They always will sell out a woman. “First to apologize is the bravest, first to forgive is the strongest, first to forget is the happiest.” They never fight unless on their terms and they’re all being housed in America, “land of the free, home of the brave”-welcome to this circus. They only fight once you put em in an enclosed cop car and their true colors come out - it’s never at the doorstep of “their property”. Also, I love when they read him his rights and add in “if you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to you AT PUBLIC EXPENSE”. Not always do we get that tid bit of insight.

Just to be clear, in case you ever try to get a driver's license renewed in my district, an officer entering a chase is not police escalating the situation. 90% of what you think is police escalating is in fact the criminal escalating said situation. The cops didn't decide to flee from a lawful stop, the cop didn't decide to fight instead of go in peacefully, and the cop didn't decide to escalate use of force. Every situation you want to think it's the cop escalating it because of people's reaction to police, you are likely dead wrong.

This is a fact. I was a cop for 5 years and very few fought the actual arrest. But a huge number got jail courage in the back of my car. Most lost that attitude by the time they got to the jail for processing. It happened so much that I figured it was an adrenaline thing. They were amped up and nervous about getting arrested and the rush manifested itself in this kind of behavior. Like I said, by the time we pulled up to the big gray building with bars, the tough guy act was mostly gone. The reality of going to jail took over.

I got arrested for some f boy shit and gave the department my mouth the entire time. Most people just shut up cuz they don’t know if a pig will falsify evidence or beat u with ur hands behind ur back. Cops are the biggest hypocrites in the world, they hand out tickets and arrest people, but will never arrest one of their own. Most people don’t wanna bother with the bacon anymore. I know they stalked my Facebook and saw what I had to say about them. And I really feel like my life was in jeopardy cuz these cops showed destained behavior towards me and already falsified statements towards me in a different instance . Do yourself a favor and trust the police. The amount of time and resources they spent to catch a punk young kid driving fast is pretty sad, there are real criminals they should be looking for.

Anybody see those videos where dogs go crazy aggressive at each other when there is a barrier, but then soon as the barrier drops they tuck their tails? What is it about the “criminal mastermind” that unleashes this same behavior once they’re in the back of the squad car???

It's nice to see a police dept not go crazy trying to chase a speeder/offender and risk causing their and others' lives to be taken. Unless a person is on a shooting rampage or they know something is going to happen they should never pursue to where it's dangerous.

Yes that seems to be the shift since the old crown Vic’s have been phased out. Policing strategy went from chasing speeders and whatnot to the more safer way of just getting them at home. You can see this with the new Tahoes departments have been picking up, built less for speed and more for officer safety. Overall, this new strategy has spared countless civilian and officer lives over the years.

The chases have their reasons to be valid. - Car can be stolen and you never find this guy. He keeps stealing other cars and keeps driving like that until or even after he causes an accident and kills someone. - Owner/driver can claim he was not driving the car that day. Driver is free to keep driving like that endangering everyone around him - Plates are changed/stolen or belong to another car, making it almost impossible to track and allowing the driver to keep doing this. Its really hard to tell how worth it they are to be honest. I think it probably depends on the time of the day, traffic, how much information they can get about the vehicle/owner, and other things. If its a stolen car and traffic is light I think its definitively better to chase and try and get the rat out of the streets. (Or follow with helicopter or other means if possible/available)

The only problem is that criminals don't care much for the public safety anyways. That's one of the reasons why they're doing crime in the first place. Just listen to the absolute disrespect of the guy when they're taking him down to the detention facility. Does that sound like a guy who would care about obeying traffic laws, let alone killing a whole family in a car crash when taking his yellow Mustang for a joyride? It doesn't take a police chase for that to happen. I feel like taking criminals off the street while in the act rather than taking this long route ensures that they can't commit even more crimes or go underground in the time it takes for cops to find any leads. But if people feel safer about having criminals on the loose while the police do investigative work on their whereabouts instead of having it dealt with on the spot, then good on them.

It's a "pick your battles" thing using appropriate evaluation and strategies. If all you have is a moving violation (not usually a crime), they're in town with people everywhere, and they're driving something that is easily is going to pull away from your squad, you make notes and let the rest of the shift know. Maybe you get lucky later. If it's someone that, at that moment, is known to be wanted on a serious crime, there's a bit more of a justification to try and make the catch. That still doesn't always justify a chase, but there's certainly a more compelling reason to pursue. It's all a big calculation of risk and public safety, and yes, there's unfortunately a few cops that are bad at math.

@@pok3rfacReturns CoopyKat is right, they will come after you for unpaid tolls, red light camera violations, accidents, etc. You may be able to eventually beat the charges with the bill of sale, but it will be a pain in the butt and possibly require you to hire an attorney. A friend of mine donated his car, which didn't run anymore and someone fixed it and proceeded to run up $1700 in unpaid tolls. He had collection agencies calling him for over a year even after he sent the DMV the form and copied the toll authority. They wanted their money and his was the only name they had. Better to just file it right away and be done with it. Even better, meet the buyer at the DMV and transfer it over on the spot. Then you know they aren't driving it under your name, even for a short ride home.
