"A poet is an unhappy being whose heart it torn by secret sufferings, but whose lips are so strangely formed that when the sighs and the cries escape them, they sound like beautiful music... and then people crowd about the poet and say to him: Sing for us soon again; that is as much as to say. May new sufferings torment your soul. " ~~ Søren Kierkegaard RIP Chris Cornell

This is my favorite rendition of this song as well. I grew up devoted to Hip Hop, but always liked Soundgarden (Temple of the Dog/Audiodlave) a lot. Around 2021, I fell into Chris Cornell again and realized how fond of his music I actually am. I carry such a deep regret for never having seen him play live.

Chris was crying out in pain and needed help even when this record came out. I wish someone would have listened more carefully then as it might have prevented what would later happen. RIP Chris. @Shawn Jerome He wasn't on heroin.
@Nightboat4 жыл бұрын
@Shawn Jerome No, that is not the case with Chris, Shawn. Perhaps you are thinking of Kurt Cobain? Toxicology reports for Chris revealed that several prescription drugs were in his system the night of his death. He had high levels of barbiturates (prescription sedatives) and four doses of lorazepam (also known as the anxiety medication Ativan) in his body at the time of his death. Traces of caffeine (an upper), pseudoephedrine (a decongestant), and naloxone (administered by EMTs to stop a possible overdose) were also revealed in the toxicology report. Despite evident signs of prescription drug abuse, the coroner officially determined that Chris Cornell’s prescription drug abuse did not directly cause his death. This was not an overdose, and experts say it is unlikely that the “weird combination” of uppers and downers in Cornell’s system would lead him to hang himself.

I watched the last girl I'll ever be with, take her own life at about the same time he took his. I've never been the same. I miss the old days so much. Chris will always be with us as long as we keep listening to his otherworldly lyricism and voice. He was and will always be my favorite artist and I've cried every time I've watched or listened to his videos on KZbin every weekend, since his passing. I've no more tears left to cry. I only wish that I wasn't so naive and selfish my youth, thinking he was solely singing about and relating to MY pain. His hurt was so profound, it was far to easy to relate to. It's like Josh Homme sang; "I'll make a mountain of a molehill, if the molehill is mine." If you introduce his heartful lyrics and his impeccable voice to your kids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and so on, Chris will be eternal. He is in my book.

That verse hits me like a right hook, when I consider his chosen fate. Lyric is made much heavier with that knowledge in the back of my mind. A few others also hint at his state of mind , in that way. Burden in my hand, fell on black days, and outshined all reveal a glimpse of a soul in agony. He is obviously in constant, intense pain. He has soul pain, not body pain(like mine), but either kind will drive you mad in time. Phys.pain makes me very irritable, mean even. I want to hit something or someone, but I dont cuz then im causing pain.(F. That) Soul pain makes you cry out and hide, nothing to hit. I just wish he could've found a reason to stay, like his kids , or something. It's tragic, but it's really not his fault. May God have mercy on his spirit and on us all. Amen.

How remarkable is it that his voice still sounds so amazing after all the smoking and various other things he's probably put it through? And aside from that, how does someone who's nearly 50 look this damned good? Is he even a human being?

I think it comes down to not caring about your age and not stopping because you reach a certain age. The world is not just for 20 year olds.

Bro smoking doesn't age everyone lol. I smoked my entire life and still got carded, at stores that didbt require carding, up to 37 years old. Its genetics. And Chris wasn't beyond help when it came to drugs like some. He was bad but not Layne Staley bad for instance. Your body recovers

MrAero Helicopter it has always been about suicide. he wrote alot of dark songs about some pretty dark depressing and disturbing issues. his music really helped me through some really difficult times in my life..........I only wish I, or anyone, could have helped him through his troubles, darkness, demons or whatever it was that troubled him............his music and lyrics were and still are therapy for me. RIP Chris Say Hello To Heaven my friend, I'll see ya on the other side perhaps.

Scott Owens It's strange when I look back at lyrics I've written for my songs of how deep they are yet I was 15 at the time and yet the music was quite happy yet punchy. The song was called "Maybe" lyrics are Crazy in an empty Feeling unaware living as it makes me dying I don't care Taken down beneath me Choices as it's blade Pressures that it could be Take me I'm afraid Chorus Maybe I'm to late Maybe I'm reaching out again Take me it's my own way Maybe I'm reaching out again and so on..I will upload the song one day. But I guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't really know why I was writing that stuff but it was somehow how it should be or could be.

Scott Owens in the last period chris wasn ' t so depressed and in a bad mood. His wife said that he had a strong love for his family which let him go forward. Causes for his Death are probably those medicines that lead him to suicide..

So so so so grateful to have seen Soundgarden play here in NYC a few years. I was right in the front. Chris singing, is Godly. His range is like no other. I sound crazy but if you saw them in person, you know! A rock God for sure! I just hope the remaining members can settle the things with Vicky. 🙏🤘

IT is very hard to realize....how much you love someone, until they are gone. Listening to Chris Cornell, is an exercise in discovering a space that is filled by his voice. Luckily, we have these recordings.

I like how the bass player just plays through the singing part where most of us mortals exist. Then, continues his life of super chill when Chris’s voice just explodes into a range that none of us lives in.

Yes his voice was incredible, but his songwriting, lyrics, and inventive guitar playing, when taken all together, I think you can make a good case that Chris Cornell was the greatest rock musician of all time.

I used to think in the dark! But I don't anymore. In his lyrics you can tell that he was in the dark. It's too late to say if he only would have waited! He left a lot of music for us I just hope no one gets the wrong idea. Never give up! RIP Chris❤❤❤

Chris Cornell had so much to give, I feel he could have saved some for himself! He had an amazing career and chose to end his life, I've been there, but knowing it could be worse, I hang in there, so if I can help someone before my time is over, then I achieved my goal! This man affected me so deeply with his music, I have been deviated in loss! Go with God! 🌹 +1
