Fabi really is one of the greatest chess players in history. After the 2018 WCC, Magnus said that Fabi had shown himself to be his equal in classical, only being weaker than Magnus in rapid. Whether true or not, it represents high praise and a show of deep respect.

@@michaelmassaro4375 Magnus is obviously better than Fabi but the WCC between them was twelve draws followed by Magnus edging him out in rapid. These weren't quick draws either but gruelling slugfests. I don't think anyone's gone toe to toe with Magnus like that.

Yeah that was one of the most heartbreaking draws I've ever seen, Nepo was suffering too at the board. I think that made Fabi even stronger, I love to see the younger generation rising up and these old lions fighting. Also, Fabi's generation is the bridge one between before and after engines training. From a 1800-1900 player - might sound a strange advice, but analyzing over the board will help you more. And also try playing against yourself over the board making moves you think will be good for both sides. Then go back a few moves, explore another line you thought of, repeat, use the engine when you can't think of any other good moves to check if you missed anything and try to also understand why the engine moves are better

@@alexanderstoyanov7464 what i notice is if we are losing games because of simple tactics especially below 3 moves tactics then no mayter how much wr analyse our games we will surely jeep loosing. Analysis with computer is better when you lost positionally in an equal game or making mistakes in the openning (not tactical but traps). Otherwise if we are loosing because of tactical weakness then puzzles is the way to go.
