If you look at father Mike's eyes you can tell he lacks sleep, but the lacking of sleep means he puts so much effort in serving God. Father Mike we all have you in our thoughts of prayers. May you continue to serve God Faithfully till the end.

Fr Mike is a gem. He is authentic, funny, friendly and so easy to listen to. He helped me get back into Catholicism after years of dilly-dallying in my faith. Now I’m learning all kinds of Catholic things, reading the Bible, doing the Cathecism, and walking with Christ in large part thanks to him 😀

As a cynical Evangelical and reeling first time mother, Fr. Mike was the first thing that came up on KZbin after a counselor told me to search for videos about "Forgiveness". For some reason, when Fr. Mike said there was a God...I wanted it to be true. When Fr. Mike said God loved me...I really wanted that to be true as well. Chris is spot on-- it's not that Fr. Mike is awesome or a "rockstar" as much as it's that God really, really wants to say something powerful and this person is who I'm hearing it through. I can't believe I'm about to say this but I am crawling back to my faith thanks to internet ministries like Ascension, Poco a Poco, and RealLifeCatholic and, err...ummmm...... thank God??? 😅

That last bit that Chris inspired Fr Mike to say had me burst into tears of gratitude for just simply being seen -as if God has spoken it Himself to me…That the “mundane” task of motherhood, friendships, marriage, evangelization and relationship in general is the hard work and to be encouraged and it’s the perseverance of sharing the love of Jesus Christ in relationship that is equally important to show up to and equally influential in bringing the truth/gospel to others… I needed this so bad! Cause man a lot of this work is quiet and only recognized by the Lord. (I don’t think I’ve ever written a KZbin comment in my life lol sooo truly God is speaking through you both I’m so grateful). Thank you. Praise God.

As a woman who struggles with deep shame due to past sins and past trauma, it is comforting to hear from Fr. Mike that I will not need to feel ashamed before Jesus because of how God worked His grace through those past sins and past trauma. Thank you, Holy Spirit.

Beautiful - you are a winner. It's a lot and we all have "past sin flashback". It's a lie from the evil one - once we are forgiven, I am told, God has forgotten our sin, His forgiveness is REAL.

Fr. Mike, I live in the NW coast of Oregon. Every week I tune into your homilies either before or after my mass. I share with my 12 year old daughter. I’m starting her on the Bible in the year, I did that with you in 2020, you’ve helped me learn and grow as a cradle Catholic. Thank you for helping me be fired up, glory be to God. I wish we had a strong Catholic community to help fire up our youth here in the NW, especially our coastal communities get neglected. Trying to do my part to bring my girls the truth of our faith and to stay focused. There’s a lot of great Catholic educators fired up online. I love that. We need more strong catholic sisters to connect with our young girls too. Anyhow, I love all that you do. I really appreciate all your hard work.

I too wish there was a stronger Catholic presence for our youth and young adults in their 20s here in PNW - Seattle area is so dark I have been trying to decide where to move and always look at the Parishes and community in the different states across the country I am exploring. I wish there was a directory published that would show population and community involvement as I know there are some areas thriving while some are non existent.

It seems to me that Father approaches his homily as a teacher approaches lesson planning. The lesson every week is based upon whatever the Gospel reading (and the other readings of that day). A good teacher always relates whatever they are teaching to what their students knowledge/experience is with that subject and starts there. Father does this very well. He is a natural teacher.

❤ Fr. Mike. From the first time I saw one of his videos. I see good priests now, w/a glimpse of what Fr. Mike has now. It just seems at times that their love for the Lord is there, but that the intensity is not the same. The impression is that they've been doing it for so long that maybe they take some short cuts. I believe that is why Fr. Mike is so loved. That his passion for his calling is still burning and for that, I'm grateful. It fuels us. God bless you Fr. Mike, abundantly.

I taught on our RCIA team for many years, and it always fell to me to teach about the 4 last things. The RCIA candidates were often horrified at the thought of the entire world knowing their most secret sins. I explained that their good deeds, and the effects of their good deeds would also be seen. But yes, their deepest, darkest most hidden sins would be made manifest. But I explained that from at least my point of you, it would not so much be shame, as it would be gratitude and joy. One could honestly say, “despite my terrible sins, look how merciful God is, that he saved me“ The showing of our sins is actually showing the magnitude of God’s mercy.

Dear Father, Just a something I heard-take it how you will!-but I heard once that, if someone calls you, just always pick up and-if you can’t talk right then-just tell them! ‘Listen, I can’t talk right now, but can I call you back?’ Sometimes they just need a one-word answer anyway! Just a tip that I learned that has brought me much, much peace, because I used to just let it ring and-not having the time to really talk right then-feel bad about it for a long time afterwards! THANK YOU for all you do!!!!

Oh, yes, twelve years in NJ! It was hard to keep up. I was so grateful to be sent to Louisiana (with a group of NJ, NY women) The young people coming into the library said to me (Librarian here), "Why are they so up-tight? They're always in a hurry! That's crazy!" What could I say? "That's how everybody is up North. Everybody down here is relaxed and slow. That drives them crazy!" I do have a hard time keeping up with you two, especially now that my hearing is shot and hearing aids help but must be excused for their limitations. I try to follow along with the transcript but my dyslexia and old eyes are struggling to keep up. I stop the video and read ahead, then turn on the video so I can get most of your chat. Pat yourself on the back that your content keeps me in the struggle!

The last comments about mass I shared with my two teen boys and we talked about it. And I have had them watch an entire video of Fr Mikes about mass and about how it’s not for us, it’s for God. Thank you Fr Mike and Chris for this beautiful interview for us to know you better when we already feel like you both are a part of our families. 😊

This was a gem. You both are godly men who are working for God in the public eye. Because that's the hardest place to be authentically Catholic. Keep spreading Christ's love and the true joy of God!

Chris, what a great show! Keep smiling... You both shared a great gift of deep reflection - Mary's magnificat, the final judgment... Only things the Holy Spirit reveals in prayer. Thank you for your work (enduring the stress it brings) and your deep prayer!

I stumbled across Father Mike Schmitz's podcast in mid-June of this year after looking for information on "The Chosen" show. I was searching for something or anything to help me understand and deal with the loss of my husband earlier this year. i had read the entire bible 5 years before but remembered less than 25% of it. After watching BIY, day 1, Father MIke's youthful enthusiasm and deep love for God, along with his sense of humor was so moving and infectious, I wanted to hear more. His commentary after the readings is so helpful in understanding the verses and occasionally gets me very emotional. Many times, it is as if he is speaking to each one of us directly, with whatever situation we are experiencing. I know this is why so many people appreciate his podcast and his other video topics. Thank you, Father Mike, for your mentorship and love to all of us through your podcasts and video topics. That person who sent you an email saying you are annoying is just envious of how happy and content you are loving God with all your heart and soul. I am so sorry to hear that you lost your mother earlier this year as well. I am praying for you and your family.
