Don't give all your money away on chopped garlic. Do it Yourself and save. Easy and quick. Store in the fridge until all used up and use the oil for dipping sauce.

Take your terriyaki sauce, mango mashed up, and crushed pinapple in a pan, heat it up to a boil. In a cup add some cold water and cornstarch into a loose paste . Add it to the fruit mix and stir til thickened. This is Mrs. H's recipe and I stand by it.

I just dried 6 lbs of garlic.. it is oh so much better than store bought! Easy way to peel garlic is take 2 stainless steel bowls one a little smaller than the other.. I have even used 2 metal loaf pans.. put your unpeeled garlic inside one bowl, put the other bowl face down over the other holding onto lips of both shake vigorously.. peels garlic quick and fast. Love the video Deb.. I suggest you try dehydrating ginger and grind.. so much better than store bought! Blessings!

Thanks!! I never knew that the minced garlic in those jars were just made of only garlic and olive oil. Wow... That really is a lot of money to pay, you're right. Great tip!! Thanks! A little over a year ago I went to the grocery store to stock up on a lot of canned Campbell's soups. That's the only reason I actually went to the store that day. Get this.....I loaded my cart 1st with a bunch of tomato and rice soups then went to grab other kinds of soup

The best way to remove the skins is to put the cloves in the microwave for 20-30 seconds and the garlic just slides out. I saw this on Dr.Oz it works great

I start by placing the garlic cloves in white vinegar to make it way more acidic. I keep this mixture in the fridge for three days, then drain the vinegar off, process, and cover with extra virgin olive oil. Keep it in the fridge. No worries about botulism.

Our local Sam's Club has the Spice World Minced Garlic 48 oz cannister for $4-something. I purchased it by accident thinking it was dried since it was on the shelf with the other spices - surprise! Now I can't use it in my Meals-In-A-Jar, but use it for cooking when I'm in a hurry or out of fresh garlic. Not quite as pungent as I usually like my garlic, but it'll do in a pinch.

The garlic sold in the store in jars and oil have been pasteurized and canned to make them safe from botulism. To remove the smell of garlic from your fingers or hands simply sub them on something made of stainless steel.

WOW that is expensive, I got a large jar at wally world for under $6. Here the garlic blubs are more expensive but I too love the smell. Thanks for hints-great way to cut the garlic. I too am saying no to lots of things-like acorn squash at the grocery store the other night-big sign says .98 I thought yeah! not- .98 a lb and they were 4 pounds a piece. I will wait until they are on sale for real. thanks!

Hi Deb - I made three pints of diced garlic this way but saw over on Linda's Pantry that some for her research showed it needs to be stored in the freezer to avoid botulism. My garlic in olive oil did freeze hard and so this is not as convenient. Have you heard of anything about dangers of refrigerator storage. Thanks. I love your videos.
@ArthurKanzler
@ArthurKanzler 10 жыл бұрын
You really need to be careful with homemade oil mixtures because of the increased risk of botulism toxic formation. The textbook example for botulism formation is homemade garlic and oil mixtures

I stocked my cart full of lots of different soups and went to pay. The cashier had to ask the manager if it was correct. He said yes! He said do you want the or not because I couldn't believe the price. He said again want them (sorta rood like). I said NO!!!! I left the store with nothing. I will never forget that!! No I get my soups at the dollar store.

got the computer fixed so I can hear you. I am making crab apple sauce with Don so had to watch this 3 times to see it all. How long will this last in a mason jar in the fridge. Someone told me not to do it as it wouldn't last long but I bought a jar and it lasted me a year so I figure this would last quite a while. Trust your advice more than the friend who keeps telling me things I do will kill someone. I made pickled garlic for my 7 year old GD need to taste it before I give it to her. TY
