I can think of 1 possible excuse for the Eggman machine that gets sanded down over time: Eggman might have first designed the protection capsule to withstand a certain set treadmill speed, then designed the treadmill to speed up to match Sonic's speed, but then forgotten to go back and check if the protection capsule's base could still withstand the higher speed.

So yeah, Knuckles as he was digging could feel the presence of Chaos energy approaching which was getting stronger and stronger by the second and he knew that when that energy was the strongest he would go up and ambush him.

So I remember a theory as to WHY Tails can fly without his tails getting in a knot, but I don't remember how to describe it. Basically they're both on a single joint that let's them spin around without getting tangled up. Edit: I found a better theory. There’s extremely rubbery cartilage where there should be bone. That combined with a mutated bone structure that makes the tailbone connect to the hip the same way a shoulder would. Eventually his tails would tangle up, but he doesn’t fly forever.

Now, your head sits on your spine, on the so called "atlanto-axial joint", to be exact. Its one singular pivot joint that connects your head with your body. Tell me now, can you spin your head like a helicopter blade? Obv. not, because around and inside that joint there is alot of tissue, muscles, arteries, ligaments, nerves, etc. that stop that joint from spinning like a propellor. And we know what happens if someone's head gets twisted beyond that... I hc that Tails just alternates his tails between going clockwise and counter-clockwise really fast so it looks like they're spinning, cus no matter how you put it, flesh cant go through flesh and it also can't twist multiple revolutions around it's axis without tearing. In a way Cream's way of flying make more sense lol.

The reason the Sonic 3 rocket/big arm boss fight won't let you walk off and die is because in the original, you couldn't walk off at all. The widescreen format adds screen space past the edge of the platform where in the 4:3 format there was no pit, so rather than let you die to a non-existant original hazard, they added updraft.

12:01 having the rocket removes the need for the propellers as the wings is what causes the plane to fly not the propellers, the propellers just provide the force that moves the plane forward, propellers can be feathered (change in the angle of the blades) to stop the windmilling (spinning) and that would keep the blades from being damaged

You can tell because Angel Island is floating again (Sky Sanctuary Zone is the most blatant indicator of this, but you can tell from the start of the game because Angel Island Zone shows the sea in the background of Sonic's story while it shows the sky in the background of Knuckles's story), and things that happened in Sonic's story (like the ghosts being freed from the capsule in Sandopolis Act 2) have already happened before Knuckles gets there for the first time. The Death Egg is also absent from Launch Base Zone (and Lava Reef Zone later on) because it's already been launched back into orbit and then destroyed by Sonic.

In the background of Knuckles's fight with Mecha Sonic the island is heavily unstable and wobbling, and if you don't collect all the Chaos Emeralds (allowing Knuckles to retrieve the Master Emerald when Sky Sanctuary collapses) it falls back into the sea.

23:04 Actually they fixed that oddity in Origins. You can now be Super Tails with all the Chaos Emeralds, and when you have the Super Emeralds, you can be Hyper Tails, which is like the Super Tails with the flickies in the original. Great video as always though!

Worth noting that Super Tails with the chaos emeralds was only added in S3K, thanks to Headcannon working on it for Origins. They did not do further work on any of the other games, and since they didn't add Super Tails transformation with the chaos emeralds in those games in their original releases, they didn't get it here.

"How can you breathe in space but not water?" I've really never understood this mentality especially when it comes to the Dragon Ball franchise which the Sonic series takes a lot from anyway. When you're underwater the water will fill up your lungs unless you have some way to filter out the hydrogen from the oxygen. Space has oxygen in it not a lot but some. Presumably Sonic can either survive on very little oxygen, hold his breath or just doesn't need to breathe at all except for when he's underwater because the water is filling up his lungs. edit: also another thing I don't really understand what this mentality is things that can breathe underwater can't breathe in space I'm pretty sure if you took a fish and stuck him in space I'm pretty sure it would not be able to survive so why is the logic that if you can't breathe underwater then you can't breathe in space even a thing? I really don't understand it I know it's for the sake of a joke but still

water has dissolved O2 in it. there's a lot more breathable oxygen gas in water than there is in space. also, things that breathe water aren't filtering oxygen from hydrogen, they're filtering oxygen gas out of the water. also the main problem with space is that it's essentially a vacuum, which would cause oxygen to leave your body each time you tried to breathe

I actually loved it. Great nostalgia for $10 a game. I believe this is the first and only collection that you can play Sonic 3 and knuckles together thus allowing you to get hyper sonic, super tails and hyper knuckles. The only bug I saw is I did notice the tails getting stuck and constantly jumping once.

That one with the 'Dash Zone' is hilarious! I actually have a bit of a possible explanation for that. Within British/Victorian English, Dash is also an expletive on the same order as damn, the term 'Dash it all!' being a famous use of it. Not sure why the translator wouldn't use a spanish form of damned instead of the f-word, but there is at least a connection there.

8:50 see this is a very common mistake. Many people assume that tails has two separate tails, in reality, he has one tail that split into two ends, so the tails do not have to pass over each other and get tangled like most people think.

I assume this comment is sarcastic, but on the off chance that it's not... The tails having separate bases or a shared base doesn't solve the tangling problem, because the problem is cause by anatomy. In order for his tails to spin like helicopter blades (facing opposite directions and spinning) they would have to be separate from his body, otherwise his muscles and skin would tear after a full rotation, even if his tails were on a ball and socket joint. The closest you could get is if the tails start by pointing in opposite directions but rather than magically rotating at the base, they simply bend around in a circular motion and bend over/under each other when they cross in the middle (rather than try to pass through each other and getting tangled). This could perhaps create the illusion of them spinning like helicopter blades.

I gotta say it: It's actually really hard to freeze to death in space. Asphyxiate absolutely, but not freeze. Just like how sound needs a medium to travel through, hence there being no sound in space in reality, heat requires a conductive medium too. Stars shed heat by actively emitting radiation. People, and hedgehogs for that matter, don't emit much radiation. If you opened a bottle of water in space, for example, it would actually evaporate rather than instantly turn to ice like in movies.

Not really, in Sonic unleashed egg-man specifically used a machine with the purpose of painfully ripping the chaos emeralds out of Sonic and draining said emeralds of their Energy to the point that they all become dull and lifeless. Knuckles just casually punched Sonic in a form that might as well make him god in their world and not only didn’t loss his hand but knocked the emeralds out of him. Which is double weird when you consider that from what we’ve been shown Sonic canonically beats Knuckles in base form when they do fight.

Turning Super and somehow skipping a whole boss REALLY seems like an issue Sega needs to fix, along with some other errors, and hey! Headcanon theory about Super Tails, don't take this too seriously. I believe that most characters that interact with the Emeralds directly are more attuned to it, gaining a bit of Chaos Energy. Sonic has this energy due to being in constant contact with the Emeralds, Knuckles likely has it due to his bloodline and connection with the Master Emerald, which is like the main control, and Shadow was created with Chaos energy. Tails, however, has little to no Chaos Energy within him due to less time spent with the Emeralds. When all 7 are collected, a being with a good chunk of Chaos energy can transform into a super state, and the Super Emeralds, which are the Chaos Emeralds supercharged by the Master Emerald, allows them to basically "overclock" and become beings of pure Chaos Energy. Since Tails has no Chaos energy, or just very little, the Emeralds wouldn't be able to give him a super form due to that lack of energy, but the Super Emeralds could pick up the slack. In that case, the Super Emeralds could let ANYONE go into a Super Form, it's just that those who use the Chaos Emeralds already have enough energy to go Super, so the Super Emeralds make them go Hyper instead.

My theory for knuckles punching the chaos emeralds out of super sonic is that sonic wasn’t using his full power. The chaos emeralds supposedly has “unlimited energy” that even sonic can’t tap into. I think sonic has the ability to concentrate the degree of power he uses. Since he was only gliding across the water and didn’t even know knuckles existed, he might have thought he was safe, meaning that he limited some of the energy because sonic doesn’t need enough energy to glide because that is his form of walking in super for so knuckles could only punch them out of sonic because sonic was “weakened” in a sense. But hey that’s just a theory. A GAME THEORY

My personal headcanon is that while Super is *always* invincible, irregardless of whether Sonic has his guard up or not, Sonic's connection to the Emeralds is not. Since Sonic had his guard down, his connection to the Emeralds is easily disruptable, something Knuckles who knows to manipulate the Master Emerald on some degree could take advantage of. So the "cheap shot" only worked because Knuckles used his knowledge of the Master Emerald to sever Sonic's connection to the Emeralds and cancel his Super form. It wasn't a case like when Krillin tossed a rock at ssj Goku and it hurt because he wasn't expecting it.
