We've only done one Bond film to date, Skyfall. And we definitely needed to get back to that series. With Pierce Brosnan going action again for the upcoming November Man, we figured now was a good time.
Thursday: Sins you've been asking us to do for a long time.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins do YOU want to see recounted?

I don’t care what anybody says , Pierce Brosnan had a certain suave and sophisticated style that made him endearing as Bond. His physicality for the role was convincing. He was a terrific Bond.

I still remember reading a review of, I think, his second 007 film _Tomorrow Never Dies_ that enthused over how much Brosnan fitted the role like a glove. More or less verbatim, it said "He looks like Bond, he moves like Bond, he has Bond's cruelty".

A couple of things about the tank chase scene. 1) He is looking out of the tank because the drivers seat of a tank has really shitty view. That's why the driver of a tank usually is coordinated by the tank commander who is in a higher position with better sights. 2) A tank is easily capable of hunting down cars in a city enviroment. A T-55 tank like the one bond is using can reach a speed of up to 50 kmh. That's enough for an innercity chase where you have to turn frequently. As soon as they get out of the city or come across a long straight street the tank of cousre can't keep up with a car.

Something I just caught while watching this movie for the hundredth time: When Jack Wade meets Bond & Natalya in the Florida keys before they fly to Cuba, he gives them a plane he says he borrowed from a friend in the DEA. In the previous movie Licence to Kill, Felix Leiter was working for the DEA's office in Key West, & Bond helped him capture an identical Cessna from Franz Sanchez. I think Jack's "friend" is Felix, still helping 007 out whenever he can!

1:37 That scene heavily rustled my physics jimmies. First off, Bond starts falling after the plane does. We have a non-aerodynamic man in free fall catching up to an extremely aerodynamic plane in a POWERED DIVE. He wouldn't be able to catch up if they were both in free fall and there is no way he is ever going to catch up when the plane's prop is turning. Even if it's just providing a teensy bit of thrust at near idle. But what bout the lift from the plane's wings? Wouldn't that slow down the planes fall a bit at first? That doesn't help either, because then we have a guy following a ballistic trajectory trying to catch something with lift... which he can only ever do if his horizontal speed is a hell of a lot faster than the plane's. This isn't just highly improbable, it's flat-out impossible as pictured.

Ellis Scott The remake is less my style of gameplay. I dislike regenerating health as a general rule. I especially dislike adapting an older game style to use newer techniques. They feel forced rather than organic like the original. Plus, the decision to change the story to work in Daniel Craig and Judy Dench is really strange given it's based on the 1995 movie starring Pierce Brosnan as Bond. Just some strange, strange decisions so I like the original better. But I'm glad you like it. Try the original sometime if you ever get the chance though.

0:10-0:14 Bond opens the gate after breaking into a guard house at the top of the dam and pressing the respective button, unbeknownst to the guards. The film was supposed to open with this scene, but it was ultimately deleted because Martin Campbell (director) felt it was unnecessary and unrelated to the film's main story. Look for "Goldeneye Deleted Scenes" here and check it out.

Additional sins: 1) Bond uses a laser device to infiltrate the chemical facility from the dam. You can see a dot resembling the path of the laser which jumps around quite a bit but he still manages to trace a perfect line. Also unsure how he aims it since it is mounted to his grappling gun and there is tension from the cable holding it in a stationary position. 2)Car scene near the beginning of the film: Anyone who knows cars will know that the Aston Martin is way out-matched against the Ferrari in terms of acceleration and handling. 3) The film doesn't bother to explain how Ouromov shoots one of his own guards in the gas tank room, yet he fires a "fake" bullet in 006's face using the same gun, in which he obviously survived. 4) In Q's lab there is a fair amount of detail surrounding the BMW Z3 in which he emphasizes the cars gadgets and do-hickeys, yet there is no scene in the film that demonstrates any of those abilities. 5) Valentin's "Take a hike" command at the club is more audible than the gunshot moments before, in which nobody reacted to. 6) Bond discusses an elaborate plan with Valentin in his office that involves performing a service in exchange for a favor, yet there is no footage of the incident or whether it was successful. 7) There were numerous pen clicking moments with Boris that would have resulted in an explosion by not disarming the fuse fast enough. 8) In the train scene after Trevelyan escapes, Bond makes an analysis that there is a 1 inch plating of armor surrounding the exterior of the train. Since he is British he would naturally use the metric system to measure the plating. 9) After learning that Bond had entered the base in Cuba, Trevelyan clearly gave orders to kill him on sight, yet after a brief gunfight he is apprehended by the guards after voluntarily surrendering.

There are moments where you definitely, definitely should have removed some sins😒 1) The dam bungee jump was done for real! I'd say -10 sins! This stunt is absolutely crazy! When you see this dam in real life instead of the movie, your perspective will change 2) Famke Janssen! -2 sins for stealing every scene she's in 3) The plane/bike jump which was also done for real in parts! What you see in the first shot is what you get in the first shot! -5 sins! 4) "I am invincible!"! Just hillarious! -3 sins! 5) Smashing the tank through the wall while the Bond theme is playing! -5 sins for being a badass moment! 6) The casual tie adjusting which you cut out at 9:04 is ridiculously cool! -1 sin! 7) "She always did enjoy a good squeeze." Hillarious one-liner that I would say deserves -3 sins! 8) "For England, James?" "No. For me." This is hands down one of the most badass moments in the series! -10 sins!

Fun Fact: If you carefully get the information out of the motocycle/plane scene, you can calculate the speed James Bond needs to catch the falling plane. The surprising result: Bond actually has to slow down! If he doesn't, he would fly over the plane. So James Bond as a high trained spy solved quite complex differential equations in his head while escaping on a motocycle, and used the breaks right before the edge. What a man!
