So what are your reccomendations for dermarollers? X
@megancollins99317 жыл бұрын
Fiona Midgley I got mine from Dermstore.com and it's just what I was looking for! They are an authorized seller so you know it's great quality. They sell ones that are a smaller size needle and then they have a kit with a few different heads for the body, lips, and under eyes, but that one is more expensive. They also come sterilized in a package like you would see in a surgical office or something! It comes with its own plastic case to put it in after you use it which is awesome because you never want to just set it somewhere. It could get dust and bacteria on it and you could bend the needles which is a HUGE no no! I ALWAYS sterilize mine with isopropyl alcohol (nothing lower then 91%) before and after I use it. I hope I helped a little bit :)

I use a .05mm dermaroller and have read different things about how often to "roll". I''ve now given myself 4 treatments with 3 weeks in between each - can I do it more often without damaging the collagen in my skin? And, eventually, if I go to the next longer needle, do I have to wait longer between "rolls" - is there a rule of thumb about this? Also must tell you I use Kate Somerville's Dermal Quench with Retinol after rolling (and every evening) based on seeing the product in your video and (I think) between the two my 58 year old skin has been transformed and looks 110% better. I do this myself because I find the facial clinics descriptions of treatments offered terribly confusing and all so different I have no idea how to decide. Thank you for all of this invaluable information - it really, really makes a difference for the better.

When you say derma rolling is that the same thing as micro needling? I became terrified after I read somewhere that someone (could I be more vague?) spread a latent cold sore on to the rest of her face....So she has recurring cold sores on half her face. Love this! First, CH that purple pink color on you is sooo good. Second, with as long as I've been dealing with acne (15 years and counting) I have to agree with you that you shouldn't go to a GP for skin issues. A dermatologist just KNOWS what they are doing. A GP does not! GPs are great for flus, strep throats, infections, etc. Dermatologists know skin, live breathe dream skin.

Great video. Why is glycolic acid not suitable for darker skins?
@kaystary7 жыл бұрын
Janelle Bryan I am not an esthetician but I've heard and read that darker skin tones are by nature more sensitive. Glycolic is aggressive on our skin and often leads to irritation because it's too harsh. I much prefer mandelic acid because it gives the same result that glycolic gives without the irritation.
@devon.pfeifer7 жыл бұрын
Hi Janelle! Good question! I'm an esthetician, so hopefully I can answer this as clear as possible. Darker skins produce more melanin than those with lighter skin, so often stronger glycolic acid peels can trigger more melanin production, resulting in splotchy skin tone, or pigmentation issues. Glycolic acid has the smallest molecular structure of the alpha hydroxy acids, so it penetrates the skin very easily. I always get someone prepped using a melanin suppressant of some kind, no matter what type of peel I use, to minimize the likelihood of this happening on a client with medium, dark, and deep skins. I personally don't believe in strong high acid peels, especially for clients of a darker skin type. A cleanser or treatment product with glycolic acid is usually okay for at home use, as they are generally not peel strength products. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions! :)
