My dad never made more than $150k a year (only salary the family), but he was at all of our after-school activities, coached little league, ate dinner with family every night, and still saved enough to pay for (modest) vacations and half of our public college tuition. He just visited Europe for the first time and is excited to travel the country in a camper van with my mom during retirement. My MD makes over $2mm a year (in addition to a highly-paid spouse) and stresses about private boarding school tuition, misses family events, takes weekly 6am cross-country flights, and regularly questions if the delayed gratification plan he's had for the last 20 years will be worth it. @tessellationarts29715 жыл бұрын
@@burt792 Your numbers are all wrong. Your keywords on google are also wrong. Don't put "EU average income tax", but put "How much income tax rate do the average people pay in EU?" In short, your numbers are average by countries, not by people, which is what really matters. In reality you have way way more people on the 60% tax bracket instead of the lower ones, thus subsidizing the rest of the EU. For corporate, that number is even more absurd, closer to 70%. How are you going to stimulate growth this way? Eventually, the money has to come from somewhere. You're (or someone else is) paying for it, just under a different label. If you were to pay for your hospital bills why would you ever wanna have an inefficient middleman (a.k.a the government) is beyond me. Why not just pay for it directly? This way everyone can be responsible for themselves, it forces you to put effort into staying healthy because we can all agree that paying sucks, so this cut off the very unneccessary people with "who cares, someone is paying for me anyway" mentality to be carried of. I supposed your number on US was also wrong, so I went on a little adventure for the real number, and even if accounting for four income-based categories of taxation (Federal, state/local, social security, and Medicare), the number comes at 29.8%. So... half the amount than that of the EU, of course you guys got 'free stuff'.

@@AxiomaticUncertainty Thats very true. If you look at cost of living calculator. 178k in NYC is the equivalent of 85k in like Chicago. So in reality, he’s doing well but his dollar doesn’t really go that far.
@AxiomaticUncertainty3 жыл бұрын
@@chalpua8802 Sort of-- what you have to consider in cost of living calculations is that you'd still be spending a large chunk of your money outside of your place of residence. When you and he take vacations, for example, that difference is irrelevant and he's effectively saving money versus someone whose salary is scaled directly. The same is true of student loans, savings for retirement and personal expenses, and a number of other things. When all of that is considered, he's still probably able to save and spend more than someone making, say, $100-120k/yr in an area with a medium cost of living (especially given his high savings rate).
@chalpua88023 жыл бұрын
@@AxiomaticUncertainty If all things are equal in terms of debt, the cost of living for him is so much greater. My friend is a software developer in San Fran and makes 150k. As an ex-consultant myself, I never tracked my expenses. Just minimized everything and invested as much as I could. Amazed he had all that time and energy to track everything!
@TheGreekGodOfWallStreet2 жыл бұрын
I never track expenses or plan a budget either, just minimize expenses and maximize investments. I guess some people feel more organized when they do it. I always found it limiting. For example, this guy allocates $500 a month to his Roth IRA, so what happens when he has an extra $100 lying around? Usually people stick to the plan; invest $500 and find a way to blow the other $100. But, if expenses are minimized why increase them to stick to your plan? It’s also possible he made the budget just for the video, but he comes off as someone who would have a budget.

He gets paid a lot for someone so young, but he also works 15 hours a day!!! Not including being exhausted from the frequent visits to the airport. If he worked in software engineering, he could get 80% of that salary with 4 hours per day of legitimate work.

This guy is an extreme outlier, even after taking cost of living in NYC into account.
@amesasw5 жыл бұрын
Finishing gradschool that earlier makes him an outlier for sure. But initial salary wise there are plenty of 20 years old working for Google and similar top companies in NYC making over $150k first year if you include salary, signing bonus, stock and match. Those engineers are all around 22 23. Long term this guy will probably own a business though and far exceed salary of even top companies.

No, he's not. Plenty of people like him in banking, consulting, and tech making as much, if not more. He majored in the right thing and went to the right schools. That's all it takes. Major in STEM and go to an Ivy/Tier 1 school.
@shera18155 жыл бұрын
@John Davis The ignorant one is clearly you who makes such stupid and ignorant comments like this. Many people like the guy in this video you're watching graduate with STEM degrees from top schools and get good-paying jobs all the time. Don't get mad at me because you're too dumb and ignorant to get into one yourself and get a degree that can get you a well paying job like this kid did.
@shera18155 жыл бұрын
@John Davis You're clearly projecting how much you're one of those losers making under 50k because you're too dumb and ignorant to go get a good degree at a good school to get a good job like this kid and I did. Too bad.

@caleidoo3 жыл бұрын
@@pineapple8048 Why? He's not wrong. Millennials are people born between 1981 & 1999. Some include early 2000s. But most not. Generation Z follows on that, late 1990s, early 2010s. Obviously, you have overlaps. And he's dead in the middle. So he's both.

Some folks think 1994 is the cut off, others 1999 and even 2001. I personally cut it off at 1997. He's definitely a millennial but i don't think he really cares cause he has more important things to do
@terrierlover5 жыл бұрын
Penny Dang 1999 is not the cut off for millennial, that’s already gen z. If the argument is 1994 or 1996 cut off that’s more believable.
@terrierlover5 жыл бұрын
Matt Sarff yes it is depends on who you ask. Some thinks 1994 is the cut off and that person would be 25. Some thinks 1996 is the cut off that would make person 23.
