Golf courses should be higher. +2 amenities is nothing to scoff at, especially when you're playing as Scotland.
@ianleather56992 ай бұрын
Yeah, golf courses being lower than ziggurauts is crazy. They're at least E tier, potentially D just because that +2 amenities could mean +10% science, +10% production, and other amenity bonuses.
@DimaErmakov972 ай бұрын
@@Pickle-man-spider 2 amenities per city is amazing. But its still D imo because reformed church is terrible

@@DimaErmakov97 I agree. When I said it should be higher, I meant higher than F. D or E is a fair place to put golf courses.

Kampungs are absolutely busted and deserve their own tier above S. You focused too much on the yields and ignored their primary draw: housing. Mass Production is easy to beeline if you're doing a naval game, at which point they become basically the same as Seasteads, a Future Era improvement, except you actually unlock them early enough to get use out of them. Being able to turn any free water tile into +2 housing (not to mention the decent yields) means there's a lot of bottlenecks you can just skip past. Forced to settle on fresh water? Nah, just settle near sea resources and build Kampungs. Forced to build granaries and sewers? Nah, just build more Kampungs instead. Forced to sacrifice your highest appeal hexes for neighborhoods? BUILD MORE KAMPUNGS. On top of that, being able to get decent yields from water tiles means you can settle tiny islands or peninsulas other civs won't bother with, and use every single land tile for districts. Kampungs are the best improvement in the game and are criminally underrated in your tier list.

Terrace farms in B is outrageous. Criminal. BLASPHEMOUS. In all seriousness, my perception is admittedly colored by the fact that I typically reroll starts 3-5 times . Not just to get a good start, but to get a start that is fun and synergistic for the civ I am playing. Like, if I were playing the Inca and got the most busted coastal lands ever and a bunch of first-meet city states/goody huts, I would still discard it if I had very few good TF tiles. In any case, even a 1 mountain adjacency + fresh water TF is +2 food/+1 prod/+1 housing. That's two farms plus a mine in terms of return on investment in the early game. They don't scale as well, but because they are instantly available and produce unbelievable yields with good land, they can snowball the Inca harder than almost any other civ ability in the game. I don't understand the notion that the Inca don't take advantage of population or production. Production is the single biggest bottleneck through most of the game, and the terrace farms themselves have at least 1, often 2 or 3 prod.

Imagine if polders were actually proper polders, like they turn the water into actual land with bonus yields and you can put districts on it

@ness60992 ай бұрын
Terrace Farms are S tier. Every other civ in the game from turn 1 until water mills/lumber mills are limited to getting 1 food or 1 prod and 1/2 housing from a tile improvement, but the Terrace farm gets you at least 1 food, reasonably 1-2 more, and up to 6 more (albeit in very niche situations) and 1 prod on a river, 2 prod if next to an aqueduct which is much more controllable. The fact that you can get a builder to create three 2+ food/ 3 prod or 3+ food/2 prod tiles so early is ludicrous. Those terrace farms are Deer/woods/hills levels of yields, and you can control them to an extent. I’m just imagining a civ with no bonus, but they get one of these tile improvements. It depends on the map, but if I know it’s not a naval map then I’d say you’d be best off with the terrace farm.

"Every other civ in the game from turn 1 until water mills/lumber mills are limited to getting 1 food or 1 prod and 1/2 housing from a tile improvement," Have you ever played Cree and used Mekewaps? Basically everytime minimum +1food+1hammer per charge, very common +1food+1hammer+1gold, uncommon +2food+1hammer+1gold, with a full housing on top, soon boosted with another hammer, and another housing and bonus gold. Latemidgame - doubles its bonus food. And Mekewap works every city, not only mountains and Mekewaps do not block best campus / HS tiles. If Terrace farm is S tier (and would be if not competing with campuses), then Mekewap is S++ Terrace farm will not make flat tundra a good place to settle - Mekewap can do this.
@sai638362 ай бұрын
You can also place incan terrace farms on volcanic soil, any volcanic soil, even if its flat land, and this can make them insanely over powered sometimes, ive gotten these things to become 9 6 tiles before

I really want to like Ziggurats, being able to spam an improvement that gives science would give Sumeria some fun potential as a hidden science civ that rewards having large territories, but having to sacrifice population growth (farms) is an especially viscous cycle with how important large populations are when it comes to late game science victories.
@DimaErmakov972 ай бұрын
Mekewap is S imo. 2 housing is a beast and turns cree into a tall empire with necessary yields along with gold. While I think stepwells are bad, ziggurat is worse imo. Stepwell is D, ziggurat is F.

I entered to check where Mekewap is. Available at the very first tech, granting basically +1hammer+1food (as you always have 2 bonuses nearby, this is a mine and farm combined with a possible gold on top). Turning plain hill into 2f3h tile after 1st tech is huge. +1 housing means you don't care about fresh water from the very beginning. Mekewap is also the only UI, that allow you to settle strong tundra / arctic cities and is the only one to give production to cities founded on complete flatland. Around turn 60/70 you get another hammer and housing. After Astronomy - massive gold. And somehow Mekewap is not in its own S+++ tier?
