I think one of the biggest issues with this episode is how the big twist about the wubwhip bunyip whatever thing is randomly just brought up. No hints or subtle details about it being a possible thing. It's like a murder mystery where there's three suspects, but the murderer is some random off-screen character who was never mentioned or introduced until the conclusion. XD

To be honest there isn't really much to say about this particular episode, i mean i found it interesting to hear the stories from all 3 characters perspectives especially because i loved seeing AJ as a pirate and that the dress Rarity wore was a Titanic reference, and also fun fact the Tri-horned Bunyip is based on a creature from Australian folklore called a Bunyip.

I think the reason Twilight might have moved the cup with her hoof again after levitation is a mental thing. like yea Twilights magic is pretty precise but theres nothing quite like making sure its juuuuuust right by using your hands (or hooves, in her case) like yea we have a lot of machines that can do things but sometimes we just want that mental level of control you can only really get by doing it yourself. Edit: Also to AJ's hat, I know a lot of people disregard this in canon, but AJ has a whole closet full of her trademark hat. I think it was either Silver Quill or Firebrand who brought up that she proabably only wears the sentimental one on special occasions with low stakes. If she did lose her hat while on the boat, she could just grab another out of the hat closet before Twilight makes her way over to sweet Apple acres. What that DOESN'T explain, however, is how shes wearing the wet and soggy hat at the train station when they get back.

I remember there was a video that examined this episode and determined that rarity was actually the most honest and had the least amount of embellishments while Applejack had the most. Conclusion: Orange Apple Horse is not honest

Applejack's "honestly" has always been less about literally speaking the truth and more about dependability and trust. That said it's an aspect of her character that got increasingly muddled as the seasons went on and she became less of a levelheaded straight man to the other character's shenanigans and more so just another equally absurd participant.

Applejack was honest. She clearly was telling her thoughts ON WHAT SHE THOUGHT, just like the rest. Also rarity didn't seem selfish to me. She was just trying to to do what they all where, and because of it all viewed eachother that way. And they were all crealy irritated with eachother, including pinkie equally

I know it's a kids show and almost everything is portrayed in a childish manner, but are we going to ignore how Rarity, AJ and Pinkie see eachother totally different from what they're portrayed in the show?I mean, AJ sees Rarity as a one dimensional snob, Rarity sees Pinkie as a dum dum and AJ as a serious pirate.Ironically, the one that is considered the group clutz sees the most real version of her friends apparently

Personally I have a less literal interpretation of the episode myself. I think a lot of specific details are mainly there for non-diagetic comedic effect, but there's also an argument to be made that we're seeing Twilight's exaggerated interpretation of the story in her head as well. Unlike a lot of episodes, there's plenty of wiggle room here considering none of what we see during the stories is "real" in-universe.

Having watched all the episodes, your content is the only thing about this show that i still excitedly wait for. I personally hate watching childrens cartoons they're so pretending and just awful but this isn't like that. Its like an adult film plot just without the cursing (other than "what they hay") and things that would make it age restricted The show creators really thought of everyone. Kids with the colourful ponies and adults with the actual plots that aren't cringy like cartoons

As an occasional fanfic writer, I actually love the phrase, "on the other hoof," and have used it to intentionally setup for third and forth hoof options to follow. Not only is it a fun anatomical gag, it can help set pony culture apart as less arbitrarily binary than our own.

Fun Fact: The Tri Horn Bunyip is a actual mythical creature found in Austrian swamps (that's just called a Bunyip), that's said to drowns and eat children and woman who gets too close to the waters edge near lakes and rivers! Looked up my old review from a WiW I used to do for amusement from when this first aired: "The problem with doing Roshomon is that you're being compared to the many other shows that have done it far better like Leverage or DS9. My main problem is that while some of the alternate interpretations are fun like Cap'n AJ I'm really not okay with her especially having such a bad opinion of Pinkie and Rarity given her supposed honnesty. There are some really nice touches but the ending is pretty weak. "You brought those games for us?" I mean c'mon who else would she have bought them for?! On the whole it reminds me a bit too much of Mystery on the Friendship Express which also had members of the mane cast being overly dickish, but alas without the fun and refferences that did so much to redeem that one" Did also remind me of the 'Rarity has crabs' bit either being an ascended meme and/or the show staff sneaking filth under the radar.

I think the BC flag is just to reference its Canadian routes. Some shows put little things like easter eggs here and there. Honestly think that was done on purpose because that would be a really hard mistake to miss. Damn I keep forgetting this is also a Canadian show ( actually Canadian/US). As a Canadian, it's rare to see shows that last as long. All the good Canadian shows are long gone and finished. Kind of sad MLP is one of them. We could do so much better. I hope to change that when I get my TV series up and running soon when I am done college this April. We need more Canadian shows - like full bred Canadian.

Interesting to know that Equestrias naval jack is based off of British Columbias flag. Personally, I like this flag a lot more than the other one as I feel it has more character and also makes more sense to have been the flag flown when the nation was first founded, and not the one that shows the princesses who came to power after defeating Discord. However, it does make sense as a naval jack, seeing as how they have a tendency to be wildly different from the flag of the nation they represent.
