I understand you go around and help mechanic shops with diagnostics. I also get the keys fob programming. How a shop would not check and clean a throttle body valve is beyond me. It’s simple maintenance on vehicles for over 20 years. Great video.

Throttle bore and plate checking and possible cleaning should be done when weird idle problems are there. I've seen so many dirty bore and plate areas, that it's a wonder those engines ran! Good one Eric!

when I first opened my shop I cleaned a Throttle body on a Cobalt. I sprayed the shit outta it with brake clean. I hit the key and that poor ecotec 2.2 screamed to 10k probably. It was running on the brake clean. Engine survived but I learned a thing or two that day.

It's not a good idea to spray too much. I just spray a few times around the throttle plate.

I don't have any personal experience with the Icon scan tools, but it seems to me like they license the same software from Launch which is great. Topology is a feature for more expensive professional scan tools, so it all depends on your budget. Thanks for watching!

Wire. I just removed mine, used CRC throttle body cleaner and reset it. You can clean it much better with it off. Just 4 10mm bolts.

It was by wire. Honestly I've been cleaning them this way for years and have never had a problem. I can understand some peoples concern but I also would recommend sticking my fingers into one with the ignition on. You never know when the computer will decide to just let it close. Seems odd that throttle bodies are getting dirty like this on a regular basis even though air cleaners are being used. Where is the dirt coming from? If folks don't keep a clean air cleaner, it still should remain clean i suspect.

take the throttle body off and clean it DO NOT move the butterfly and never use a screw driver on it. this can and will work most of the time but dont chance it. do it right

Never use brake cleaner to clean your throttle body.. always use throttle body cleaner... Companies like CRC make specific chemicals to clean the throttle body with the objective is to not eat away at the protective coating on the inside of the throttle body that's some manufacturers have put on the throttle body... Again always use a specific chemical that is specified to clean the throttle body
