I remember Terence Stamp talking about one of the more subtle ways he wanted to show Zod regarding everyone he met as being completely beneath him, was to have him deliberately not quite look them directly in the face, he does it a few times with different characters & it's brilliant. The one, true Zod.

3:01 I love how General Zod hasn't even seen Superman in the flesh, but just the very IDEA of some 'superman' defying him, standing up to him, putting him in his place is enough to send him into an emotional tailspin of rage lol Stamp was perfect in this movie.

When I first saw the movie, I couldn't help but smile when Superman tricked him into thinking he had lost all his powers. Terence Stamp REALLY delivered as Zod. This movie would never have felt as epic without him. True, movies need strong heroes but they also need an equally memorable villain and Stamp almost stole the show.

Even though Terence was in the first Superman film for only a few minutes, he shone in it, especially for the defiant speech he gives Marlon Brando: *"You will bow down before me! First you, and then one day, your heirs!"* So, technically, that was his comeback film. But *"Superman II"* was his full on comeback. Gave gravitas to a character that was nothing like the version in the DC Comics. Terence Stamp made that character better.

Strange thing is, he played mostly good guys. His debut was as Billy Bud which established him as a pretty boy actor. He definitely aged out of that by the time he was Zod. I think he would have been a great Thufir Hawat in Dune. Although I do like Stephen McKinley Henderson. Of course, if Stamp had been Thufir, Villanueve probably would have still cut him him out of Dune 2.

I could never ignore,that the 3 villains were only supposed to have the same powers as Superman,but yet Zod displayed telekinetic powers by using his hands to move ppl and objects, without touching them.They never explained how he was able to do that.

I was 5 years old when this movie came out. I remember thinking how much I loved it when I was a kid. I don't think that magic was ever captured again in a Superman movie. Don't get my wrong, the other Superman movies were good, but this was different. When I was in grade school, our principal put this on VHS for our class and we screamed when we saw the title come up. I don't see kids doing that with today's movies.

It's not the quality of the film. Kids just have more content these days, which is a good thing. If we went back 150 years in time, we could probably get the same screams just by handing out some pretty mid lollipops in a London classroom.

not gonna lie, I thought when Christopher Reeve kneeled before him, right before turning the tables was the sweetest moment of this movie. It was the ultimate example of "be careful what you wish for" in response to Zod's "kneel before Zod!"
