It’s been years since I visited WDW in Florida, but I absolutely agree, this is the first time in years I’ve felt Disney Magic. Along with Nintendo, Smash has become a meeting place of my childhood, a ‘00s kid. I’m so excited for Sora and thankful.

I'll try and follow along with the video here. Can't let my thoughts go unshared. :) 1)I really couldn't believe it, despite Kingdom Hearts being one of my favorite series. I saw the leaks, I believed the leaks, but in the back of my mind, I had a bit of doubt. That was why it was still a surprise to see my boy appear in such a spectacular way. The trailer was not only a perfect introduction to Sora, but a perfect end to all of the Smash trailers. I wash honestly shaking when I first saw the Keyblade, and having his KH1 outfit made so much sense due to how iconic that game is. Needless to say, I was incredibly happy! As you said, it was the first time I felt Disney magic in years. I teared up when thinking about it later, just the realization of what happened struck me. 2)The alts that Sora has made a lot of sense, but Timeless River was the biggest surprise! It's still my favorite Disney world in KH2, so seeing it represented here was so good, dude! And every game with Sora getting represented was so nice! I actually think Smash proved how well Sora looks with his original hair in the KH3 outfit. 3)I cannot express how cool I think Sora's moveset is. I think explosion would have been a nice down smash, but one based on finishing leap is also really nice to see, too. The magic from KH1 while using the command deck is something I love. It's all based on KH1's magic system, so all projectiles, but it makes the most sense for a special attack. My favorite part is just that Sora has such synergy in his moveset, which is paramount for a fighting game, of course, but also something only the mainline KH games have (and Re:coded, funnily enough). 4) Hollow Bastion's stage changing into the Dive to the Heart makes it a thematically appropriate stage for Sora, and seeing the other characters appear in such a way was the best implementation for everyone else. I imagine it's a stage I'm going to play on a lot. It's simple and clean. 5)I was wishing we got more songs from the KH games, as there is just so, so, SO much good music in the series, but if they were only to choose music from KH1, which, let's be fair, a majority of the Sora representation is from KH1, I think those are the most solid "general themes" that we could get. I definitely think the music in KH1 has a lot of nostalgic value and is quite solid in its own right, but the boss themes from KH2 and the final boss songs always are bangers. Also, side note, I hope you enjoy Melody of Memories. It's my favorite KH side game to play! It has a lot of amazing music choices and you can actually get quite a fair bit of game time out of it. I platinumed it, but I know most wouldn't go that far. Still, fun game regardless, even more so if you actually like rhythm games. I think $25 is a perfectly justifiable price for it (just forget the other 10 games come in a bundle for $20. lol) Another thing about the power of Smash, this was the first time Melody of Memories sold out since it released! 6) Doom Guy was cool. Relieved he wasn't the final character, but happy he got some representation. I just wish the final set of mii costumes was more exciting. But I got Shantae and Sans and Bomberman, so I'm happy with the overall choices, just weird there was no Shovel Knight. Honestly, out of all the DLC characters, I got my #1 first party, and my #1 third party. A Xenoblade 2 rep made so much sense to me, and I loved that game, so seeing Pyra and Mythra here was nice, and I have a lot of fun playing them, but seeing "Mushroom Kingdom Hearts" become real was so funny to think about! I love this roster, I don't think it can ever be beaten, even with a new Smash game. The only way to be such a thing would be to have Smash become a platform that is built upon instead of make a new Smash from the ground up. Also, I think a Sora amiibo will release, it seems as though part of the Smash contract is each fighter getting an amiibo. It would be silly not to have Disney not allow amiibo to be made, but as for how many, I really do think it would be just the one, but I would love to own a nice KH2 Sora figure. 7)It's been a journey. I've been part of the Smash hype train since 2013, when Smash 4 was announced, and it really does feel like it hasn't stopped since then. I consider this the final stop of that journey, as Ultimate initially started as an extension of Smash 4 on Switch. From then to now, we got 44 characters that had never appeared in a Smash game and 8 that were cut since Melee and Brawl. 52 characters! It's not the end of Smash, but the era is certainly over. What will Smash hold in the future? Who knows, but should Sakurai actually stop, it won't quite be the same. It will be different, but I can wait for the number of years it will take to make. Rest well, Sakurai. I hope that he gets the vacation he needs.

Ome thing to note however. All of the other kingdom hearts games including melody of memory are mainline games, they aren't side games.

Funnily enough, I immediately thought about how you were reacting too right after the big reveal dropped lol. SmashMarioPro, Leon, and I were all pretty much dead right at that moment. I wasn't even paying attention for most of the moveset breakdown because I was just in so much shock and I screamed so much that my voice was shot for the rest of the day. I...I don't even know where to begin. Get ready for what will probably be the longest comment I have ever posted on KZbin. Sora was my most requested character for Smash for a very long time. I'll admit that my hopes for him diminished after Hero and Sephiroth. But you never gave up hope for him. HMK certainly didn't either. And after that leak came out, my hopes were reignited that it could actually be Sora this time. I had so much trouble sleeping the night before the direct because I was just so nervous. I kept telling myself to keep my expectations in check, but I just couldn't. The fact that the music leak could not be disproven was just so strange to me. Looking back, I think I had a gut feeling going into the direct that it was going to be him, even though I didn't fully realize it at the time. My gut was telling me this was it. The time had come. When that trailer was filled with so much darkness after the Smash symbol burned out and there was a single spark of hope; of light, my gut was screaming at me. Sora. It has to be him. He's the light that will cut through this darkness. And the rest is history. First things first, I think thank you's are in order. Not just to Sakurai, Nintendo, Namco Bandai, all of the devs who made this beautiful game possible, all the other companies who participated, and Disney, of course. But to you as well, CJ. You have been one of the biggest and most tenured advocates for Sora that I can think of next to people like HMK. You never truly gave up hope for Sora to get in, and since it is a known fact at this point that Nintendo watches your videos, it shouldn't be so surprising that they made Sora a reality too. To be honest, you have always been one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to Smash speculation. I barely knew anything about Shulk, Mega Man, or Little Mac before watching your videos. So there was something truly special about seeing each of them make it in after the fact. And now you manifested Sora into the game too! You are truly magical, CJ! Thank you for helping to keep the dream alive even when I began to have my doubts. As nice as it is to see the KH games finally coming to Switch, them being cloud versions is disappointing. I can absolutely understand this being the only way to get KH3 and 0.2 on there as the Switch would probably burst into flames trying to run them normally. But the earlier games too? Really? Those can't run normally on Switch? I find that a bit hard to believe. I probably will stick to my PS4 versions since cloud version completely defeats the portability aspect of the Switch. But I hope this option works for people who have never gotten into the KH series and only have a Switch. I'd say my one disappointment from this whole reveal was just that we didn't get any music tracks for KH3 or even KH2 at the very least. The latter one is probably my favorite soundtrack in the series. Vim and Vigor, Rowdy Rumble, The Corrupted, Sinister Sundown, Working Together, The 13th Struggle, Darkness of the Unknown....the list goes on and on. They would have all been marvelous additions to Smash's already superb soundtrack. KH1's soundtrack is still top tier in its own right so I will gladly take these 9 tracks that we ultimately got. The Dearly Beloved Swing Version thing doesn't bother me at all as I was already planning to get Melody of Memory on Switch eventually anyway so this is just one more incentive for me to do so. But SmashMarioPro and I were pretty much on the same page with a lot of things about Sora. We JUST wanted him in the game. Period. Even if he was bottom tier, only came with a single music track, was voiced only in Japanese, no spirits, or just with Destiny Islands as the stage. We didn't care. As long as he was in the game, that was all we wanted. And we got so much more than that in the end. The Fighter Ballot reveal was such a surprise and I never thought we'd ever find out who actually won in the end. I was so sure it was something stupid like Spongebob, Goku, or Shrek. I'm sure those three were on there somewhere. But nope. The winner was Sora...this whole time...wow. And I didn't even vote for Sora back then! I had voted for Snake and Inklings so not only did I get my picks, but Sora didn't even NEED my vote to win it! Bayonetta getting in back then made sense. She was the most realizable one at the time. They probably hadn't even started negotiating for Sora back then or were still in the very early stages of it so there was no way for Sora to be realizable...yet. But oh man. This is all so liberating. It turns out that all those idiots who said Sora wasn't even that popular have been dead wrong for YEARS. And I actually remember telling SMP recently that I believed if Sora was happening, negotiations with Disney might take even longer than Steve. I'm sure the pandemic only slowed the process down even further. But looks like I was right about that! Your comment about this moment being Disney Magic was so spot-on. You're absolutely right. Disney has been getting so much flack in recent years (and for good reasons). So it has been such a long time since I felt this magic that the company once instilled in me as a child through its films, characters, and theme parks. But this time was different. Seeing Sora flying around in the trailer was such a Peter Pan moment. I felt like I was in Neverland. Magic can still happen to you, no matter how old you get. Sora being in Smash is such a good look for the company. It shows that they can play nice with others every now and then. Sure paints them in a better light wfor negotiating with Nintendo than Sony lol. I was pretty surprised that Sora's entire inclusion is primarily based on KH1. From his default model, to the stage, to the music, etc. I thought for sure it would be KH3 since that is the most recent version of Sora. But I really shouldn't be surprised. Look at characters like Mega Man and Pac-Man. Sakurai loves to use the most classic, iconic iterations of characters. Sora is no different. KH1 is more classic and probably the most recognizable version of the character so it makes sense. But still, I'm just happy 3 is also included as an alt as that is the one I will absolutely be using the most. I would expect no less from Daddy Sakurai! I didn't have the most in-depth moveset ideas for Sora so I'm satisfied with what we got. No complaints here. Though, I totally get your disappointment with his down smash not being explosion. His magic and recovery especially look so busted though and I LOVE IT. I think Sora is going to be an absolute terror in the air and it will be glorious! While I still wish we could've gotten Scala ad Caelum as the stage, Hollow Bastion is such an iconic location and the stage looks great. I'm fine with it not being too flashy as I loved that Northern Cavern also just had background flare and no actual hazards. Dive into the Heart is a brilliant touch though. When I saw Sora's final smash, the first thing I thought was "Locking out Twitter be like-" LOL I'm surprised how few Mii costumes we got for this being the final wave. The Splatoon ones felt like they should have been added earlier. Maybe even base game. Maybe they tried to get other third party costumes, but all they could get in the end was Doom Slayer so they added the Splatoon ones to round it off because they had been sitting on them for a while. As far as buying the banner goes, don't wait for Nintendo to do it. I recommend searching it up on Etsy. I saw people were selling earlier versions of the banner before all the DLC was even announced so I'm sure they will start selling the complete one now with Sora on it. That's how I plan to try and get it anyway.

I also can't wait to see how this will be cannon to KH4 lol because you know Nomura will absolutely do it. Even if he has to explain the Smash Sora is just a different version of Sora like the data one. I wouldn't worry about the whole amiibo thing. I'm confident Sora will get one too. They probably just didn't mention it because they are likely so far behind on production of these things (thanks covid) that Sora's is not coming any time soon. I mean, we're not getting Min Min until next year and Sakurai didn't even have the Steve one with him in-person like he usually does. At this rate and because he's the last one, it will probably take a couple of YEARS before they eventually get around to doing Sora. Though, the idea of his amiibo being exclusive to Disney Land/Disney World is terrifying because that absolutely sounds like something Disney would do. It's especially worrying because the only Disney store in my town at my mall went out recently thanks to the pandemic. That would've been a great place to sell it if he is in fact going to be exclusive. Though, they haven't done store-exclusive amiibo in such a long time that I honestly don't think this will be the case. Also, don't hold your breath on all of his alts getting an amiibo. If Zombie and Enderman didn't happen, it won't happen for Sora. All in all, this was the best timeline. The best possible ending to Smash Ultimate. Besides Sephiroth, I honestly hadn't been too impressed with the second fighter pass. But Sora was the game changer. Purchase completely justified. I now have every character I could have ever wanted in Smash. I got Mewtwo back. I voted for Inklings in the ballot and they got in. I got Snake and Pokemon Trainer back. I even found new favorites in Cloud, Joker, and Banjo. And now, I get to add Sora to that list. They could take a decade to make a new Smash game for all I care or never do one again (though I doubt that). Either way, I'm set. Smash Ultimate is complete for me. It's real. It's not a dream. And it will take probably years to fully sink in. It has been exhausting being a Sora fan these past few years with the internet constantly telling you you're wrong to believe. Disney won't let it happen. Imran Kahn reported that Disney blocked Nintendo. Square Enix has enough characters. Anime swordsman this. Bland or cringe that. Disney will buy Nintendo. Blah, blah, blah. So many people telling you to just give up hope. But now, it's all over. All of that toxicity disappeared the second that keychain popped up in the flames. All the haters crawled back into the woodwork with their tails between their legs. This feels like such an anime or even a Disney princess ending lmao. Dreams can come true if you believe hard enough. People will tell you to give up or that you're stupid or wrong for believing in something that's important to you. But they don't matter. They shouldn't stop you. Believing and dreaming are so important. It's how we feel so alive. It has been a very long time since I put my blind faith in something, so to see it pay off in the end is so cathartic. Sora is in Super Smash Bros. These are actual words coming out of my mouth. I just can't believe it. Thank you, Mr. Sakurai. Thank you.

I find it funny a Disney character was announced to be in a fighting game the same day as a Nickelodeon fighting game launched. Also, IDK about Scalping but people have certainly gone crazy for merchandise at Disney Parks (especially recently with the 50th anniversary merch for WDW).

6:38 CJ, you were right on the money there about me, Advocate, & SmashMarioPro losing our freaking minds at Sora's reveal. For me, I'd grown up with Kingdom Hearts since the very first installment came out on the PS2 years ago in the early 2000's. I'll never forget first coming across a Japanese scanned image in a gaming magazine about it coming soon the US in September, if I recall correctly. Saw images like Sora, Tarzan, and Donald or Goofy getting ready to face off against Clayton on the Stealth Sneak, as well as Sora fighting against Genie Jafar alongside Aladdin, which made me absolutely ecstatic in my childhood begging my parents to get for my birthday. Sora getting into Smash Bros., with Ultimate celebrating everything gaming iconic, is a serious achievement. Like you said, it truly felt something straight outta a timeless Disney magical moment from their movies, which is something they aren't really so recognized for anymore because of their unfortunate notorious reputation for buying out other competitive film companies in the industry. Sakurai & his hard working crew went all out for Sora's reveal trailer getting the me most emotional for a Smash trailer I've arguably ever been. It captured Sora's personality of optimism beautifully, which I love how he didn't even kick anyone's butt in the cinematic parts of it, but was there to restore their light literally and symbolically for Smash Ultimate's spark of entertainment. It's a powerful reminder how magical this series is. My childhood has come full circle here with this amazing announcement of two iconic franchises crossing over to conclude Ultimate's DLC run. History has been made and there will never be another game like what Ultimate achieved, ever again. Thank you, Masahiro Sakurai.

I actually quoted you regarding the Sora reveal. I actually said that it was never going to happen because if they were having licensing issues with Sephiroth, no way in heck Disney would get on board with Sora. Then it happened. I then joined Green Scorpion with a plate of my own words (he was eating his own words regarding Sora for the same reason), and quoting you said my words were "cold, bitter, and delicious", referencing your reaction to Bomberman as a launch title for the Switch.

Can I just point out that Ultimates theme Lifelight fits so well for Sora, cause literally the light guide him on his way to the ultimate fight. Like that Song fits him not only that, but he awaken the true light in smash as the final DLC character.

So changing the subject a bit, apparently Nintendo 64 games will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online with Banjo-Kazooie being one of those titles that will come as a future release. Thoughts on that?

I'm pretty sure the "we don't have a big budget" was a joke. Sakurai said it when he was talking about recording these directs and how simple of a set up they had. Obviously they don't have a small budget, it just looked that way, that was the joke.

Some clarification on how long it took for Steve and Sora: Steve didn't take five years to negotiate from my understanding Mojang and Microsoft were ready to go off the bat, the reason he took so long was the fact his gimmicks required the stages, all of them, to be reworked. Sora on the other hand... up to interpretation of what little i heard i believe there was just one man standing in the way. Former CEO Bob Iger. And if it's true it's probably because Blob wanted to consume Nintendo into his corporate mass like he did everything else.

A Microsoft rep on twitter (or at least someone involved in the negotiations) confirmed it took 5 years for this to happen. Business decisions like this, especially when dealing with overseas and other languages, and on "rival platforms" take their time. I highly doubt it was because Disney wanted to consume Nintendo. That just sounds like an urban myth with coincidences surrounding it. Nintendo has worked with Disney before and vice versa (cards, games, giving out free Switches to screenings of Frozen 2). Yes, Bob wanted to buy as many brands as he could, but there was nothing about Nintendo being on the agenda. Plus, this decision took place in 2019 (when FP2 was finalized) when Bob Iger was still in charge. Trust me, I've been keeping up with the Disney stuff on another channel called "Midnight's Edge".

Honestly, I find the notion that Disney wouldn't allow Sora to join Smash to be a bit "silly". Don't get me wrong, it's perfectly understandable, but after the recent history of Disney characters showing up in other companies games, that excuse doesn't hold much water. I mean we have Wreck-it Ralph in Sonic all-stars racing Transformed, Marvel characters in Fortnite, Pirates of the Caribbean in Sea of Thieves, and Jungle book costumes in Fall-guys. Literally, all of these examples was what gave me hope for Sora to join Smash.

Spoilers: The spirits are all the important the characters through the games without any Disney characters which are Riku, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Axel, Xion, and Roxas. What I want to know, how is Roxas the 4 star legend spirit? Although they are missing out Namina, Xehanort, and the rest of Orginazation 13.

I remember watching your smash reviews, character prediction and wishlists from brawl to smash 4 I was only in the 2nd grade when smash 4 showed Villager, Wii fit, and my personal fav, Megaman. This series has has been with me since I was a toddler. Now a sophomore in high school, it fills me with so much joy and happiness seeing most of your wanted characters from almost a decade ago come true. Seeing K rool, Banjo, Little mac, Shulk, Ridley, and literally everyone you wanted get added in is just magical in a way. For my whole life this has been with me, and seeing it end this way is practically a dream come true I still find it hilarious that I was already on the smash hype train since I was in elementary school. Seeing you just gush about everything smash is just funny and great to me, and realizing that its been almost 10 years since smash 4 is. Oh man.. I honestly didnt care about of your other content besides smash Everytime a new smash character was announced I came here to see your reactions to everyone When I saw Banjo I immediatly came here nearly 2 years ago. Now that this series is complete it feels like the end of an era. No more smash specation, rumors, hoaxes, waking up early for directs and watching them with friends before school. Honestly, the 'Sora leaks' have been going on for as long as the DLC waiting period has been happening. For three years, the so-called leaks have been saying that 'Sora's gonna be in the next one- guaranteed!1!' for each and every reveal, when in reality... no, he wasn't. They've been repeating this trend for three years now, so saying that the leaks were true doesn't mean they were right. It just means that they got lucky that it actually real in the first place. These same, desperate attention-seekers are in the same category as those who have been wanting Geno or Waluigi in Smash Bros as a playable character, but I will admit there's a clear difference between the two: Geno had a glimmer of a chance, but his possible moveset was already existing and diverse as a Mii fighter, and add ontop of the fact that some of the old rights holders for Geno may have said no, then that's it. Waluigi... those thinking he was gonna get in as a playable fighter via DLC have some serious brain damage or something- he was already IDed as an Assist Trophy on the first day before the game launched. How the fuck would Waluigi be playable in Ultimate when an Assist Trophy version of him already exists in the same game??? Here's a hint: it's a trick question.

You didn't see the actual Sora leak did you? This was legit. The person on 4chan said they worked for Disney Music, said Nintendo requested to use several tracks for a "Digital Event" on October 5th, and this was posted on July 30th. It got no attention until we saw the announcement for the final character. This was a LEGIT leak.

@@cjszero01 perhaps so, but forgive me for taking this with a pinch of salt- fake leaks have been a thing before [mainly the Grinch Leak being a primary example], and people made the mistake of believing a word they said. So hearing about the ‘leaks’ for Sora, Master Chief and pffft Waluigi 🤣🤣🤣- I chose to ignore these idiots from the get go, refusing to speculate on whom was being added next because someone in the office decided to sink their own career on a hoax crack pot theory about whom was joining Smash Bros. So while the leak may have had some sustenance to it, keep in mind this idiot has gone and compromised his career in exchange for five seconds of fame.

@@cjszero01 I have a theory that when ever a character from a 3d game is included in Smash. The character is usually simplified. Olimar has three Pikmin, Ganondorf uses close combat, Bayonetta can't use her weapons outside of the guns, and Sora is KH 1.
