You did not clean this house for "free" with good intention. You did it for the huge stack of KZbin cash. There's nothing wrong with making a living on KZbin, but there is a lot wrong with phony good deeds and pretending to be a good person in order to get a pat on the back and a reward. If you really want to do good for others with sincerity, don't record an ounce of it and tell no one else but the person you are helping out. Ever heard of "Don't tell your right hand what your left hand is doing."? There's a reason for that phrase.

I’ll go back and forth between phases where I’m obsessed with cleaning nonstop and then where I’m having depressive episodes and don’t clean at all and my apartment can get so bad almost like this sometimes … and the mess just makes me feel worse about myself. But knowing that I’m not the only one who has this struggle is so comforting. And watching this video has motivated me so much to clean now.
@jzen1455

I tend to do one major super clean and purge a year. I tell myself "ok. I'm keeping this place clean from now on!" I'll be good about it for a few weeks but then a small mess here and there ends up looking like a landfill in no time. I'll then put off doing a major clean for another year.
@ashleyrebecca3991
@ashleyrebecca3991 2 жыл бұрын
@@jzen1455 that’s pretty much how it is for me too! Every time I fully clean my apartment, I say to myself “okay I’m not gonna let it get like that again” and like you said, for a few weeks give or take, it’s easy to stay on top of it and then all of a sudden you lose momentum or motivation and before you know it, it’s a mess again. I haven’t gone a full year without cleaning, but I’ve had a month or several months of not cleaning. I just have to keep reminding myself that it’s so much better for my mental health to keep cleaning in my daily or weekly routines.

@@ashleyrebecca3991 I don't know if this helps you. But I kind of used my ex-girlfriend as an excuse for tidying up my flat. I drilled it into myself that it had to be tidy when she was over and that actually helped me staying on top of things for the entirety of that relationship. Afterwards I fell behind a bit. But I guess all that repetition paid off and my flat has never been in a state where I couldn't get it clean within a single day. In case you don't have a partner maybe try the same thing with a friend who visits regularly.

I made a friend a while back and we always hung out at my house. She got really sick once and I did the rude thing of showing up to her house unannounced. Her house was worse than this and I just started cleaning. I made her promise she would get therapy and medication if needed. I would come tidy up for one month after she started meds. As they entered her system I had to clean less and less. I wish we would de stigmatize ALL depression symptoms. Not just too much sleep and sadness. She needed help so I did. In Brazil if you hire a cleaner, she/he will judge and have no shame to ask “how your house got to this point” to something much less worse. I never forget when my niece was a baby and me (then recently fired) and my mom were dying to take care of her while still grieving my depressive sister’s suicide and I hired a team of cleaner’s because the house was a mess and I heard that question from one of them and even telling our life story, I saw on their eyes that they thought it was an excuse, and I also judged myself in that moment, feeling like I was really giving an excuse. One year later my mom almost died and since then I’m constantly overwhelmed and pulled away from my work attempts. Her mental issues got worse and the house needs a deep/heavy cleaning again, I have no time and strength and also I have no courage to hire someone to feel bad that way again…

Same, I have to force myself to clean when my depression is at its worst. I feel a little better when my space is clean. The work up is the problem. My counselor told me to place things that need to be toss in a bin/ trash bag and keep other things in their designated place after I use them. Trash still accumulates but its in a bag that I can quickly toss and dishes are in a bin tote so I can quickly get and wash them, when I work up the power to do it.

This is one of many things I didn't know about depression. It's very painful to 'wake up' and see clearly the mess you've made (literally or figuratively), and realize that you're going to have to spend your fragile, exhausted recovery time tackling a mountain of things that need fixing. FWIW, for anybody still going through it...it IS possible to plan around the eventuality of your next (for most of us inevitable) depression...so that it's milder and gentler, and you don't backslide so far. It takes time, and trial and error...but it can be done. I'm doing it! Not perfectly, always, but every little bit helps, you know? Figuring out your warning signs (it's dishes accumulating in the sink and backed up laundry for me), figuring out the tools that help you push through, and reminding yourself to use them. (Music! Tea! Hugs! Remembering that if you don't clear the sink it's definitely going to be 5000000x worse later, and anyway you've timed it MULTIPLE times now, so you know and can remind yourself that even though it seems impossible right now to wash a sink full of dishes it's actually only going to take you ten minutes or less, after which your life will be measurably improved, and knowing that makes it possible to get started, and getting started is the hardest part....etc.)

I constantly get made fun of by my family for my "depression room". I used to be so bad to the point I had mold growing on a ton of dishes in my room, my floor was covered, my trash was overflowing, my laundry was so full. I’ve always been a tidy person so it was an all time low for me. I would avoid anyone from being in my room because I was so ashamed and just disgusted with myself. I was also in a very unhealthy relationship at the time so I was just falling apart. What dragged me out of that was videos like this, it felt better to clean with someone, it didn’t feel as much as a chore. People who make videos like this are such amazing people, especially this women for going out of her way for free, to help people.

Yes LORD! And I have 9 cats. It takes motivation, determination, a little bit of planning and the need to actually move on a project when the urge hits you (if it ever hits you) lol. One thing that helps me is to divide my project into 'zones' so I don't become overwhelmed by the scope of whatever needs to be done. I congratulate myself after every small task telling myself all the small steps equal one big step. This works so well for me. If the entire kitchen is a mess, and we've all been there its appliances one by one, counter tops, walls and windows if it's seasonal cleaning, then mopping the floor. This might take 3 it 4 days but the gratification I feel after each task just can't be beat. Its so wonderful how every one is so full if inspiration and support for this young woman's journey AND the people she helps. Truly an inspiration!😅🎇

I want to tackle it all but I'm unsure where to begin..its overwhelming and once I start I get easily discouraged and sad and want to lie down. It's confusing even to me how I ended up this way...it happens slowly over time and before you realize you have become accepting of conditions you never would have dreamed you could. It's frightening and disappointing to be faced with your failures in a very visible way daily which only serves to increase the depression. Once the room is clean the mind feels less overwelmed and has more time to heal some more. Consider it your daily pill to clean just for 10 min.
