Thanks for sharing Doc. The hate in the comments don’t make sense. The whole region would have been phenotypically light skin to brown skin (black in the modern day) I think a lot of Berbers or brown skin Arabs who don’t want to be classified as black is a modern advent. It comes from a lot of modern miss-information. Thank for the video.

Simon Cyrene was Libyan 🇱🇾 he wasn’t black he was born in Cyrene Benghazi now he had tanned skin with Mediterranean Sea complexion

its too bad people don't do research to find out that just because Cyrene is in Northern Africa that they assume Simon was a black west coast looking African. Cyrene was actually a Greek settlement with People of Greek decent. The people all along the northern coast were basically of Arab and Berber ethnicities not at all having the appearance of West Africans or even the East coast Sudanese . You can actually google map the ancient town of Cyrene and see the Greek architecture still standing there. So it is actually possible that the man Simon who helped Jesus carry his crucifix was actually Greek. But truthfully, no one knows for sure.

I agree with many of the points you make, but it must be mentioned: Arabs are not native to North Africa, only the Imazighen are. Indigenous Amazigh DNA still makes up the majority of the average North African genetic profile to this day (with the exemption of most of Egypt) - from the Siwa oasis and Cyrenaica to Sous in Morocco. Sadly this fact is diminished by people repeating lies countless times without conducting any critical investgation. The motive of this video seems to be that of a typical Afro-centric: an attempt to claim the rich history of North Africa as part of African-American heritage as a result of sheer ignorance and low self-esteem. These people have indirectly established the utterly imbecilic ideology that Africa is a continent of ONE uniform ethnicity and thus ONE phenotype simply known as "black". They disregard the diversity of the continent and its history in the northern region simply to satisfy their desired delusions. It's disrespectful to us North Africans who are already misunderstood and misrepresented enough as is. Regarding Simon's ethnicity, we can only surmise. It is not unlikely that he was of ethnic Greek descent, but we must also take into consideration that he was born way after the establishment of the Cyrenaican pentapolis, and in a region wherein cultural syncretism, conversion and intermarriage were far from uncommon, meaning he could just as well have been a culturally hellenized Amazigh (or "Libyan"). An example for this surmise is ancient Carthage and the Punic world, wherein skeletal remains have yet to yield any extractions of both autosomal and chromosomal dna showing any Levantine-like genetic traces but instead show genetic affinity with North Africans. It's in a way common to assume that every society was endogamous whereas it really wasn't the case, even if it of course varies.

In the ancient period, what we now call “north Africa” was simply “Africa.” The inhabitants of the northern part of Africa were native Africans. So yes Simon or Simeon was Black.

Are you certain Simeon in Acts is Simon of Cyrene? I know there are a few Simons in the Bible. Just trying to make sure. Doing research on Simon and ran across this video for more information. God bless you!

From the research out there it seems to be so. Simeon and Simon are the same names just in different languages. Thanks for asking.

@@drelizabethadekale You're most welcome! Even though they are the same names, does that necessarily mean they are the same person? For example, I believe there are 9 different Simons that are in the Bible that are each a different person. In that Acts passage, I'm just trying to figure out if that Simeon is the same as Simon of Cyrene. Wrote a screenplay about a fictional descendant of his who is a black woman who slays demons. I appreciate you!!!
