The Watchers are supposed to have lost their wings, magic and ability to endure the sun after being banished from the surface by humans in the past, but when Mina persuades Madeline to accept her human half as well as her Watcher half, she suddenly grows wings again. This suggests that the history both humans and Watchers know may be wrong, and that the Watchers' disfigurements have been caused by inbreeding without an infusion of human bloodlines after the two peoples had become estranged. Madeline, being a halfling, once again is what the Watchers used to be.

I drove on a dirt path in the woods at night in a place I was completely unfamiliar with. Then I started to get this bad feeling. So I turned around and marked the package as undeliverable due to darkness, sorry for whomever's christmas that ruined but you should have ordered it sooner. Then on the highway on the way back I suddenly felt thumping, pulled over, and found my tire was basically shredded. Maybe it was a coincidence, but I'm glad I turned around either way. You don't want to be on foot in the woods at night anyway, unless you know exactly what you're doing (like camping) And if I see a sign that says "point of no return" there's a good chance I'm not continuing on unless I know for sure what I'm walking into. However, if I did end up stuck in a place like that and I'm given just four relatively easy rules, I'd run every thought by the people I'm with to see if they've tried it before or think it might bring trouble to the group. I'm not lying to the people I'm going to be stuck with
@damiencopenhaver28886 ай бұрын
I have a similar story relating to doordash. Two miles of dirt road leading back into the woods, I'm getting pretty uneasy, but my grandparents' house is pretty similar I told myself. When I'm finally pulling up near the house I noticed the road seemed to get bumpier, significantly so, which was hard for my fairly low riding car; looking in my rear view, I realized it was going to be damn near impossible to come back out without fucking up my suspension. Still a half mile to the house. I sigh but keep driving, really hate these backwoods homes. I drove another tenth of a mile before coming across a ton of cars in a field, but that's not what made me turn around... Every single car had a license plate. Threw it in reverse. Immediately tried to send my location to a friend but I was getting no service. As soon as I started getting service, I called someone and told them to stay on the phone with me until I got out of there. On my way out this truck comes tearing toward me so I floor it. Thankfully I was back on the part of the road that wasn't going to destroy my car. The worst part is? Back on the main road I check what their food was, DD lets you keep the food if you're unable to deliver it, it was one single big mac. My tip for that order was supposed to be huge.
@talphazero10366 ай бұрын
@@damiencopenhaver2888 Did you make any report? And I know you were fearing for your life, but a few quick pictures of the cars and license plates could've done some good. @KP-oj3jj6 ай бұрын
@@damiencopenhaver2888 Hey, Man! I gotta ask… were you in Tennessee making this delivery? I only ask because I have an eerily similar story when I was delivering food a few years ago. The delivery was in a wooded area as well. I had been driving for about 3 to 4 miles on a dirt road with nothing trees headed towards the residence. Suddenly, the road gets super bumpy with rocks that seemed like the were purposely embedded into the ground. I was driving my wrangler so I had no real problem with it, I just found it very strange. About a half mile up the road, I come to a clearing with maybe 40 to 50 abandoned cars. Some looking like they were there longer than others and most having at least one flat tire (all with license plates from either Tennessee or border states). That was a big ole red flag number two but I said to myself, “I’m already here and I need this tip. F*** it!”. They had put in the delivery instructions that I would be given a nice sized tip for the inconvenience of driving up to the house. But as I’m slowly driving through this clearing, trying to figure out why would there be so many cars there, I spot someone peaking at me from behind the tree line ahead. He obviously didn’t want to be seen. Without a second thought, I put my jeep in reverse and floored it! As I’m backing up, I see the same man start to sprint through the woods towards what I assume to be the residence. I make it back on the main highway then open the bag only to find it’s just a cookie and an order of baked beans from a local BBQ restaurant. Last time I ever delivered food.

I feel like fae are so underrated for exactly the reasons that make this movie strong: they have more naturally tuned magic than something like demons or ghosts, giving access to things like the forest's magical border, and they have a big focus on things like rules and hospitality, hence why the only times they're attacked are directly after breaking a rule.
@medusastone27254 ай бұрын
If the Watchers are fae, then what happens after Mina's little spelunking trip makes a lot of sense, as does Madeline's solution. While they probably weren't thrilled about Mina being down there, what they reacted to so strongly was *being stolen from*. Even surface-level folklore reading will tell you that stealing from the fae is a very good way to get yourself a fate worse than death. And Madeline, being what she is, would know that returning the stolen property was the best way to placate them.

The biggest clue about the twist is the fact that in the video logs the Professor goes up the ladder to shoot the Watcher and you hear two shots in the video, meaning the door to the Coop was open. I was waiting for this vid! I even tried to figure out How To Beat it myself when I saw it in the cinema. I liked it, even though the first half was rather boring :D the lore was really interesting and I loved Madeline. Perfect casting with her. I do wonder why Mina was allowed to keep Darwin at the end though. He's a rare species that belongs to a zoo; no way would that be allowed.

I am so glad that Darwin survived till the end because I was worried that he would get killed by the fairies or become food.

28:10 You can see 2 of the Monsters mimicking the hand holding of Siera and Daniel. At first when I saw the hands I was like "Aww, cute" but then looked at the two people and came back to survivalist mindset.

The real way to not get into this trap is when driving from one major city to another, stay on the highway that carries the many other cars making that same journey. There's no reason to travel up a mountain onto a dirt road to get to one of the biggest cities in your country if you aren't in the third world

Iron. Fae creatures can't stand iron, and the Dullahan has an intense aversion to gold. I've never heard of the Fae being affected by silver, and I've read A LOT of mythology and folklore.
