Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes - You Suck at Cooking (episode 117)

Scalloped potatoes, sometimes known as potatoes dauphinoise, often known as potatoes au gratin when cheese is added, usually do not contain scallops and nobody knows why.

RECIPE
Select three medium russet potatoes, or cusset potatoes if you’re immature
Slice them 1/8th inch thick and throw any that don’t measure up against a window
Par boil them for 3 minutes
Par strain them for 20 seconds
MEANWHILE IT’S SAUCE TIME
3 tablespoons Butter: melt it in a sauce pan, which is a good pan for sauce
2 chopped garlic cloves: give them a nice hot butter bath
5 tablespoons all purpose wheat dust (flour) slowly whisk it in until it’s smooth and cook it for a couple to a few minutes
2 cups/500 ml milk: slowly whisk it in until it seems like you never had a golden smooth garlic mixture there previously
NOW IT’S FLAVOR TIME
1 veggie bullion cube: crumble and wangjangle
½ teaspoon salt
2 - 3 teaspoons mustard dust
Some pepper pepper pepper
Continue wangjangling until the sauce thickens, which will happen rather suddenly so keep your wits about you
Then add in a handful of cheddar if you want and take it off the heat
Put the potatoes and every molecule of sauce in a big bowl and fold them over until covered
Spray chemicals into a 9 X 9 baking dish and dump in the stuff
Put a layer of gruyere cheese on top if you want
Add a tin roof
350 for 45 minutes
Remove the tin roof
15 minutes or until browned on top
Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes
Serve on a plate and get scared by a potato lantern and also oddly stimulated when it starts dancing

At the end of with BWB episode YSAC does a quick 5 second "abridged" version of the recipe and, I guess it's implied Babish followed YSAC's recipe to the letter but it's hard to call it a collab when neither were involved in the cooking process of the other persons recipe it'd be like saying the sweatshop that makes ps4 controllers collabbed with the sweatshop that makes PS4's, they didn't they just worked on two seperate parts of a thing and those things were brought together

Hey, important note: if you peel a russet potato and the inside looks green like the top one at 0:30 then that potato contains solanine, which is a neurotoxin. ***Not just the green part, the entire potato contains solanine.*** Yukon Gold potatoes look like Minecraft rotten potatoes when they have high levels of solanine. One or two green potatoes probably won't kill you but it will give you one hell of a headache and possibly blur your vision a bit.

I’ve officially watched every episode of YSAC and I feel accomplished, I know of the times when the undo used to be called union, a time when wangjangle wasn’t a term brought into existence, when John and Douglas were just two buddies who had that one special night. When pimblokto was just a robot trying to cook for ysac, the sweet journey of that pierogi. A time before the triple P, a time before YSAC was told by his dad to stop cursing. Thanks for this, I tried the recipe & tweaked it a bit & it tasted awesome. It helps if you soak the unboiled slices in some vinnegar for about 5 mins when u leave them in water before boiling. Also i used quick ranch powder, pepper, thyme tea & chilli powder after the garlic in the rue and honesty wasnt bad

Another much more easier recpie Take 4-6 potatoes and peel them Discard of the peels and cut them into circles then cut them again into fries, but make sure they are not too thin for your fork Pre-heat your oven to around 250 degrees then put your potatoes in a dish whit the lid on for a full hour After an hour take the potatoes out Grind up some cheese but first pour sour cream for cooking (pretty much sour cream but in a liquid form) then dump your cheese on the potatoes then put them back in for another 10-15 minutes depending on how burnt you want your cheese to be Quite easy and I'd highly recommended
