that. If they're going to keep creating these films, then at least give us something that furthers the story.

The trailers ruined the suspense and overall vibe of the movie. There were so many times where i knew what was about to happen. And the trailers had us thinkin the dinosaurs would be loose for quite a while in the film not the last 5 minutes. If your trailer has a t-rex roaring at a lion in the zoo and mosasaur eating a surfer, i expect that shit to be the plot not the ending

Claire does have a somewhat emotional connection to the dinos. At the beginning of the movie, it's revealed that Claire and some of the park's employees were working to help save the Dinos from the island and take them to a sanctuary. So when she saw the Dinos dying, her immediate first action was to save them because she had been working for three years to do just that. However, when Owen told her there is no going back that's when she realized that up to that point all the hard work she had done would all be for nothing. Also, the experience with the dying dinosaur in the last movie probably stuck with her because she realized they are animals who think and feel.

I grew up with the first 3 movies (yes, even 3 has a fond place in my heart) and I LOVE dinosaurs. Every movie has somewhat stupid plot holes or characters acting totally illogical. Part 1 gets away with most things, but the other 2... not so much. And World had so much good going (effects, director, cast) and is still a nice summer blockbuster. But storywise... god damn, simply the scene about the Indo-Rex escaping is SO SO FUCKING DUMB. Yeah, like nobody would double check the implant or sth. like that before going inside the fucking cage. Stuff like that combined with tropes seen million times before make it a fun ride where u have to stop your brain to enjoy it. Now Fallen Kindom imo has 3 severe problems: 1. No character arcs whatsoever combined with ridiculous flat "evil businessmen & evil hunters" and 2. just the ever so often visited plotpoints (half the movie is The Lost World all over again) from the other movies. 1 or 2 homages I get. But several scenes? Common. 3. The fucking marketing. Bayona did an awesome job in directing. There would have been suspense if not ALL the 3 trailers showed pretty much every suspenseful scene or plotpoint and how it would turn out (raptor in the bedroom, T-Rex + Mosa with the heli, the vulcano escape, the bad guys, blue is needed for example). At least the movie still is beautifully shot but goddamn, it is SO stupid, that it hurts. And oh fucking yeah, just let the dinosaurs escape and kill dozens of people in smalltowns because they are alive... SO SO dumb and unsympathetic. Treverrows writing killed the franchise for me.

All the reasons why you disliked this movie, I can definitely understand some of them; however, I disagree personally on it being a terrible film. While I don't think its on the level of the original movie as other people have claimed, I saw it as great for one main reason: it actually carries in the direction of Michael Crichton's original vision. I don't know if you've ever read the actual book or its sequel, but every film in this series has borrowed some aspect from them. Fallen Kingdom was no different, in fact it went in the direction that Crichton did with the original novel: dinosaurs making it to the mainland. Look, Universal didn't have to continue making Jurassic films, I can tell you aren't very keen about it (with the exception of the Rex v I. Rex fight from the first JW), but fans of the Jurassic community like myself love this film as it's finally going somewhere different. The other three sequels all just are on an island, with the exception of Lost World (as random and stupid as bringing a Rex to the mainland was, I still enjoyed getting a taste what would happen if one of these creatures made it into society). Look at all the others and other than the revelation of there being another island of freely roaming dinosaurs and seeing an actual working park and the prospect of hybrids, they don't add much. This one finally takes a step in the direction of major change. Sure, this movie was goofy at times. Between a drugged Chris Pratt struggling to hobble away from incoming lava and the Indoraptor smirking at the camera before it kills the mercenary (which I actually enjoyed), I didn't think it was terrible. For Christ's sake, the original Jurassic Park had a cartoon sound effect play when Dennis Nedry slipped while he was trying to get his Jeep's winch to work. But I digress. One of the few things I didn't like about this movie would have to be the recent usage of the Rex as an antihero-esque character. Since The Lost World, the Rex hasn't eaten or even truly harmed a single main character. Every version of it since then has popped up as a savior of sorts. I want the old Rex that doesn't just kill the bad guys but is also a threat to the main characters as well, which leads into another disappointment: NONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS DIE. I'm not going to say I hated the Zia or Franklin characters. Franklin was definitely annoying and I kind of wished they brought back the Lowery character from the first JW instead, but he got a chuckle out of me here and there. And other than the plot demanded for a paleo-vet, Zia wasn't necessary and honestly quite forgettable. At least I'll remember Franklin's comedic moments. But back to the point, everyone who we saw die in this movie was a "bad guy" or at least people with nefarious intentions in mind. Other than the stampede in the first half, when they're getting blood from the Rex for Blue (which makes SOME sense seeing how they are both theropods), and towards the climax when the Indoraptor is loose, the dinosaurs barely even harm the characters. Hell, if memory serves me, the only one who got hurt by a dinosaur out of the main characters was Claire when the Indoraptor stabbed her leg with its claw in the diorama display. The point is that in every other film in the franchise, some protagonistic characters are killed by these things. Mr. Arnold, Muldoon and even the lawyer in JP. Eddie Car in TLW. Udesky, Nash, and Cooper in JP3. Then there's also Simon Masrani and the controversial death of Zara from JW. These dinosaurs don't care about who's what in a story. And it's not like I want these people to die a painful death at the hand of these giant reptiles, it's the fact that I can actually feel for some of these characters when they do bite the dust and drive home that no one is truly safe from these creatures. And finally lets talk about the clone controversy. Long story short, I genuinely liked it. Like someone else here in the comments section said, in a universe where we can clone extinct animals, a human clone isn't all that outrageous. It brings up some more moral conflicts but if you were in Lockwood's grief-stricken position and you had the technology, I can see people doing the same thing. But anyways yeah, Fallen Kingdom: not the greatest one in the franchise but finally one that leaves the island and actually progresses into new territory. Whether you like it or not is your opinion but I loved it none the less.

Barnacle Films, probably. Despite the fact that there is literally nothing for them to breed with. There were three predators and all of them were of different species. Four if you count the Mosasaurus. Which also isn't going to suddenly spontaneously produce more of itself. But this franchise has gone silly and that means no telling what sort of crazy we'll see in the next one.

I don't think that's the issue. Few dinosaurs escaped, sure. But the main thing is the fact that other people and companies now have access to Ingen's products. They've been shipped and packaged, and no one's stopping them from making the same or even worse mistakes that Hammond and Lockwood did.

It isn't that bad for the rest of the world. There's only like 30 dinosaurs in the world now. And the most dangerous ones( the Tex and the raptor) have only one animal left. The rest of the dinosaurs can be easily be captured(as shown in the same movie) . They'll all probably be captured and sent to Sorna within a week.

The movie got it's flaws and whatever, but i still enjoyed it. I didn't mind how goofy or all-over-the-place it was, and liked the composition of it, but i mainly enjoyed it because of the fact that it actually for once did something new with the franchise, which had been swamping around in the "people go to dino-island, screw up big time and gets stuck there"-formular for the past 3 movies. And even though i weren't a fan of the ending, i'm still glad they progressed with the franchise in some way or form, because at this point i don't really care with whatever they do with it, and if they wanna release the dinosaurs upon the world, then yeah, sure go for it, as long as you can make it an enjoyable movie.

They brought up good points but they seem to forget that even though the park is closed in the dinosaurs are free they're still stuck on an island. And you have to get them off of an island which is what this movie was for but you also have to explain why they're being taken off of the island. I'm glad they didn't rush to dinosaurs taking over the Earth if that means the next one is going to go Full Throttle with it.

I love the Ending of Fallen Kingdom this is what i wanted since Lost World, as well as the hint from the (very very very shitty JP3), Dinosaurs in our World, Free. This is how it should be. The destruction of Isla Nublar, and the Death of the Brachiosaurus....oh Boy, this was just heartbreaking, the very first Dinosaur that introduced us to this Franchise is the very last one we see on Isla Nublar, dying. I liked JW2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> I liked how the I-Raptor was more sinister (but I do agree that they should just make dragons already), I also liked how they finally touched on human cloning, I wanna see more of the little girl's story, I kinda want the next film to pick up 10-20 years later, with an evil Hammond clone (maybe played by Benedict Cumberbatch) as the villain. Also, the Brachiosaurus scene hit me right in the feels! Brachio was the first dino we saw, & she was the last on the island! This was a good bookend, IMHO, but if this isn't the end, I'd B ok with another film!

Isabella Sermon's character in the movie, Maisie Lockwood. That "look" that you speak of that she gives near the end of the movie. She's a clone, but containing...what? Just Human DNA? And it would be interesting if somehow she ended up being watched for a few hours by Jeff Goldblum's character in a future movie? Anyway, The Isle of Dr. Moreau, is playing in the background, Jeff Could mention something like, "You can only watch The Fly so many times". ;) Later, they are watching the movie together there's a scene where the Leopard character Lo-Mai asks, "Father, What am I? I call you father, yet we are not like you." Maisie could react sympathetically in some way to this. This could lead to an interesting conversation between Dr. Malcolm and Maisie about her creation...?

TLDR: Maybe just enjoying movies is a cardinal sin now. Who can keep track anymore? Contrarian opinion incoming. Personally, the reaction feels criminally overblown. I don't know what your expectations were. I walked into the theater expecting themes of 1) disaster/survival, 2) dinosaur-skinned horror/thriller, and 3) genetic engineering as Pandora's Box. It succeeded on all three counts, in my eyes. This movie is exceptionally well-timed with the rise of stem cell and CRISPR research in the real world. For all the good that these and other bio- and genetic engineering technologies can do, there is a massive dark side. (That's an entire series of videos on its own - "Do we have the right to tamper with life? At what cost?") The past four movies always hinted at how mankind would have to pay the price for inGen playing God, but only in Fallen Kingdom do we begin to see the world answering for the sins of characters earlier in the saga. We're not just cleaning up an isolated incident in San Diego anymore, and we don't have a nice, cushy, isolated wildlife preserve on Isla Sorna. (That was basically Lockwood's ultimate goal, but alas...) We see that the dinosaurs have spread across the American Pacific and Southwest, and we see the Mosasaur prepping for a surfer buffet somewhere on a Pacific coast. This could be the basis for something special in the sixth film. Much more generally, I like Bayona's infusion of horror into the Indoraptor. (I'll have to find his previous works at some point.) I rather enjoyed how it was shown to stalk and skulk about the mansion, and its predatory behavior is worthy of the velociraptors before it. That scene where the hunter failed to extract its tooth (and died) had distinct echoes of Muldoon's "Clever girl..." scene (and other scenes hinting at raptor intelligence) without being a direct copy. Bottom line: flawed, but nowhere near anathema. Plenty to enjoy in this movie, with some missed opportunities. Perhaps a "diamond in the rough" for the JP saga.

did anyone else notice that an auction that had probably had thousands of dollars put into it was taken down by 1 Pachycephalosaurus? like they didn't think to add extra defenses or security just for that situation ? youre auctioning dinosaurs. they also said something about only having 11 species and two carnivores or maybe I misheard, but I think there was more than that so I'm not sure how many dinosaurs are now loose on the world it didn't explain it very well or I just wasn't paying attention.

C'mon now Doug, how can you not see that human cloning fits into the whole theme of the Jurassic series and it's overall message? I wager you've never read either of Michael Crichton's novels because if you had you'd likely agree that had Crichton continued writing more books instead of lending his talent to the movies, the whole human cloning thing is exactly something he'd of written and I'd suggest it may even have been him and Trevorrow who fleshed the idea out for this movie. Is it a bit jarring to have it shoehorned into an already pretty busy film? Yea, it's not pulled off too well but it does do the job of explaining why Hammond and Lockwood would fall out and never make amends. It's one thing to clone dinosaurs but quite another to clone actual people. In the world that Crichton came up with, this is a twist that fits and for some reason seasoned critics such as yourself absolutey tear this movie apart for that. For simply having the audacity to stick to Chrichton's ideas. Anything good about the film is roundly ignored by critics for what is seen as an absurd twist. If you'd like to understand what I'm getting at check out Klayton Fioritie's channel for a review by someone who actually gets the whole idea of Jurassic Park. Either way you and Rob are entitled to your opinion but I totally disagree.

Paul Hannah I at first thought it was stupid for Maisie to be a clone. But then tumblr happened and now I can’t stop thinking about Claire and Owen adopting Maisie as their daughter. What the hell tumblr?

Blue was actually the only Velociraptor alive. It was mentioned when they were displaying what dinosaurs were to be brought onto the ship before they went out to the island. Someone mentioned that she was the last of her species.

My two biggest flaws: 1. The Nanny/housekeeper didn't tell anyone when she was fired. She seemed to think of the girl as a daughter and may have been the mother of the original. So what motive does she have to not contact the police about all the dinosaurs and hosting of the auction? She may have even suspected murder. Would have ended the movie pretty quickly. 2. Why sell/preview dinosaurs after the $40 million or $100 million mark? A business plan usually has known amounts. If they only needed so much money to start their business, then they'd know the amounts. The more dinosaurs you sell, the more likely someone is to replicate the cloning process as the one guy said. So selling more after you have the capital needed to make billions doesn't make sense. Then the fact that you would need to spend time to make up the loss of the indominus raptor doesn't work out. Why it was an adult when it needed a "mom" is unknown too. Just the whole plan seemed to go from a business model to just wanting money now.

As a major fan of the franchise, I enjoyed Fallen Kingdom. I can look past all of the nonsensical parts of the film, plot holes, and the slightly disappointing climax because I thought the dinosaurs still felt real, which is a big part of what made the original Jurrasic Park film successful in the first place. The CGI in The Lost World, and especially Jurassic Park III has not aged well. The latter is the equivalent of a made-for-TV movie.

Wow, I strongly disagree. The scene with the raptors cornering Alan Grant had a seamless transition from CGI raptor to an animatronic raptor. It looked better than anything in both Jurassic World movies, same with The Lost World. Every single creature that wasn't an obvious animatronic doesn't look or feel real in the JW movies, they made the mistake of overusing CGI even in the close-ups making it even more obvious CGI, unlike the first two sequels, including JP3, which used way more animatronics, especially in the close-ups to show they were actual objects in front of the camera and not cartoons.

No, what made Jurassic Park succesful and loving are the characters and the realism of their portrayal. It isn't just a stupid movie about dinosaurs eating people. Also, The Lost World didn't use as much CGI as Jurassic Park III and the other two movies. And it did age well. Go watch the movie again.

EXACTLY! First people are disappointed that Jurassic World was a copy of Jurassic Park, but now that they are advancing the story and going down a new path, people are PISSED AT THAT? Like make up your fucking mind. Be satisfied or keep your opinion to yourself because Fallen Kingdom in my opinion was mind blowing. I can NOT wait for the third. Wow.
