If I may intervene, this was not a sausage salad, it was a so-called meat salad. Depending on the region, sausage salad is prepared with various types of sausage cut into thin strips, cheese and a vinaigrette (vinegar and oil), served with fresh bread from a wood-fired oven. Meat salad, on the other hand, is also sausage cut into thin strips, but the mayo is the key ingredient.
@NotUnymous10 күн бұрын
I do know Wurstsalate that look exactly like that tho 🤷♂️ guess it depends on the region.

Most of the tables are reserved after 5 pm so finding a place to sit down can be a challenge. I found that they played "Country Roads" a lot and was amazed everyone knew the words. Summer Fests are also a lot of fun as well as Faushing (Basically German Marti Gras). I wish I could remember all the good times I had in Munich but the Paulander Tent wiped most of that out. The surfing stream, the beer gardens, the city hall that looks like an ancient cathedral - that big garden in the city center? OMG what a cool place and sooooo much food and beer! Loved it! You pointed out 3 butcher shops in a row, I recognized that exact corner of the area - when I was there in July 2022, there were actually FIVE butcher shops lined up there in a row! I was totally in heaven! I so have to go back to Germany, man. Love me some sausage, and their variety is insane - I also remember that white sausage for breakfast, was super soft, very different for us Americanos - wasn't sure what to eat for breakfast, then they showed me that and I was a little skeptical, but it worked! With some beer for breakfast! Yes! lol Thanks for sharing guys, was a great reminder for me of the amazing trip we took 2 years ago.

There actually a little line on each glass of beer in Germany, wine as well, called the Ausschankmass (colloquially referred to as Eichstrich ). They are legally obligated to fill until that line with liquid, not foam. There's even a law that the calibration mark has to me 10 mm long. If the restaurant says the foam will turn into liquid you can wait till it does and then you reorder for free as it has become stale...

Berlin born and raised, but moved to the USA almost 40 years ago. Still miss the good German food. Especialy breads, yes there are more options beside pretzel. The Döner was invented in Berlin bei a Turkish immigrant. Back in the days it was almost always lamb or a beef/lamb combination. And it was almost always served on a seeded "Turkish pide bread" it's a big round bread, cut into quarters, and a pocket was cut into it to fill it. Berlin is also known for Currywurst, but they should be available in other parts of Germany as well. If you are adventurous you should eat the Berlin version of the pork knuckle. Eisbein. Same cut of meat. But it is brined, and then boiled. It served with mustard, sauerkraut, and yellow split peas, and of course potatoes. Up in the northern part of Germany fish is available in greater quantities as well. Lots of smoked and pickled fish. Also Blut und Leberwurst are great.
