For me the ranking is the same with the exception of die hard 3 being my favourite and the first die hard being second. I think their both amazing films but the chemistry between Zeus and John tips it over the edge for me.

i like that die hard 2 tapps into the whole x-mas theme again. Just gives 1 and 2 this extra time of the year rewatch window. I also like the upscaling from 1-5, meaning set in a tower, airport, city, country and international. With 5 this is the only positive though...

Great vid Cody! Anyone who watched you will know your list(from worst to best: 5, 2, 4, 3,1. And that’s before watching the vid). Here’s my list: Starting with one movie of this franchise that I genuinely hate: 5. A Good Day To Die Hard: worst McClane and villains ever! The film that made this franchise to drop from my favourite action franchise to my third favourite(Lethal Weapon and Mission Impossible are my faves now). Jai Courtney was in some of my least favourite films of the last decade, and this number 1. Now for the the two movies I really like from the franchise: 4. Live Free Or Die Hard: a great sequel! When I first saw it I didn’t like it but it because I thought it wasn’t edgy enough. But it grew on me because I like the plot and villains... 3. Die Harder(Die Hard 2). As a stand alone film I think is less better than 4, but as a sequel it’s really fucking great, just like Halloween 2 is to Halloween or Home Alone 2 is to Home Alone. The villains are mid tier but the action is still top notch... now for the films I really love(both of them are in my top 10 favourite action movies of all time): 2. Die Hard With A Vengeance(Die Hard 3): a great movie with great villains, great plot and the best sidekick... the last 20 minutes weren’t my favourite, but I still love the shit out of this movie!! 1. Die Hard: best action movie, best action hero, best action villain and best Christmas movie. Do I need to add more??

I have the same ranking. I need to re-watch the second one. It's been 15 or 20 years and I never really cared for it just because it was like watching the first film again but in a less interesting location. I remember when Live Free came out, a lot of people didn't care for it but It exceeded my expectations. It got a lot of comparisons to Speed 2 because of the rating.

I knew the 5th one was going to be your number 5, and yeah, totally agree with you there. The one, I think my brain tried to save me from remembering it until you brought up. It was that bad. Needless to say, was surprised this video was sooner because I thought was only the 4 movies. And of these 4, tough call, as I just enjoy each of those.

I really think you should rank the sidekicks. I said in another post yesterday that Part 2 struggled in that area the same way they did with there not being one true villain. You could make cases for several characters. Which is why I go 5-2-4-1-3 with my rankings - Zeus was the best sidekick by far enough to overtake the negligible Hans vs Simon difference as villains. I love Al but he never challenged him once while Zeus basically out-McLaned McLane. He called out all his bullshit and and I really love how he said *Do you want to think of the problem at hand?! * when John was complaining. Al was just not as good at being SLJ than SLJ was.

Great ranking Cody of the die hard film series. Personally for me die hard 2 is my favorite die hard film and die hard 1 and 3 would be my other favorite die hard films to watch. The reason why I like the second one more is because of three reasons, one there’s a lot of brutal action, two the plot twist with Major Grant, and three a great performance from William Sadler. But no matter how different our rankings are at least we can agree that this is a great franchise, “without the 5th movie”!

I pretty much agree with your rankings except for die hard 2 I think it's definitely the darkest and most brutal of the films and it should be #3 instead of live free or die hard. Terminator 2 is my favorite movie of all time.

I'd swap the top 2 places, even though I agree with your comments on the ending of 3. I think everything that gets us there is better than Die Hard 1, and I just enjoy it more. It grabs you from the beginning better than any other Die Hard film. But Die Hard 1 is also near perfect and sustains it's quality through to the finale better. 4 is just great and I've never watched nor felt it needed the unrated cut. Die Hard 2 is still a good actioner. It is best for all invovled to not discuss the remaining film I feel...

I'd say Die Hard is my favourite movie of all time also, I watch it every Xmas without fail, & in-between. I fear they've waited too long to do another Die Hard movie, but if they do, Sam Jackson has to be in it. The movie would require some reunion scenario. I like the idea of a new Nakatomi building being opened & John is invited as a guest, and perhaps brings along Zeus.

I just think they up the stakes with 2 main villains, I love the airport setting, I think they got more explosive action, and I love the final fight, I think the plane explosion is better than any of the other die hard movies.

#5 A Good Day to Die Hard What can be said just very thrown together cash cow. #4 Die Hard with a Vengeance It's great but it lacks its emphasis on John or his relationship with anyone in the film. #3 Live Free or Die Hard This is a very rewatchable action movie. #2 Die Hard 2 This could be #1 if it just gave John a better ally. I still love the maintenance man but it was lacking just in a supporting character like Holly, Al or even Argon. #1 Die Hard It's not a perfect film but it's definitely as perfect as an action film can be.

5. A Good Day to Die Hard (2.5/10) - a stain on an iconic franchise. what the actual fuck. literally anything 4. Live Free or Die Hard (8/10) - a great modern action film, love the analogue McClane in a digital terrorism scenaro! 3. Die Hard 2 (8/10) - a pretty good sequel and a lot of fun, but not AS good as 1 and 3. 2. Die Hard With A Vengeance (9/10) - criminally underrated sequel! Simon Gruber - ‘nuff said. Worst: Do I even have to say its 5 or why? 2, I echo you with it being the most derivative. I like the side characters way less than Justin and Samuel, villains too. 3, if the ending was as good as the rest of the movie it had a chance of outshining the first one I saw but, as is, nah. I love my top three though. 4, I saw this when it came out and I was like seven when it came out. Olyphant has been a staple of my life since I saw Dreamcatcher at the age of three. I love him in this. I also love Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Justin Long. 1, When I saw this I was only a little tiny bit shocked I loved it more than four, given the two and a half years I didn't see any other Die Hard movies but four. I don't remember when I found out it even was a sequel. I can't explain why this movies top but you know anyways theres hundreds of reasons.
