I was rewatching the rating climb vids to improve my game and the best thing I noticed about Nelsi is that no matter the opponent level be it 400 or 2000+ he always makes his moves assuming that the opponent is going to make the best move possible. He doesn't underestimate and break protocol and play hope-chess even with the lower rated players even though he can and win with just a few moves if he did. Truly a master 🙏

Sometimes 1400's lose out of nowhere and sometimes they play like gms and you wonder who taught them playing like that. The only thing most of them have in common is that their time management isn't there yet. They need to slow down more in rapid games and they easily get like 200 rating points.
@Romans8-93 күн бұрын
Makes sense considering she is 1650 in FIDE.
@danielyuan98623 күн бұрын
Yeah I think that's why. Players who naturally play fast appear much stronger against slower players because the extra time that you spent thinking on your turn is significant compared to the time they spend on their own move.

Would love to see the alien gambit for this rating climb. I super chatted it during your last stream but you didn’t know the line. It’s in response to the caro. 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nd2 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Nf6 5. Ng5 h6 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 Engine refutes this opening but I have a 80% win rate with it at 1675 elo. The idea is black has severely weakened their light squares and you will get extremely rapid development after Bc4+, Nf3, and O-O. Pressure the e file and try to land a knight on e5 with check. Love the videos hope to see this opening in a future one!

I really enjoy your vids. I was watching Levi but have, since, started watching you more. You're less annoying and are so human and very transparent with your breakdowns, thoughts and admissions of error. Martial arts philosophy states that once a teacher loses the willingness to learn from students he has lost all ability to grow. You acknowledge threats and challenge from lower rated players and, in doing so, allow yourself ego-less opportunity for improvement. Thanks, very much, for all this free content. Cheers to you.

Wow! Game 1 - Such a rough start (Rook & Pawn gone, Knight invasion) and yet instead of chasing the Knight away You exploited the weaknesses! Its Amazing how that pawn on F6 was triple defended though in just 3 moves you not just broke into their defence but won the game. A masterclass! Was wondering why didn't they just castle instead of defending that pawn that too with their King, no less!?

Yeah, that's the main threat in this position, because after Pawn promotes, Rxa1, Kxa1, the black king just goes up to g2 and has an unstoppable pawn. If white tries to check, black could just go down, probably losing the pawn but getting a queen.

At 46:37 I can't understand why you didn't place the bishop on f4, supporting the knight, supported in turn by the queen on c1, instead of going for the nonexistent pin on g5. The f6 knight is going to come in anyway. I think you were playing hope chess, wanting to take the f6 knight and mess up Black's pawn structure. Anyway it would have prevented a lot of heartache afterwards.
