No need to wash rice to make a risotto! That starch is needed to bind. ;) It's also better if it's not wet because it must be dry roasted first, like nuts or seeds. In Asia they wash it because they prefer less starch and each grain should be separated from the others.

Okay, you just said something I've been waiting for weight loss experts to say for years... which is that the average woman needs about 2400 to maintain their weight. Almost every diet plan I've seen cuts women's metabolisms off at the knees by insisting women need far less than they do to maintain, so it pushes women to carve their food intake so far down to the bone that they're starving, it backfires and they binge. Every time I hear a friend say they're dieting and only saying 1200 a day I want to cry..but that's bc I have good, consistent, moderate weight loss at even 2000 a day. So to me I feel like I'm wasting away with overwhelming hunger pangs at anything less than 1600. And I'm not severely overweight, although I do carry roughly 30 more than I need to be considered a healthy bmi. Thank you thank you thank you for making the point that most women need on average 2400 a day to MAINTAIN weight. That's so significant and incredibly validating to hear.
@ChelseaMae3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree and I did an in-depth video on how many calories you’ll need to eat to lose weight, shocking to many most women will lose weight eating 1800 a day easy! We’re all just eating way more than we realise.
@jessicastephens15683 жыл бұрын
I'll check that out. Ty!
@jessicastephens15683 жыл бұрын
So something you might find interesting is I worked with a nutritionist about 13 years ago (as a co-worker) and he said that the average person needs around 15 kcal per pound to maintain at rest. Of course that's a very generalized number that can be influenced by many factors, including gender, age, etc. But! I found that was a really appropriate guesstimate for myself and have been using it since. And moving from my early 20s to my mid 30s it still is true so it appears my metabolism hasn't slowed down too considerably during that time. So a 170 lb person, sorry I'm American and don't use metric, they probably need around 2550 a day to maintain. What he told me, and what I've been following, lines up pretty well with what the research you're using shows. Just thought I'd pass that along.

OK.. these burrito bowls ❤️🔥 might not be so "hard" dropping/"releasing"🧘♀️ some LBs 😜 I didn't have any zucchini ('courgettes' sound so much fancier 🤩 might start bougieing up my lingo w that) anyway.. so, I made mine with a bunch of diced onion, peppers, etc that I and prep in batches and keep in the fridge when I have kitchen downtime. I did do the 1.5 sweet potatoes, grated (that was a new experience 😳🤷🏼♀️) I took some soft cherry tomatoes we keep stocked all the time for salads, and I quartered those. I put in a can of southwest corn, Rotel, black beans, and pinto beans. and I took out a bag of premade rice I have started stocking in my feeezer since I started following Chelsea's platforms.. ( genius 🤯 practical idea btw) I dumped some (🤷🏼♀️4-5 TB) of my jar of homemade taco seasoning in there I made when I was feeling ambitious, bunch of minced garlic (not fresh 🤷🏼♀️ but momma's gotta do what momma's do) and we're serving them with sliced avocado and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. oh I got some cilantro today to make it feel extra mexican-ey 🤤 my kitchen smells Amaze! turned out DELISH 10/10 highly recommend. thank you Chelsea ❤️❤️❤️

just wondering if you total the salts in the tin beans , vegeta stock + msg, packet spice mixes you use.... its a lot... you have woolies in NZ... look for the low salt tins of beans which are cheap, we have them here in Australia... that would lower the amount of salts etc in your diets which is important..... your meals look quite nice.
