With Dimash, I often clear my head and hear a song for the first time again (even if it's the 15th time). I tend to live in the moment and Dimash sings within the moment, so every time is the first time for me :) --I'm always so happy with his fave instruments, piano and violins

Студийная запись Иканайде, у ДИМАША, это бриллиант в его коллекции. Такого чистого, такого контролируемого и прекрасного звучания я в жизни ни от кого больше не слышал. I'd love to see your analysis of the Chinese version of this song "Autumn Strong." My favourite performance is his Arnau concert in Kivy, Ukraine, just before the Covid-19 pandemic forced Dimash to cancel the rest of his tour. In it he wears a red suit. I also heard Dimash say to the audience in a more recent concert, "Would you like me to sing the next song in Mandarin or Japanese?" Yes Dimash is unique in so many different ways.

This is what the poet Goro Matsui who wrote the lyrics for Ikanaide said about Dimash's performance at the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Its taken from an interview with the Dimash Japanese Fan Club “I’ve heard ‘Ikanaide’ sung by foreign singers in their native language many times, but this is the first time anyone has sung it so beautifully in Japanese.” On December 9, Goro Matsui gave a short interview to the DJFC Japanese fan club, where he shared in more detail what got him caught up in Dimash’s performance of the legendary composition: “I happened to find Dimash singing “ikanaide” by chance. The first thing that surprised me was his crystal clear tone and his expressiveness voice that conveys the lyrics of the song. I’ve heard other Asian singers sing “Ikanaide” in their native languages several times. However, even though they all sing great, none of them seemed to quite capture the sound/reverberation and meaning of the original lyrics/words, and perceive the emotions between the lines. In this song, the phrase ~ Ah, ikanaide~ is repeated several times in the chorus. Although they are the same exact words, each line has a different meaning. I feel that Dimash seems to knowing it.” Goro Matsui wrote “Ikanaide” together with Koji Tamaki in 1989. The poet shared that at the time, Tamaki rarely sang the song at his concerts. It took a long time before the singer started performing it on stage again. “This song is very difficult to comprehension like this even for the original singer/composer. I believe to be able to sing this song, you need to have “the time” which is many life experiences to fully express the songs lyrics, not just with singing ability.” Also, Goro Matsui shared that he would be glad to hear Dimash perform some more songs that he composed together with Koji Tamaki, for example, “Anokoro e” (“Back to the time”) and “Friend”.

I’d love you to hear Quaragym-ai which has no extreme notes at all. He sung it on an empty stage with a pianist to accompany him. They both wanted to pay tribute to a beloved collage professor who had died from covid. Dimash finds the song very emotional to sing. It is heartbreakingly special. @@SirHairless Hello dear Sir, I just came back to rewatch this wonderful reaction & analysis! Sharing music and meaningful feelings is my favorite hobby and your channel has been my favorite place for it lately - so, it's a huge pleasure to be here :) Regarding Dimash's popularity in Japan, I think it's still not big enough because when I showed this performance to my cousin and his japanese wife (who is a singer/music teacher passionate about brazilian music) neither of them had heard about Dimash before (they've been living in Japan since 2017 and, just like us, they both loved Dimash's rendition of the classic Ikanaide)👌

@@SirHairless Yesss, it happens the same with me: I always see lots of comments from brazilians on reactions to Dimash but I don't know anyone from real life who knows him before I show him to them... it's a weird thing indeed (and the same happens to other new talented artists too)! I have no idea what is behind this mystery but I'm glad that Internet helps us to find some alike people to share/discover alike interests in this crazy universe of miscellaneous material available. Somehow the music reaction channels on YT seem to own a very powerful/key role in this current scenario (I think they help new singers/bands to find/build/expand their target audience)...

Something about his voice pierces my soul as well. I think it's probably his ability to marshal every ounce of his talented being to communicate emotion. If you listen to his interviews, he directs attention away from the notes and stresses the emotional content of a given song as what's crucial to him. It shows, and I suspect it's why he doesn't limit himself to any one genre but instead uses elements of many styles of music to convey the meaning he wants. Thank you for another fantastic reaction/analysis by Sir Hairless.

Dimash sang the Chinese version of this song, called "Autumn Strong" or "Late Autumn", on Singer 2017. Some things, like the soprano passage (except for a different last note), were in that version too, but the lyrics are different. That performance was the first time he had sung in Chinese to a Chinese audience. See the video "Dimash translated : the true story behind "Autumn Strong" with English Subtitles" for a version of the story behind the song, on Gloria Wu's channel (G Wu). Maybe for copyright reasons, that video is slowed so the song is a semi-tone lower. He ends that performance much like he did 2 performances later on "Adagio" (but more beautifully ?). Check that version out - I think it was his most emotional performance of the competition.

This song gets me every time... again and again. Chills, emotional and some tears... over and over again. You were spot on in your analyses, exactly how it is and feels. Love the original but Dimashes... I"m lost everytime. So so beautyfull.. Thank you!

I am Japanese and speak it, and I love this song. Dimash has also sung the Chinese version of this song. Autumn Strong or Late Autumn, depending on who translates it. I do love the Singer version, but I also love the version that's on his channel from his Arnau concert in 2020 kzbin.info/www/bejne/amSaenipea6NnKcsi=p5dfbCoYLZg41OfK . Dimash usually sings the Chinese version as it's the first version he sang, but for the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival he gave us this version. He has sung both versions in one of his concerts, but there are only fancam footage of that.

Both versions are equally beautiful. Each in his own style. ❤ I love how Dimash often gives us comfort with his voice. He also did that in the middle of The Story of One Sky. It is like he knows the pain, and he is hugging our soul with his voice.

Since you like this, you'll also want to check out "Daybreak" from the Bastau concert (best version). It's from a true event and he pours his soul into it.

Story of one song live performance

By accident I started watching the Chinese singer show and that’s when I heard him singing this very song for the first time ever. I started crying inexplicably. I think my soul knew what was going to happen, because 10 days later my father was dying, I think God sent Dimash to help me deal with my father’s death. I showed Dimash to my father a few hours before he passed away😭 If it wasn’t for Dimash, I wouldn’t have been able to get out of that dark place

Thank you for sharing your very personal story. I completely understand. I am going through a difficult period of life and Dimash's songs help me take my mind off the sadness. I listen to his music every day and it helps me a lot. I think his music should be recommended as a therapy, it is so beautiful. Why not? Hope you find happiness again. Wish you all the best❤✌️

Crying inexplicably. This is what many of us share in our experience of Dimash. He is far beyond just singing, he has become part of my lifestyle. A fully engaging and necessary art in my days.
