Note the importance of adequate recovery. It is built in based on the objective of the workout. I enjoyed watching one of my two favorite athletes (along with Mike Trout) putting in the work we never see. It is no secret why this athlete is great.

Like many who have commented I am a retired strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, wellness supervisor, and so on. This is highly advanced training. I have not seen these exercises before, but, even if I had I could not train them. As we all saw this type of very specific training requires feedback and cues. This professional has a much different background (engineering) and knows precisely why and what each move is trying to accomplish. It is proprioception like I have never seen it. CMC is letting his central nervous system (our control center) take control. Very difficult to teach. And, the trainer better know exactly what they are asking the athlete to do, and why. I was a decent coach, but, at 69 years of age I am a dinosaur. Extinct. I would have to learn all of the newest methods, and being of the Vince Lombardi school I would have to be open to new ideas. We old school coaches have to change.

This is superb it’s the bodies small intricate details. I think folks expect to see him squatting 5 plates but it’s more than that to be elite. Brady had his pliability and that worked for him. This works for Christian and he feel benefit from it.

Needs to work on hitting more vertical and higher on the hips. He is pulling from almost clean position. So that means he is leaning forward and not under the bar when he is jumping and pulling. This should be a simple thing to look at and see. One of the most important ques when snatching and cleaning. If you are hitting low around your knees on a clean you are pulling and jumping early, the snatch should be about at the pelvic bone. Never once does he hit triple extension, which is why they are doing this drill. By pulling early he is using his upper body and the bounce of his legs is why he is asking if the bar is to far away when he is bouncing it off his thighs. CMC if you need some real oly training I got you.

They are using an Olympic movement the way it should be used with athletes. These are not powerlifting movements. I’m sure he does some max effort work also but, shouldn’t be done with Olympic lifts. This is a huge mistake high school and college strength coaches make. Each type of lift has an appropriate protocol that goes with it in the world of strength training for athletes. These aren’t gym rats.

Power clean is also way easier and safer to max out than snaches. Still hard tho. This is perfect way to use olympic lifts. Keep them light and fast. Do the super heavy stuff with the trap bar etc

Ish…obvi half of the NFL talent is the fact the dude just carries around 235 of muscle. A LOT of humans have to work WAY more volume into their routine to build that muscle, and thus need different routines…Football supplements the volume too, but just playing football probably gets him 80% of the way there. Also how is this dude sweating through his shirt doing this workout doe? That part confuses me lol

First we thank ALL of you who are magnifying good and speaking life. None of us are perfect and we’re all constantly learning. At Press we’re trying to magnify the good in fitness - our athletes and all of you who will allow us to serve you. That said JDEG - It morphs for him on a lot of variables. At this time of year I believe he was doing 4 workouts a week. He often does a split. So before this workout he was at the track doing locomotion and speed drill work and intensive (more aggressive) tempo to keep pulling it all together. He’s like very few I’ve ever met or worked with. His attention to detail is off the charts. He knows what he needs, what his goal is and invests in the people, modalities and training/work he believes are important. And it’s very intentional as someone mentioned in a previous comment. He’s on a total body, “concurrent” (all modalities touched simultaneously but in different measure) at this time. His coach - our friend Brian Kula leans speed and movement, energy transfer and VBT training as a staple in strength. We’re currently building out the Press Lab in Arizona and will be sharing behind the scenes work, convos with coaches and pros, and sharing what we can to help YOU all Press on toward the upward calls in your lives. We’ll focus on building a like-minded community, and dive deeper into physical wellness and performance, mental resiliency and relational health as foundational pillars to help you access your potential. So please stay tuned, spread the word and keep asking about things that would be helpful to you. Thank you for being someone who brings good questions and life to this community. Sorry for the ramble - hope some of it helped:) Keep seeking. Keep testing. Asking for help. Keys to consider: slow to fast. Simple to complex. Pain free patterns. Deal with pain and injury with dogged determination and intentionality. Please feel free to tell us what you’re training for, and/or the sport(s) you play. Appreciate you - David Jack (DJ) - PRESS

It's incredible to see workouts like this and others that are on the channel for those of us who love strength training. In my case I revolve around fitness and martial arts.
