COASTERS: Fishing for Lake Superior's LEGENDARY Lake Run Brook Trout

Fishing for coaster brook trout on Ontario’s western coast of Lake Superior! Coasters are a migratory form of brook trout native to the Great Lakes. These days, their range is only a fraction of what they used to be, but they’re still plenty catchable. Riley, Landan, and I spent several days fishing for these legendary natives. A couple bycatch species later, including a super rare northern Superior brown trout, we finally managed to find some of these incredible fish.

You should Come out to Prince Edward Island Canada next April we have a unbelievable sea run brook trout fishing in are estuaries in the spring they get as big as 8lb and are very fat and cromed up

Tough fishing. You guys should try the nipigon river for those big brookies next time. Also the surrounding lakes are extreamly clear and have massive pike in them. Definitely a trip I want to do sometime in my life.

We actually did try Lake Nipigon our first day of the trip, but we had motor issues and were only able to catch some pike and lakers before we had to call it. A couple days after this video was filmed, we tried the river for a day and once again had motor issues 🥲 fortunately I was able to catch both my PB native brook trout at 18” and my PB lake trout at like 26-27” before that happened though. Definitely going back with functional motors hopefully this year haha

@TheMasterCaster see if you can swing by Pasha lake or the surrounding lakes especially if its too windy. Even from the Satallite view you can see they are super clear. A couple good youtube videos of guys catching multiple 40's a day out of those little lakes.

Its sad you guys are surprised to catch those there there should be plenty of them. They went the way of the dodo just like everything else. I moved to the pacific northwest for fishing and our fishery in washington is tanking because of native nets.

@@TheMasterCaster yup. I am from traverse city. I actually moved out west about 8 years ago. Watching your show reminds me of fishing trips when i lived there. I never have enough time to go fishing when i go back to see family unless my cousins are in town. I barely keep any fish any more. Anything big i release. Spawners.
