Great panel here. I wonder what the history is of the pathological parent. Did they always have mental health issues? Did they suffer abuse as kids? I am wondering what the trigger is to cause a person to be this way as a parent. Hoarders usually have a trigger from some trauma that starts the hoarding as a result. I wonder if the pathological parent is the same or not.

I'll tell you gender does not matter_ when it comes too these 2 bad characters -found in Genesis 3:16, it's a curse that pick pockets take advantage of in Acts 19:25, look at Revelations 18 for the results ❤️❤️❤️exposed in the 21st-century, THE ONLY WAY TO SUPPORT THEM IS T00 BE THERE WHEN THEY REACH OUR FOR HELP

I am the targeted mom almost 7 years now. My question is do you have any adult children that were alienated from a parent - and that adult child has alienated their own children? I’ve only heard the adult children that have been targeted but do you have adult children that have alienated ? I hope this makes sense . Thanks for all your insight from the child’s perspective.

The opening question about separating the kid from the pathological parent is so true! My girls have done nothing but flourish since they left their mothers house. It was very rough at first but as time went on it was clear they just needed a positive environment, room to be themselves and patience to help them through this nightmare. The pathological parent always keeps their kids on high alert, with fear, anxiety and sadness. Thank you ladies for sharing your stories.

To all the ladies thank you, thank you for your bravery to speak out. I am so sorry you all had to endure this. And the to the ladies going through this with your own children I am so sorry! As a Grandmother seeing her son and granddaughter go through this is heart wrenching, depressing and sickening. If it’s this terrible for me I can only imagine what it was like for you. I will pray for your healing and reunification for your children. God bless you all!

I love that you are building this community of adult alienated children to support and be supported by others who share the same experiences. It is valuable work to bring people together who can understand and validate each other’s pain like no one else can. You are all so brave. Bring each other snacks when one of you is on the floor and can’t get up, and let us know how we can support you ❤.

Thank you all participants, your stories helps putting light on this terrible type of child abuse. I believe that speaking out as formerly alienated children gives the issue such more "credibility" compared to when targeted parents speak out - the public in general don't believe that children can reject a parent without a reason, thus we're looked at with misstrust when we're trying to help our kids out of the violence. Madi - you're awsome in what you're doing! 💪👏

I was raised by my grandmother and was alienated from both my mother and father. The dynamics were that my grandmother thought she was doing th right thing as well. My biological mother was going to college and trying to get a job at the time. My father I believe conceived me through a one night stand. But he tried to visit me every now and then. My grandmother interesting enough was alienated from her kids and her brother sisters and parents. Now I have no one, my grandma dies 7 years ago and I don’t deal with her children because they weren’t close to her. I in turn am now separated from my wife and alienated from my child also and m struggling to stay relevant in his life and try to break the cycle

Thank you all for being willing to discuss such a difficult topic, and share your vulnerabilities surrounding it all. Jocelyn, keep the faith. I was alienated from both of my adult sons. I reconnected with my oldest son about 3 1/2 years ago. It took time, but our relationship is amazing. I just continue to pray my "baby" opens his heart and mind at some point. Madi, it is great that you have guest speakers on your video. The world needs to know that there are MANY people (now adults) who are affected by this. I hope some male guests speak up and reach out to you. It happens to boys also, of course. I know several. Also - it's not just a bio parent who can do the alienating. It can also be the new STEP parent doing it to their STEP child, trying to take over full control of your child.

Thank you for speaking out like this. My husband and I have been struggling against his ex telling lies to his children and always forcing them to talk about nothing but negative experiences, no matter how small, after they are with us. My husband cries nearly every day because his son has completely given in to his mom's narrative and his daughter always changes the way she is if her mom can see her. It is absolutely heart-breaking, and all these "professionals" never truly look at the entire situation: they listen to the kids parroting their mom or making claims without explanation and just assume the kids are speaking without influence. I would be interested to know how adult PA survivors handled their counseling sessions as children and as an adult if they see where the counselor failed or how they navigated the experience (repeated stories, lied about their true feelings, expressed confusion or sadness, etc.).

I resonated with all on the panel yet Joslyn most as I'm 50 and was also a parental alienated child. Currently, the target parent from my beautiful daughter, nearly 6 years now. I'm at a point where I stopped writing my daughter. I just send gifts every couple months bc I don't know what say anymore . I don't wanna say "I'm sorry " one more time when I have still not been told what I did or didn't do to receive the silent treatment as a punishment for 6 years. She was only 13 making that type of permanent decision and I did crap like that outta fear of not receiving love from my dad and mom so I learned to just say whatever made them both happy over time. I get mad at myself bc pushed our daughter to be close to her dad bc he would accuse me of "keeping her away from him,"" like his ex did" with his 2 older children. His accusations were confessions but I didn't realize that until I got away...and years later just peeling back the layers of time and how it revealed patterns of behavior I couldn't see in the situation or at the time until later on the back end of not being able to do anything about it anymore.

@@TheAnti-AlienationProject I agree with you to a certain degree on that because I could really care less about my child having anything to do with the abuser but I wouldn't stop my child from still having anything with the alienator (abuser) like the alienator did with me as much as it pains me to say that because after what has happened to the innocent child the alienator doesn't deserve to be in that child's life and me being the targeted parent all I want is to protect my child from the alienator especially when they will usually not change their narcissist ways even after the child finally sees the light. I strongly believe that unless the alienator admits to their wrong doing to the child and is willing to get help that the child should get away as soon as possible and as far as possible. Who wants to continue to be reminded of how much and how long they've been downright betrayed in so many ways by alienator. And this is my situation as an alienated father the picture you see is my daughter Oshun. Again I won't stop my child from having a relationship with the abuser but I won't support it.

I was alienated big time. My father brainwashed me against my mother slowly before their divorce and then full on during the very acrimonious divorce. I was the only one of three children to reunite with her and when I would go back to my father’s where my brother and sister were (because I would fight with my mother - imagine going to a place for safety from abuse but that place is with someone you’ve been brainwashed against for a long time), I was already being abused by all of them (why I reached out to my mother in the first place), but then I would return briefly to my fathers I was called my mothers name as an insult (an addition to a long list of other things I was being called on the regular). I was the youngest child. After giving my father, brother and sister multiple chances, I decided to cut them from my life at 18. My mother took her own life when I was 21. My brother and sister had nothing to do with the funeral but they did show up, causing me to leave early as my sister very aggressively tried pulling me to her self. This caused me to not meet the many people who loved my mother and who were at the funeral. There were thousands of people there. My mother was a wonderful woman and the only thing she wanted in life was to have children and I missed out on a lot. My father didn’t want to pay child support and used us as pawns to get back at my mom. . She drowned in the Detroit river, her body was found March 27, 2011. She never left a note, but my father’s last name is Ireland and the day she was last seen/decided to take her life was March 17, St. Patrick’s day, which I think was her “note.” I blame my father for instigating the hate and abuse and and also my ‘brother’ and ‘sister’ for this and also how I was treated (you wouldn’t believe me if I told you how my brother and sister took part in the abuse). My mother was living along the river in Windsor, Ontario Canada when she decided to take alcohol, pills, and go in the river in the winter. I’m 34 and this stil affects me to this day. 😭 Not only was my mother taken from me via the brainwashing but so was my mother’s side of the family and that emotional support. I reunified with them, at 18 but I always felt uncomfortable and I’ve never really felt like I’ve had a true sense of family and holidays are hard. I moved far away from there because I couldn’t stand running into siblings or their friends. It’s a small place. This caused further isolation in my life. After my mother passed I slowly stopped talking to her side of the family. It’s all really sad. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I would love to be on one of your interviewing shows, as either alienated parent or as alienated child .. yes, actually, alienated child, because I don't think I've ever really spoken about that one, it was just how it was, that's just how life was .. but I know now in my late 50s what happened .. I always knew, but it was what it was and we just got on with it. It's actually been a cause of massive lifelong trauma and bad decisions, really messed my life up, looking back.

Just want to say I was the custodial parent and it didn't make a difference. Ph calls, text messages, putting her in adult situations, giving her authority over me and being told not to listen to me. Made even speaking to her impossible. I would ask her to talk and she'd start screaming bloody murder, usually holding her ph up. Took me a bit to realise they were on the ph telling her to react to my request to talk like that. When she would visit them, they would replay her screaming as evidence I was abusing her. The fact and memory that I was no where near her but standing at her door requesting to speak has not seemed to surface in her mind

Thank you for doing this. I have so many questions but I can’t post them all on here. But I have one. My oldest son, who stopped having a relationship with me 4 years ago after I got engaged to remarry, has reached out to me a few times in the 4 years stating he wants to talk, meet, & rebuild our relationship. He does this every so often which gets my hopes up, but then he goes dark on me again and I will not hear from him for months. Can you explain what you believe is his reluctance to move forward? He and I have always had a really good relationship. I miss him so much. Last time I heard from him via text, he said him being absent from me had been painful for him too and apologized for hurting me.

Yes, a child in this process is under the total control of the pathogenic parent and is concerned to guard that parent for a long time. My older son 22 tells me how his mother would be in pain if he had a relationship with me after all I "did" to her, and yet she ended up in jail due to her own actions, but now I am the one who put her in there. I'd really like to know how does one put someone into jail. I'd like to sand a few people there. So, my son is totally unable to snap out of it. He can't treat both parents the same. Mom can do whatever she wants and it's never at fault, because she is just trying to help her kids while consciously working to eliminate successfully the "rogue"dad from kids' lives for years. Who do you think my son will choose for a wife?

Unfortunately it seems like most people are likely to end up with partners who are similar to their abusive family members because 1. The dynamic feels familiar 2. They don’t know any better. If all you’ve received is conditional love your whole life, you won’t find the conditional love of a romantic partner unusual or unacceptable. In fact, you’d probably feel really uncomfortable and off-balance experiencing healthy, UNCONDITIONAL love since that’s so unfamiliar. Just my two cents based on research & experience.
