If I understood it right, I think the "Kurikon" joke was a play on "Kurisamsu" (christmas) and "Rikon" (divorce), so basically it's a word that means getting divorced around christmas time lol
@yyyy-uv3po8 күн бұрын
Why so dark? It's probably just "kekkon" (marriage). "kon" actually means marriage, so basically spending your Xmas with your waifu.
@brandonhughes40768 күн бұрын
@@yyyy-uv3po I assumed "rikon" because it would make the word a pun, since it contains both "kuri" and "rikon" with the "ri" shared between them

@DavidCruickshank7 күн бұрын
Because why wouldn't Japan eat normal Christmas food or Japanese food.
@montaedean22116 күн бұрын
to be fair. most fast foods were traditionally closed on Christmas in the US, including KFC. Eating fast food on Christmas had an "outrageous" image. These days, where money is more important than anything, many fast foods are open in America on Christmas, so the image for fast food on Christmas now is "thoughtkess" and/or "poor"

One day when me and my sister were watching Keroro Gunsou, I asked her, "If you had kids, how old would they have to be to watch this anime?" She said, "Oh, absolutely not! I don't even think _we_ should be watching it..." I said, "Hey now, don't get crazy..." Then she said, "He's 40 and he's attracted to a teenager, he keeps spying on people and selling pictures of them on the black market, but at least he likes adults, how old should you have to be to watch that?" I said, "um... That's a tough question..." "What about K-on? That one's wholesome." She said, "I dunno. That teacher's pretty creepy..." Then as a joke, I said, "What about Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutst"? Then we both said, "Definitely not!" Neither one of us could think of a single anime we've watched that we would consider kid-friendly.
@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh51186 күн бұрын
You're lucky you get to talk about anime with someone in your family. Mine doesn't want to talk about it, I have not been able to convince them it's not just "cartoons for kids". But I wish you happy holidays!
This does *not* count for whamageddon purposes kthxbye.

I've heard that Christmas is the day to spend time with your family in America, while in Japan people are frantic to have sex. is that true?
@nandes_7778 күн бұрын
Hmm, Japanese also spend time with their families...It is not necessarily a mistake. Many sexy images and cartoons are created on the Internet about the Christmas season. Japanese people in particular like to play with words, so "聖夜 Seiya (Holy Night)" is slang for "性夜 Seiya (Sex Night)" and so on...Sorry. Japanese people are perverts (some of them).

In all of the west (or at least most of the west) it's a holiday that emphasizes togetherness with your family. Not just parents and children but grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandchildren as well. The more generations under one roof during christmas the better. For example in the Netherlands typically as many family members as possible get together and have a big dinner party. People would arrive just before or around noon though and have coffee/tea and some traditional pastry/sweet together, then between coffee and dinner time the adults will sit around the table and talk to people they haven't seen in a while or be in the kitchen preparing all of the food, whilst the children are entertained by christmas movies or playing boardgames with each other. The US is sort of like that but also includes hyperconsumerism. There tends to be too much emphasis on the gifts and what the gifts signify (such as status) and not enough on just spending time with the family.
