On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

The sheer amount of engine power the F-4 had for its time is incredible. That it can maintain those speeds through turns is a testament to this. That a valid defensive measure is to just blast off into the sun is honestly quite hilarious. Of all the aircraft we've ever designed, we by far got the most value out of the F-4. They served in so many roles over so many years, and could have served for even longer (there were considerations by Israel to re-engine them to give them a positive thrust-to-weight ratio, meaning they could accelerate to supersonic going straight up like the F-22). Just in terms of pure quality, ruggedness, adaptability, and longevity, the F-4 comes out way on top. It's sad that we don't build aircraft like that anymore.

I definitely enjoy all GS videos I have seen but I do prefer BVR over dogfights. I also prefer objective based missions hitting ground targets and/or bombers over everything else. Those are by far the most interesting videos IMO. Hope to see more of those soon

My local air national guard base switched from f-4’s to f-16’s in the late 80’s. It’s pretty neat hobby master made models made 1:72 scale f-16s of them last year and this year they have the f-4 coming out. The f-4 has f-16 painted all over it x’d out in no smoking looking signs showing how many f-16’s the instructor pilots in the f-4 won over. 12 of them. It has a tiger painted on both sides and is in the green and gray camo.

Love these videos, I’ve learnt so much over the last few years. I do have a question though. When you fired at the f4 as soon as it began tracking you straightened up. Surely if it had missed you would have been out of place and potentially in trouble. Would it not be better to hold your circle until impact? Can’t believe I’M asking YOU a question like this.

@@404-u5fNope, that’s No. 43 Sqdn, RAF. My father flew the FG.1 Phantom (F-4M), though not with the ‘fighting cocks’. His Phantom specifically was XV498. Whilst the pain scheme on the video was RAF, the Phantom in the video was the US F-4 type. The British Phantoms were a little fatter due to the Rolls Royce Spey engines, slower at high altitude, faster at low altitude and recognisable by the different nozzle type.

They were mostly based at RAF Brüggen, RAF Wildenrath, RAF Laarbruch and a couple at a forward base at RAF Gütersloh, though there were some back home at RAF Coningsby (my old base), RAF Wattisham, and in Scotland at RAF Leuchars which is the livery you see in this video.

It seems like a one circle should mean rate fighting since both planes are making one and two circle should mean what one circle actually means since both planes are making 2 seperate circles, at least in my mind lol. I wonder who decided on what to call them?

The 1 circle is actually both aircraft making a half circle equaling one total, the 2 circle is each aircraft making its own but they are overlapped, we also have an offset 2 circle which looks like a Venn diagram
