Dude that slow overhead squat drill is genius, I'm gonna do that every snatch session now. Thanks for the awesome vid 👌
@HadynWiseman4 жыл бұрын
It's hard to do it slow enough but the point in doing it slow is so your body feels and learns the balance point at every part of the squat. Helped me a lot!

I started learning weightlifting and it is a crucial element. It helps me a lot to do that slow overhead squat. No wonder why weightlifters are so strong, it demands many muscle action to be that stable!! (Nice vid mate by the way)

Really excellent video. Clarence, don’t take this wrong, but you make things look so easy in most of you videos, they provide great entertainment but not as much instruction (to the extent any KZbin video can be instructional in 10 minutes). These queues and general foundation recommendations are obvious after the fact; but coming form someone who directly benefitted from it made it approachable for us mortals. Thank you and really well done
@desoaable4 жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly doing weightlifting but I really like to try out different variations of squat, so far I've been doing Back Squat and Front squat, and then I watch this video where you tell us to get stable, after that I tried out to do overhead squat just to try it out and it turns out after trying that it actually improved my back squat and front squat by alot, not saying that it magically increase the weight that I lift but more like it actually helps me to get really stable as I go down and go up during squatting as sometimes I get really wonky when I either go down and up. Really good tips that you share with us thank you Hadyn!

You have a knack for explaining things in a very simple yet engaging and deep way. It probably means you really understood these concepts. These are the absolute best tips I think I've seen for weightlifting and all summoned up in a very short video. Thanks to both you and to Clarence. I'm really inspired. The first tip might about being stable might be the most important.

Fabulous! No chaff in this video. I love it. Note: Have you found that Olympic Lifting interferes with bodyweight skills? Planche, Front Lever, HSPU, OAC, Muscle Ups ... so forth. I don't know how many of those you have achieved, but gauging by the Maltese in your profile picture I imagine your bodyweight skills are preeeeeeettyyyyyy good.

Thanks! I didnt actually train them during this but I feel like everything was at least retained. I think if I was to go back to bodyweight right after this then I would see some good progress quickly but it's too demanding doing both at the same time 👍

The pull for the clean and deadlift may seem similar but they really aren't. I found that clean deadlifts take way more out of me compared to normal deadlifts. Keeping your hips low makes it way harder. A good carryover for me was that my normal deadlift form became really good.

If you had to choose between weightlifting and powerlifting, which would you choose and why?
@HadynWiseman4 жыл бұрын
That's super hard to choose between. I think weightlifting is more well rounded. If you are good at it you have to have good flexibility, explosive power, coordination and you'd have a huge squat and deadlift from it anyway. However it's not popular at all. Like the best powerlifters have huge followings and can likely make more money from it. I think I'd choose weightlifting for the well rounded ness but it's a brutal sport and not sure I could mentally sustain the training required. It keeps it fun by swapping my focus often.
