Welcome to the first episode in a new series, Cheap Thrills. Today, I'm joined once more by my friend Josh. Instead of his Porsche Boxster that you will have seen in Episode #4 of Soft Top Showdown, he's brought down his Audi S3 8P to feature in the first of this series!
It's actually a pretty rare car, that can be picked up for a pretty reasonable price!

This new series is brilliant. The S3 is the perfect entry. For next maybe an bmw 330 Coupe, Golf 6 GTI, Ford Focus RS, Toyota GT 86, Subaru WRX models and for sure something from Alfa Romeo

So after S3 you would like mk6 gti which is fwd? What’s wrong with you? I get you if you would like the focus rs for the 5cilinder engine but still...fwd. Only the BMW or the Subaru would deserve upgrading to. The bmw for the thrill of playing with the rwd and the Subaru WRX Sti for that 5cil 4x4. Still...I wouldgo for the rs3 if I would have the money. Definetly sportback.

Had my Sportback S3 8P for over 3 years as a daily .. I can not fault it.. stage 1 and 3”downpipe has it at 327hp more than enough to throw about !!!

Am going to look at an 08 plate 84,000 5 owners. They gunner put a new cambelt water pump tensioner, for me if I have it anything else I should be weary of cheers???? Never had a s3

Good point about the wingback seats. Only thing that would put me off about them is if a would be wrongun who knows their Audi's looks through the windows and sees them, they know how much they're worth to sell as parts. There was a string of RS4s that got broken into specifically for their wingback seats in London a few years ago!

Just bought 07 S3 what a tool , defo a fun car . Ive owned impreza, ep3,A5 QUATTRO, audi tt QUATTRO yea the S3 is way up above them defo go and buy one S3 you won't be disappointed

Enjoyed this and a great idea for a series, no doubt it will make me look at auto trader straight after each video 🤔 thing to consider with a cheap thrills powerful car would be the running costs and maintenance once you buy one!

I am going to look at an 08 plate at weekend. With 84000 5 owners said they would put cambelt water pump an haldex service on before I buy it’s already ad one change at 60.000 I have never ad a s3 anything else I should be weary of ? Is it worth buying an using az a daily? Cheers any advice would be nice 👍🏻

Where did you get the wheel hub caps from? I ordered some after market and ones that were 135mm as they all seem to be that but wouldn’t slot into the gap. I’ve the same alloys as yours and I’m assuming they’re 225/40ZR18’s. Did you buy new ones or keep old on. Any help would be much appreciated thank you 🙏

I think you should be ok, best thing to do is some insurance quotes though, as factors that effect cost vary for everyone!

No need to change the chain @ that low mileage. The belt that drives the water pump yes. The chain, no! Unless it's obvious (noisy or long mileage)....

based on the fact the owner doesn't know what the map is ... if i was the owner i'd get the car Dyno'd immediately and if it is tuned i would have it remapped by someone trusted. a dodgy map could bend a rod. i would never trust a car 'that might be mapped' ...

@@itsjoel my point was - if i didnt know who tuned it i would get a new remap on it. a dodgy map can bend a rod. i've had this happen to me. R-Tech map would be the safest choice

@@mj23bt32 Had it dyno'd at 340bhp, did some research into who mapped it. It's a stage 2, R-tech map and have been safely running this for 2 years now, so don't worry hahaha!
