Thank you for portraying my beautiful city with such respect and care! We have serious problems like racism, the contradictions of a vast and absurdly unequal country, but we also have a welcoming and joyful people. I am happy to help build a bridge with this other people who hold a special place in my heart-the Chinese people. It was a great pleasure to show you and your team a little piece of Brasília. I agree that we have serious problems like racism, but it's rarely a personal racism. It's not like it is in other countries where people will curse you or something. When this kind of racism happen, the racist is like to be charged and probably arrested (if he is not part of the elite). Racist people are usually part of the elite, the real people are not racist, at least not spontaneously. The racism in Brazil is a structural problem, the black people has less opportunity. The majority of the prison population is black people. In novels and movies, the bad guy is always a black one, so it became a stereotype. That's what i mean by "not spontaneously" racism, people, in general, will be more aware and afraid of being robbed when next to a black or pardo person than when next to a white one, and it's all part of this systematic problem caused by the Brasilian elite over decades. This is also the same elite that now claims to be the defender of the black people agenda, but it's all fake.
@r.macedo36122 ай бұрын
BTW the citizen who actually lives in Brasilia (not at the satellite cities) are part of the same elite. You probably notice that they are all white folks talking about racism, even though the majority of Brazil's population is black or pardo.

As Ayada mentioned, understanding that people actually think differently in other parts of the world due to their unique history and cultural development will be critical for future cooperation and development. Promoting cultural exchange and immersive visits between countries will help in this too.

Was expecting Brazil's capital city to be covered with plenty of trees and colourful vegetation. Instead, Brasilia looks rather bleak with all those rough concrete surfaces. Can't imagine Antônio Carlos Jobim's sensual music playing in the background.

That's because Brasilia was built in the brazilian savannah region in the central plateau of Brazil. Our country has so many landscapes and biomes that the foreigners are not used to, you guys only think about the rainforests and stuff
@williamthierry59762 ай бұрын

It is true what he said about racism in Brazil and for that matter it is the same in Central and other parts of South America. It doesn't matter which part of Asia a Asian comes from. To them every Asian is a Chino. It is their own cultural ignorance. Japanese is a Chino, Vietnamese is a Chino, Indonesian is a Chino and even Filipino is a Chino. How do I know ? I had once worked with a co-worker from El Salvador and he told me everybody is a Chino. It doesn't matter which part of Asia the person comes from. At least here in Canada and in the US. We know there are different types of Asian. Same as we know there are different types of Mediterranean such as Greeks, Italian, Portuguese and Spaniard. Well maybe not Portugal because it is not facing the Mediterranean sea, but you get the idea.

ok, so, where is the racism? Not in Brazil. In this country, we call "japa" for asian people but this is not considered depreciative or racist. In fact brazilian-born asians in general are a respectable group of people known for being hard-working and good citizens. Furthermore, Brazil has a strong law for racism against black people, anyone committing an act of racism against blacks will end up in jail. People from all over the world live here in peace, everybody mix together and there's nobody cares where their parents came from.
@williamthierry59762 ай бұрын

Its funny that Brasil is such a diverse country and China is not. Majority of China is made up of han Chinese. A staggering 92% of china is composed of Han chinese a far cry from multicultural Brasil. And a lot of people dont know this fact. Having hailed from some chinese grandfolks in my family , I understand a lot of chinese costumes and traditions. Chinese are crude business people, they dont care about other culture and they tend to just do business and nothing else. Unlike the japanese that went to Brasil before the chinese , they assimilated very well into the multicultural society of Brasil. Being a luso -filipino, I understand the difference.
