Hi Greg, nice to see you again in a new video buddy. Generally speaking all true - from my experience salary for setting out engineer varies between 20-23/hr. For site engineer range is 23-28 and seniors can get around 280-320/day. All gross of course and when you're self employed. Worth mentioning as a senior you have more responsibilites and need solid experience. As a senior you do way less setting out but more site engineering, quantyfing, ordering materials, steel drawings, quality assurance etc. All in all it is a very demanding and satysfying job I would strongly recommend as a career :)
@SITENG3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right Rafal, at a senior level you need experience and knowledge, but for entry level you need to know EDM, have proactive approach and will to learn. Good to have you here!!!
@rafaziobron2333 жыл бұрын
@@SITENG Thanks! Entry level is quite easy - there are lot of construction agencies in London for example. You will learn lot of stuff from site engineers. Being a proactive assistant is the best way to do it. Always ask questions. As a beginner I would start with smaller project - site engineer there will have time to explain and teach you lot of stuff where on big projects there is always hustle and no one has time to teach you. Once again - always ask questions :)
@SITENG3 жыл бұрын
Rafał Ziobroń I noticed that as there are more and more robotics on sites, there is less opportunities to get a job as an assistant and learn like you said (which was the best really). Big jobs are definitely busy and demanding, but at the same time giving you the chance to enter with minimum knowledge&experience, once you manage, you're alright, but as you say: ask questions guys!

You don't need education as you know the job, like I said before on the channel everyone can be an engineer here in UK. Once you on site and doing your job well that's all. If a groundworker will take the EDM and do the job right he'll be a good engineer, if the MICE engineer with best school will do it wrong, he will be sacked. Remember this is site engineering and mostly setting out is needed and from there only way is up!

If you have a degree in Civil Engineering that's well enough to start in construction. You can apply for a white CSCS card and start looking for assistant/junior engineer roles. There is a demand for engineers still, but please remember that all is in your hands as they prefer people with UK experience and you have to be active and have a good attitude to get a job.

@SITENG3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aayush! It really depends on the size of the job/company you will be starting with. I would say the best start from setting out. I have a really nice lad who's in college, but job is quite big and he's mostly busy doing cubes and keep all this up to date and don't have much time to work with engineers, so try to go as engineer assistant, or junior engineer and as you graduate don't be worry, everyone knows you will be learning so the scope will be changing as well, as the more you will know and the quicker you learn the more responsibilities will be put on your shoulders.
