So interesting to see Marc and Jon in the process of creating what I was recently privileged to walk through. It truly will be a very special experience to see and enjoy as it continues to evolve and grow. Marc has such a creative and beautiful vision for this special property. I’m so appreciative that you are taking the time to share this aspect of your lives in a more detailed way than was possible on the main channel. Your gift of this extra time and effort is appreciated. And, I think understanding your vision for the gardens helps me see why you make the choices that you are sharing on your other channel. The two channels together are a unique insight in to the immense tasks before you. Well done all!

We love visiting the Lost Gardens of Heligan in the UK where a huge long-neglected and VERY overgrown garden was brought back to life over many years. The title of the vlog immediately made us think of Heligan, but this project, I am sure, will be on at least the same scale, if not more dramatic! What a wonderful vision to develop gardens as well as plant a vineyard and live sustainably. And all while restoring a beautiful chateau and raising a family, oh and not forgetting all the other buildings!

There are palm trees and trees that look tropical in that way. So I understand there are many ways to make gardens in England and other microclimates look lush and tropical but “palm trees” is such a generic term that many of that we think about would not belong .

One of my thoughts when hearing you planning the garden is having some kind of plant with red leaves. I live in South Korea, and the contrast in leaves between the Korean maples/Japanese maples and the green foliage is really beautiful. However, from what I understand both of these species require water, and I know your region is quite dry. But perhaps Marc knows of a species that has similarly beautiful red foliage that can deal with dry conditions?

I can't wait to see how the gardens develop! Marc, you mentioned perhaps planting bamboo in your tropical garden; isn't it an invasive species? I know from other areas in the world where bamboo is a plague, hard to control. I don't know how/what it would do in your climate zone - it might be cool enough to keep it in check, but then I don't know how hardy bamboo can be.
