Very clever idea indeed good thinking again Paul. Similar to your idea of grinding timing side crank journals just enogh to clear the wear and then bore the under size bush to fit !

i had a rzv 500 that jumped out of second gear under acceleration and acted like a car auto box kicking down that was a salutary experience I tell you

G'day Paul, thanks so much for the tip on the gearbox I'll try that, a good trick of the trade, Question ⁉️, my Super Rocket 🚀 has a HC 10/1 engine and when rebuilding about 400 miles ago l tightened down properly and yesterday when ridding it did a head gasket, any tips, when bolting the head down again, thanks mate, Neil 🤠.

My sr500 jumps out of second, only changing up not down, have to hoof it in solidly then it doesn't jump out. I know it's the dogs worn, it's done 63000 miles I've dressed them up on another old engine with a diamond file and it cured it, the bottom end has never been stripped down on the yam yet, will dress them up when I do. Early yams were noted for dodgy gearboxes

I would very much like to ask you about the gearbox of my T120R OIF 4speed. Because of - in my opinion - too much play around the clutch basket I dismantled the gearbox. And the main shaft was worn out where the 4 th gear sleeve runs. The wear of the shaft was the most where the sleeve bears the gear. I can't tell what acts of violence the previous owner commited against her. Be that as it may, I had to grind 8 thousandths (0.2 mm) in diameter off the shaft to regain a perfect surface. Fortunately the bearing surface still has 61 HRC. Now I have to produce a new bushing. So far so good. Or are there undersize bushings available? On the other hand I'm not so sure if the original spiral oil grove inside the bushing is a good idea. I think that grove kills the lubrication wedge at any point of the bearing. I also wonder if the large groove in the middle of the bushing doesn't have more disatvantages than advantages. Did you ever try a thinner oil in the gearbox to ease the lubrication? Cheers!

If you are making a bush, it would be best to replicate the scrolled oil grooves, they were put there for a reason! A new mainshaft shouldn't be hard to find, though. Perhaps someone ran the primary chain too tight, to cause the wear. I often use 20/50 mineral oil in my gearboxes. hope this helps!
