Chevrolet Impala police car. Renovation of Corgi Toys model no. 481.

The Chevrolet Impala was produced by Corgi Toys from 1965 to 1969. Previously, this model was created in the "state patrol" version with a one-piece body, without a plastic insert inside the body. The model I am restoring today was missing two tires and a signal light. It also did not have an antenna. I repaired the damaged parts and made stickers according to the original in the form of decals. The model is constructed in such a way that the side stickers could be glued only after the whole thing was assembled. Originally they were made of paper. I also made a copy of the original box in which the Chevrolet Impala was packed. Thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. When my brother and I "played cars" with our cousins, this was one of the favourite cars out there because (1) it was American and not another Opel or Austin, and (2) we'd all seen them on the streets. Of course, you had to be the local sheriff, but that was kinda fun, too.

A beautiful restoration, Maestro!! I confess I am not much of a Chevrolet guy. I remember this body type, and these Impalas from my youth. They were an omnipresent fixture on the roads. Much like the 1952-4 Chevys. They just never seemed to die. Mopar and Fords of that era were much more my style. It must be a testament to marketing or something to generate such brand loyalty in me at such an early age. But I had, and have it still. The chrome painted ring around the cherry light on top was a neat trick!! Best, Stephen

What a great little car! I’ve always loved the ‘59 Chevy and our family had a Nomad wagon back in the day! Wish I had that car now. I’m surprised that Corgi chose to make a premium priced, flat top Impala into a police car instead of a Biscayne. When you have a chance, the “eyebrows” above the grille should be painted black.

It's true. Budgetary constraints often had GM's Chevy's in their fleets as pillared sedans. Cheaper than hardtop Sport Sedans and usually the cheapest models which would have been the Biscayne or the Bel Air, only very rarely the Impala, but also as a pillared sedan. with it's curved roof line, not the "patio roof" so named for the extended rear roof overhang. Just plain less expensive for fleet buyers. The Sport Sedan was the name used by all of GM's brands for their hardtop models except for Cadillac.

Ciao, Paul. Complimenti per questo nuovo restauro! Anche questa era messa abbastanza male, eppure l' hai ricostruita meglio che nuova e come sempre la cura del dettaglio è al TOP ! Sempre meglio Parlando del modello, non conoscevo questa Impala in versione della polizia della Corgi, ma si riconosce l' elevata qualità che contraddistingue questa marca famosissima tra gli appassionati di modellismo. Il design delle auto americane anni'50/'60 appare sempre un po' eccessivo, così come le loro dimensioni. Un saluto !!!!!

You did an amazing job as usual and restoring that car. One thing that came to mind though as I was looking at it, it looks very similar to the police car they used to use on the old Andy Griffith show. If you ever run across another one you should make it into a Mayberry police car from that show that would be an interesting version to have.

If you just trimmed back the roof to allow the whole back window to be seen. you'd have a true 4-door sedan (saloon) and not the 4-door hardtop (sport sedan) with added B pillars which Corgi used and was always wrong. A worth it alteration.

Tak mnie ciekawi jedna rzecz .. bo z tego co zauważyłem to do chromu używa pan Molotow liquid chrome ? .. ostatnio zastanawiam sie czy kupić coś takiego bo aerografu nie mam a muszę jakoś pomalować zderzak auta i choć na nierównych powierzchniach to ładnie wygląda to na płaskim kawałku plastiku nie wiem czy dobrze by to wyglądało gdybym nakładał to pędzelkiem...(auto skala 1:24) teraz nie wiem czy w tym wypadku marker Molotow chrome nie byłby lepszy niż ten w płynie nakładany pędzelkiem ..co prawda jest trochę przykładów na tubie jak malują i na jednych wygląda to świetnie a na innych kiepsko.... no bo kupowanie spray revell chrome (około 100zł +wysyłka) trochę boli finansowo.

skala 1 do 24 nie jest taka duża. bez problemu można to pomalować miękkim szerszym pędzelkiem. ja bym troszeczkę rozcieńczył Liquid Mołotowa alkoholowym rozcieńczalnikiem Mister hobby. najpierw położył na zderzak podkład a potem równiutko dwie warstwy rzadkiego liquidu i efekt musi być świetny

@@PaulRestorer no właśnie jeden dzień wcześniej kupiłem marker molotov chrome z końcówką 4mm i faktycznie fajnie to wygląda, tylko potem uznałem że 4mm to za grubo żeby dostać sie do zakamarków zderzaka a jak próbowałem mazać pędzelkiem to już widać było ślady po ruchach pędzla .. być może dlatego że za mało tego płynu w te zakamarki doszło i wygląda to jakbym pół suchym pędzlem jechał..no ale z daleka nie widać...

@@PaulRestorer Ciekawi mnie czy gdy pan używa tego molotova chrome (co prawda ja mam marker) ale po pomalowaniu oczywiście efekt jest fajny ale wystarczy przejechać paluchami i z chromu robi sie srebrzanka i nic nie dale przecieranie szmatką albo czymś innym ... po prostu ta warstwa połysku sie ściera albo matowieje .. ja na szczęście mam lakier bezbarwny do zaprawek lakierniczych i w moim przypadku zabezpiecza chrom .. być może delikatnie traci na połysku ale to i tak lepiej niż to co widać po przetarciu paluchem albo jakąś szmatką.
