Ha! I know Anne, and Dr. Essy as well as the rest of the crew. Dr. Essy bailed me out after a lethal heart attack in 2010 in Chiang Mia, Thailand. I follow the Essy nutritional lifestyle religiously at age 89. Personally, I can vouch for the incredible care Essy and Anne have provided me. I left the hospital with an insane bag of meds. I refused to take all the meds and was sternly told that I'd die if I didn't take the meds. I replied that at least I'd die free of chemicals. (Have not seen a cardiologist since.) I immediately started searching the internet for options - first found Dr Ornish and shortly after Dr. Esselstyn's book, "Reversing Heart Disease....." Its been read and reread numbers of times. Anne and her husband are international treasures! And, they have a thriving community of followers in Chiang Mai. Chef AJ, you do fine work..... Carry on! Jerry in Chiang Mai

Dr Essy eating plan did in three months what none of the meds did in YEARS. God Bless Essy and Ann! God blesses their family because they have given their lives to save OUR lives!!! 💕💕💕💕

My parents lived until 87 and 92 years old and never looked their ages! The only things that they didn't eat were beef and pork and they worked up until three days before they died. I knew many people also in my family who were vegetarians and died in their sixties and seventies. I'm 67 years old and I looked like am in my late forties. I rarely eat rice and beans and just as my late parents, I also don't eat beef and pork. I don't take flu shots and I've never got the flu. I didn't take the Covid vaccines and I didn't contracted it either! Thank God 🙏 I personally know 6 people who got Covid AFTER taking all the Covid vaccines and boosters too!

Absolutely loved this! Thank you, Chef AJ, for helping us get to know Ann. I've never watched either of you, but have seen and heard about you both in the plant-based community for years. Wow, so inspiring. Our family is now whole-food plant-based for over 5 years (2 little kids and a third pregnancy currently.) Ann makes me excited to get older! She makes 87 look so fun and happy! And, I think that's one thing she can be proud of: I've shared this on my FB to hopefully help inspire those that may want to but are still scared to go plant-based, to see that it's healthy and safe, and in fact, 87 very rarely is how Ann is - healthy, happy and vibrant... And Chef AJ, I loved getting to know you as well! Thank you for bringing this content to us, it's so valuable!

All my high school friends are fat and sick. I'm 43 now, and whoa....at our 25 year reunion, I almost couldn't recognise anyone, they had become so distorted by obesity. Maybe 10% of them were slim, and I was by far the leanest person there, and there was one other person eating a WFPB diet, and they looked great, and was obviously in very good physical condition. It was pretty disturbing to see those who used to be hyperactive teenagers with BMIs of 20, now fat, dulled, and sluggish. Why do we do that to ourselves!?!? I'll never understand it.

Food in the store and advertising bad products as good, plus pressure to live an unnatural life style would do it. Many of the people I knew died in their 30s, some late 20s. The few around are and were health conscious, liked exercising and getting out in nature, and ate as well as they could so they did all right body wise. The ones who died young had cancer, a couple had accidents. Lots of cancer in young people. Chemicals everywhere and bad lifestyles.

Thank you so much for this. I've seen Ms Esselstyn with her daughter Jane many times, and together they're charming personae. But this interview gave me a much more detailed impression of her as an individual. I found her to be intelligent, thoughtful and relatable. She is unvarnished, and seems to live an authentic life, supremely comfortable in her own skin. The standard question about pride was answered in an atypical way, and that was wonderful. Aren't we all ridiculously pressured or shamed into leaving our marks? Her joys seem to come from her experiences with her loved ones. Here here. Thank you as well for mentioning the terrific Japanese film "Afterlife." It's one of my favorites. Thank you Chef AJ for all you do for all of us, and for all the animals. And this series on older vegans has been superb. Kudos.

What a privilege to listen to these two amazing women! Thank you for sharing. Just an aside, the red pistachios were died to cover unsightly stains on the light colored shells. One company started it to make themselves stand out in the marketplace, and then everyone else joined in. But then they developed harvesting methods that prevent the shells getting stained, so its not necessary to dye them. Possibly being influenced by red dye becoming unpopular.
