@Alan Morales You can't rate Stockton over Isiah. The thing you must consider is if you had to build a team around either Isiah, or Stockton... who do you build around? Well clearly the answer is Isiah. And he won the titles to prove it. Stockton was one of the greatest Robin's... but he wasn't a franchise player like Isiah was. Stockton was to Malone, what Pippen was to Jordan. But no way could John Stockton be the best player on your team and lead his team over Isiah's Pistons. Isiah (19ppg 9ast) > Stockton (13ppg 10ast). Isiah is just a more complete player... higher ceiling... bigger star... better talent...

The Legendary HOFer Isiah Thomas for the longest was underrated by the uptight national media members of the past. Now that those stiffs are retiring more and more and outa the way, a new generation of national media members are speaking the truth to the masses about the man whose early 1980s NBA dribbling was the blueprint for 1990s Tim Hardaway's killer crossover that A.I. revamped into the "Killer Crossover," leading to CP3's, Steph's, and Kyrie's ball handling that is a staple in the NBA...Isiah was rocking helpless NBA defenders to sleep with his low and quick back and forth stationary dribble be between the legs just before blowing by them decades before James Harden. I am sure there is a game plan to stop any player, but it was more difficult to figure it out for Michael and to execute the game plan. When It came to different eras, Jordan could adapt to the league’s rules in any era.Steph would not have the three pointer in Wilt’s era, and Wilt or Kareem would not be able to stay in the box today. And if Isiah reads this message, you are the greatest point guard who played the game. Not just because you stopped Jordan, but because of your intelligence, skills and leadership all-in-one. @@tmmitchell9541 I've literally seen online every playoff that can be found... The rules changed so that Jordan can be more dominant.. Also, they wanted to make the NBA more "Global" and they needed a face for it to happen, so the league helped him.. he honestly couldn't do it alone but need alot of other top 50 players on his team to go to the finals.. He wouldn't stand a chance against dominance of Wilt or the strength and athleticism of LeBron, or the cleverness of Bird or other greats.. That's one of the many reasons the legends before him (Kareem, Russell, Oscar, Wilt etc) don't see him as the GOAT.. BTW Kareem and many others consider Oscar Robertson goat and Oscar said that LeBron is in a category of himself in 2010!! Also, based on interviews I've seen of Wilt, by the end of LeBron's career he would consider him GOAT too.. Thanks for your comment 😁

Then leave for LA, but had to get help* like I said chase greatness. It's fine to acknowledge Isiah and give him his props. But people often use that narrative against Jordan and say Jordan only beat the Pistons and the Lakers "when they got old". Well if that's the case then those teams only beat Jordan when Jordan was young. They never make the argument the other way around. The Pistons were younger than the Celtics when they lost to them. The Bulls were younger than Pistons when they lost to them. Those teams were not direct peers. The Celtics and Lakers were direct peers at that time.

@@h.s936 Ironically, Isiah's path to a championship was similar to Jordan's. They both had to build their dynasties from scratch and it took each of them seven years to accomplish it. The difference is that when Isiah won his first title, people say it was because the Pistons had arrived. It was their time. But when the Bulls won their first title, people say it was because the Lakers and Pistons had "gotten old". Larry Bird had damaged his back by 1987. Mchale had broken his foot. Those injuries have been documented. The Pistons beat the Celtics in 1988. Magic had a hamstring injury in 1998 and Byron Scott got injured. So if anything it was the Pistons who benefited from those teams being "old and injured'. Isiah, Dumars, Aguire, Salley and Rodman were in their late 20's and early 30's in 1991and were going for the three-peat. But somehow they lost to the Bulls because they were "old". Isiah lost to the Celtics until he figured out how to beat them. Jordan lost to the Pistons until he figured out how to beat them. But people can't seem to just leave it at that.

Fantastic interview. This interview provides the greatest insight into all of those vaunted stories; illuminates a tremendous amount of information, including some basketball strategy and what the championship mindset must be - mental stamina!

Stop generalizing and labeling people! Not all millennials think the same. I was born in 93 and I know more basketball than baby boomers. I know Jordan is the GOAT I know Magic is the greatest pg and greatest laker etc.

I was born in 80 but I think Lebron is the 2nd greatest ever right after Jordan with the possibility of being #1

The funny thing is that it’s not even an accurate term. Millennials reach up to people in their mid 30’s at this point. People who who actually got to see MJ play at the time as kids. The “Space Jam” generation. What he really means is Gen Z who were born after all that, but he’s just using the term “millennial” to describe anyone younger than him like a lot of people do.

Zeke is right about how the teams back then play different styles compared to today's NBA teams.

@Tod Wilkinson i agree. Today's game is more free flowing and the rules allows them to look more athletic.

@Tod Wilkinson yup. It was too crowded in the lane bec of post plays and only guys who can really hit 3s were allowed to shoot 3s by most coaches. The approach on offense and defense were more methodical and as zeke mentioned, teams dont play the same style od basketball.

I am a laker at heart but always been a fan of zeke (Isaiah Thomas), loved the guy and after seeing this, I am an even bigger fan of him, shed a lot of light on things like the rumors from back then, kudos to Chris Broussard for doing this interview!!!

Lifelong Laker fan so who grew up in the Showtime/Bad Boys era. Hated Zeke for years but the last few years I've sat through some of his interviews and I fck with Isaiah now. He's a real dude. That walk off did mega damage to his rep. Not the most underrated though. He got his due, or at least enough. Gotta give underrated to someone more obscure/unsung.

Wilt saying that to Jordan at that time is the equivalent of Jordan telling Kobe “you can wear my shoes but you’ll never fill em” after Kobe had just won 3 in a row. WOW

Whenever someone spews this narrative of modern players being so much more athletic; I have to ask - who's dunking from the 3pt line? Who's running a 3.5? Who's hitting their groin on the top of the backboard? Oh, these things aren't happening?? AAAAND modern players "load manage"?? Wow, such athletes. Please stop with the narrative. Human beings have not undergone some evolutionary explosion in the last 20 years.
