Aggressive picks - “Grab Thy Hand”, “Another Know It All”, “Family System”, and “Get Some”. Songs with Pete doing falsetto, belting, and/or howling: “ Clones”, “Roswell’s Spell”, “Highland’s Apparition”, “This Circus”, and “Piñata”.

Oh this song. 11 years ago i was listening to Sci Fi crimes a lot. I also had a new puppy, had him from 2mo to 6mo. At 6mo he got his shots and had an allergic reaction to the rabies vaccine. Blood in his lungs he fought to breathe at the vet for two days and just couldn't make it. The line, if you ever enter my mind, stay there, you'll live. Reminds me of that little guy, i had hoped a part of our pets sticks around and maybe he would hear my thoughts. Can't listen to this song without tears. If you are a dog lover i guess you will understand.

Easily my favorite song by Chevelle. Admittedly I haven’t listened to a lot of their tracks, in general, but still.

I love Chevelle, I always have. I remember seeing them live for the first time about 15 years ago. It was amazing. They're the type of band that sounds great both live and on record. They're the type that you hit like before the song actually plays just because you know it's gonna be good.

I love this album. Probably my favorite album. It's cool finding someone who reacts to Chevelle, Tool, and Opeth all in the same channel. Porcupine Tree is another masterpiece band Prog Rock/Metal.

It's so funny going back and listening to this before you really knew the band. You went from "I really like this guy's voice" to "The Pete Effect" in a very short amount of time. 😂

I heard, or read somewhere sometime, that the inspiration for this song came when someone actually stole one of Pete's guitars after a show, but then ended up returning it because they felt bad about it, and wrote a letter to Pete (and/or the band) apologizing, hence the title name of the song. I wish I could remember where I heard that, but that's been my understanding for many years.

Saw another comment recommending Roswell’s Spell. Definitely one of their more stand out songs. Another is Fizgig. A lot goes into that song. Honestly just pick a random one from their list and you’ll probably like it. Just subscribed!

Chevelle has been my favorite band for some 20 years now, no question, it's very hard to pick a favorite song tho nevermind 'best'. but i can suggest a few songs that are way on opposite spectrums. for the heavies; another know it all, an island, don't fake this, in debt to the earth. and for the mellow/melodic; a miracle, endlessly, the meddler, revenge. all well worth the listen, on youtube or otherwise.
@MusicCatsandCoffee3 жыл бұрын
I can help. The best one is Closure. LOL :D I'm obsessed. It's a problem.

I'm gonna go ahead and recommend the song "Peer" from the first album "Point #1". Hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to, that might be it. "Grab Thy Hand" is a very close second.

This was one of many songs I played when I was a part of a cover band for a short while. I was reluctant at first but our singer was a huge Chevelle fan at the time and our local rock station played it like five times a day. There's an old video of us playing it on KZbin. I cringe everytime I see it. lol

Anyone: CheVelle- CheVelle fans: DID YOU SAY CHEVELLE??? I love them!!! I am not making fun. I am 100% one of those fans. Their gear was ripped off while they were on tour in Fort Worth, TX (why does it have to be where I am???) in 2007 - guitars, amps, everything . They eventually recovered a few of the items including two of Pete’s favorite guitars. The song was “inspired” by that.

I love those kind of fans! And about the song, yeah, I never would've guessed that! :)

I'm glad you liked this song. It's hard to pick when there are so many good ones. Not sure if anyone has mentioned to you the band, Royal Blood. They also make a lot of good music. "Hole in your heart" is a good one to check out if you get the chance.

I can't think of a bad Chevelle song. They're pretty consistent. Besides the "Wonder What's Next" album (which has "Closure"), my next favorite is "La Gargola" and the tracks "Twinge" (very chill) and "Choking Game" (much heavier). If you're gonna do one from "Wonder What's Next", I think "Family System" would be a good one (someone else mentioned it below as well).

WHAT?! :D No it's cool, but Closure is firmly stuck at #1 by lyrics alone. But I like the idea of a challenge to find a Chevelle song that I'll like better than Closure.

Hey Lauren, you should totaly check the band called Thrice. In my very personal opinion, they have most complex and interested lyrics and music. And I still think that their vocalist Dustin Kensrue one of the best lyricis of our time. You can start with album called ‘The Alchemy Index’. This album have a four songs related to one of the Four Elements of Nature (Fire, Water, Air and Earth). Stylistically, this songs shares certain things in common with the final song on every other disc of The Alchemy Index. They are sonnets, their lyrics are all written in iambic pentameter, and their final two lines share the same melody. In this songs the Element is talking to Man, telling its regrets about mankind. The Water sonnet, ‘Kings Upon The Main’. the Air sonnet, ‘Silver Wings’. The Fire sonnet is ‘The Flame Deluge’. The Earth sonnet is called ‘Child Of Dust’. And they have a tons of other awesome songs.

Ya might want to use a better lyrical video if you can find it. This assumes that Apple Music is correct of course as well as my own ears but the line about “defend it” should be “to fend it” blah,blah, blah. Sorry but I’m picky 😘
@MusicCatsandCoffee3 жыл бұрын
The lyric video is the last thing I add when editing and I don't see it until then. Most of the time, there's only one to choose from for these Chevelle songs and there are usually mistakes in them. But I just stick it on the screen so you all have something to look at. :)
