I love that you are so REAL. Kids playing noisily in the background, recipes that fail, trying again and again until it works because you didn't give up, redeeming the "ruined" recipe giving it new life as a S'more Pie!!! Not sure it was your intention, but you gave so many beautiful life lessons in this one little video. Thank you!

Dear Sonya, I am not Jewish but I can watch your channel all day long! I've learned so much about your culture, your religion, and life in general! You have such a soothing voice! It's so easy to listen to you! I wish you were my physics teacher back in the day! I would've passed with flying colors! Although you share your recipes and customs, I think the most important thing you bring to the world, is that, at the end of the day, we are all human beings just trying to the best us that we can be! Ty for showing that we aren't as different as we may think. Blessings to you and yours!

Hi Sonya! I used to own my own Chocolate shop where I created my own hand dipped chocolates. You cannot get any moisture in the chocolate as you are tempering it (melting and bringing to a certain temperature to be ready for dipping) or the chocolate will seize. You weren't having trouble melting it - the chocolate got water in from floating in the pot and it seized. At that point you really needed to throw it out and start over. Tempering chocolate is like making meringue...very easy to ruin it. We are all on a journey learning from one another. My youngest son (we are Christian) is engaged to a lovely Jewish girl so I watch you to learn ways to make my soon to be daughter in law feel welcomed into our family by incorporating both our beliefs, so thank you for teaching me! I hope in return I was able to assist you! Hanukkah Sameach!

I love that you teach your children how to bake and cook. It's such an important lesson and it makes them happy and create a lot of memories. I used to put my little girl on the counter so she could see what I was doing while cooking. She was always eager to help and we talked about the dishes and why they had to be cooked this way etc. She is now an acomplished cook and make all her meals from scratch even if she lives alone in a tiny student apartment. I will try making latkes this christmas. Happy chanukka to you and your family from a fan in Norway.

1:26 The food processor is just a box grater on steroids. It’s goofy to believe there is some ‘difference’ between the two. The only way a difference would exist is if they used a blade that wasn’t similar to a box grater style. Otherwise, it’s a mechanized process identical to the hand grating via box grater. Some people are so goofy when it comes to their understanding of basic principles of mechanics, and methods. lol 😂 Anyway, those latkes look delicious! I have always used the old school one featured in the New York Times an eternity ago. It’s absolutely amazing!!!! (I’m the apple sauce gal.) Can’t wait for the decor video! I’m crossing my fingers for some unique approaches to decorating. So many of the decorations out in the commercial realm are so blah. With your talent, I’m positive it’s going to rock!!!! 😃

B"H your children have positive examples for a happy childhood . may you all always be blessed. of course your orthodox viewers know to only buy kosher marshmallows. others may not be aware that the usual brands of marshmallows are not kosher. the " hechsher" kosher authorization symbol must be on the package. easily available in kosher food markets. otherwise can be ordered on line. happy hanukkah. happy Chanukah. both spellings are ok. both spellings are pronounced the same. the " h" starts the word off.

If it is any consolation, I have done the chocolate thing! It is wonderful for the children to see that sometimes things don't work out perfectly. We are human and we make mistakes, and there is no life that doesn't throw a person about a bit... It is how we deal with it, of course. Fall down, learn to stand up and keep going. Not afraid to fall again, because we got up once, we can do it again. Sorry. We were talking about chocolate and I went all philosophical, lol.
