Same here. I was a victim of multiple men when I was a child. Literally carry that fear and trauma in my body all the time and I’m 24 years old. I was laying down just now and my freakin shirt touched my neck, and it made me uncomfortable. If there is a hell, every man that touched me and anyone other kids will be going straight to it to feel the discomfort that they put us through. Because to be real, the discomfort I feel in my body after what these guys did to me when I was a helpless child, is close to what I think hell would be like. It's all part of austerity measures. I've seen it happen here in Belgium. Under the guise of " punishment doesn't work " all sorts of programs were started so criminals wouldn't end up in jail rather in therapy with conditional release... It seems a lot of the guys caught for these sorts of material, tend to have pretty poor impulse control. Even a measure as simple as disabling biometrics, while not terribly convenient, would’ve made investigators jobs a hell of a lot harder. That isn’t to mention other easy methods one can conceal their identity online. It’s not hard, but it takes care. Something mercifully lacking in a lot of these perps.

I have a friend who is a police officer. He transferred to Homicide after investigating Sexual Crimes against children because he needed something less devastating to the soul. He's a good man, and I worry for him.

A lot of them also become desensitized which is why there are therapists that specialize in helping police officers in their position.

@@matthewradtke9573 my dad has been an officer since 2008. He’s seen horrors I can’t even comprehend. He’s said some of the worst cases he has to show up to are suicides, often really messy. The worst case he had to go to was a baby/infant (can’t remember exactly which) who was left unsupervised and started climbing up a dresser, which tipped over and crushed the poor thing. They do get therapy, but not enough, and it’s not always the best quality. Just the cheapest bidder the city will pay for. But even then, my father is a very different man than we was before. Much more stoic and emotionally cold

while I agree that they should be locked away no bond is a slippery slope. I was arrested for a hit and run that caused a 12 year old boy to lose his leg. I was innocent but my car was used in the crime and cops simply wanted an arrest to make the people happy. Yes I looked very guilty considering my car was found in my garage damaged. But the day it happened I flew to London for work and I was in the air when it happened. My ex made a copy of my keys and her and her new bf stole my car and hit the kid after leaving the liquor store. I went through hell and after 3 months finally got a bail I could afford and my house was in foreclosure my car up for repo and more. luckily the family of the kid found out I didn't do it by accident when the father went to the liquor store and got talking to the owner who had video of her driving my car. But had it gone to trial I'd have lost everything. But I got lucky and the victims family actually helped me to not lose my house........so while he's guilty you can't just forget about innocent until proven guilty. because innocent people do get locked up especially with lazy police looking to close a case

To be fair, he's not actively assaulting children (that they know of). There seems to be a misconception that him possessing child porn means he's the one creating it. He would most certainly not be out in that case and he'd have a lot more charges than just possession/distribution. He served 3.5 years for 2nd degree sexual assault of a minor 20 years ago (which could mean many things as there are several different factors that make it 2nd degree, some less egregious than others, such as being 18 and having sex with a 16 year old). I don't know what this guy did for that charge but he's been in trouble recently for possessing/uploading child porn that he found online. Hopefully he still ends up going away a long time for it and he very well may, especially given his priors but as with virtually any non-violent crime, he has a bond. Though, maybe he shouldn't get another bond when breaking rules of the first no doubt..

Just a note on the term, "Child Pornography" - there is no such thing. The images this human uploaded were the filmed rape or sexual exploitation of children, i.e. evidence of a crime. This just happened to the guy that lives a few doors down from me last Tuesday. 3 cop cars showed up at his place, he wasn’t home so they searched around for him a bit. He came home as the cops were still at his house and they took him away in handcuffs. Found out later on that he was on the internet trying to get 2 little girls under the age of 12 to send….you know what kind of pictures of themselves to him. He sent pictures of himself….again, you know what kind of pictures, to them. One picture had his face in it. What he didn’t know was that he was really talking to the cops on the internet. He was already on Megan’s law. So they matched his picture with his face in it to the picture on Megan’s law and arrested him.

Sounds more like something that calls for at least probation (so there's an assigned officer who could randomly check up on them and etc.) and obviously registration, but then again, they have to first convict, so the next best thing until then, is to not set any bail/bond amount due to him breaking bond conditions the first time, so he has to wait in a jail cell. Of course considering his history, post conviction, he likely at least should get the book thrown at him which will likely include lengthy prison time and/or lifetime supervision/probation along w/ lengthy or lifetime registration.

It takes time to get the information needed to get the warrant (such as who was using what IP address). Large companies like Spectrum and AT&T gets tons of police requests daily from all over the country and simply cannot answer them within seconds.
