This song hits my heart strongly! I've sang this song countless times in Karaoke bars throughout California to Georgia from the 90's to the 2000's. As a black guy, I resonate with this song and Chris LeDoux's entire song repertoire. (RIP). This man was 'True' to everything he did and sang, and his songs are still relevant to this day if people would just 'LISTEN' to them and their message.

One of the few Garth Brooks songs I like is Just LeDoux It. And not just singing rodeo cowboys. Give him his dues. Singing, 2 times world champion, rodeo cowboy. Got to see him in concert and he disappears band keeps playing, 2 minutes later he's finished tying something on his leg, then mounts something, reaches back and hits something and he's moving so fast the camera couldn't keep up. Then he rises out of the stage moving so fast you would think it was a scarecrow on the mechanical bull. Had a can of Copenhagen in my pocket in case I could get his autograph.

This is i great version of a great song, and it's very sad that Chris is gone. The song was written by Bruce Springsteen. It is on his 1987 album, "Tunnel of Love." It's takes an exceptional performer to do a better job than the author, especially when that author is Mr. Springsteen, but I think Mr. LeDoux may have succeeded. Listen to Bruce's version and see if you agree.

I've seem him play it live a couple of times and love the "Duane Eddyish" twangy guitar solos. The official video was filmed at a show and displays this well. I've seen him on every tour, beginning with Darkness in 1978, and offhand, can't think of a song that isn't better live than on the album. His ability to pick seemingly any song and turn it to into a concert, show-stopping, centerpiece, is amazing. Mary's Place, on The Rising tour, for example. Or play the same song acoustically, or as a rock anthem - Incident on 57th Street is a pretty good example. We can argue about the greatest living songwriters, but there is a general consensus in the music industry that Bruce is the greatest live performer since the invention of amplification.

Bruce Springsteen is an anti-American douche, a little girl that whines because his candidate lost the election.

When I was three years old I had a cowboy hat just like his and during one of his concerts my dad took me up to the outdoor stage and Chris signed my hat and when I got back I said "That man just put ABCs on my hat". I still have that hat some 17 plus years later. It's one of my most favorite possessions and memories. RIP Chris Ledoux.

Chris is one of the greats in Country Music. I always liked how he stuck to his roots and sang songs that related to him. RIP Chris.

was fortunate to see him live twice. Man, do I miss him. I don't think there has been anyone in the last 20 years that Nashville accepted, but didn't fit in. There has never been enough true "cowboy country". Chris did it right & I doubt he will ever come close to be replaced.

My favorite concert will always be Chris at Cheyenne Frontier Days, when he knew he had to do another tour for the fans. I will never forget hearing he passed while in a combat zone.

I like all the versions: Bruce's, Travis Tritt's, and CL's! They all put their own twist on this great written tune from the Boss!

The comment didn't DISRESPECT "the boss". He simply states that he PREFERS Chris Ledoux's version over Springsteen's. Every fan of a singer will pick that singer's version. If you played the 3 (main) versions Springsteen, Ledoux and Tritt to a (truly) neutral audience I believe a poll would show Ledoux, Springsteen, then Tritt. I followed Springsteen as a tween/ early teen and still respect his music despite differing political views. As a young adult Tritt was very popular. I didn't know anything about Ledoux until I did some fact checking after hearing his name mentioned in Garth's much to young (to feel this damn old). Ever since I've liked, and met (on 2 occasions) Chris.

The year 1997. I was a young railroader out of Texas. Being shorthanded in Minneapolis I took the job. I met a Norwegian girl there. She invited me to a club called spurs located in the Mall of America . I recall this song started playing and she danced to it alone. Every step and the way she swayed was mesmerizing. Beautiful as the song and her beauty spoke for itself is by far a fond memory of Chris LeDoux's work. Her presence. And my youth.
