We live in metro ATL and have been since '06. I didn't get my voter card this year. I checked my registration and lo and behold it was listed as inactive due to returned mail. My address had been changed (a 6 spontaneously morphed into a 9) on the voter rolls. We have not moved, my DL has not been changed/renewed. EVERYTHING remains unchanged since I last voted (with the voter card mind). This change, had I not caught and corrected it, would have ment that when I went to vote that due to my address on the rolls not matching my license, I would have been given a provisional ballot that could have been easily challenged and tossed. Check your status people.

"Kids" (my 4 kids are either side of 30 - #2 is 32 today!) are generally far more sensible and caring of others than before. Younger people tend to lean left and in the past, drifted right to some extent as they got older. But watching mine and their friends, they're sticking with fighting for equality! Being older Gen Xers, my husband & I grew up fighting for equality (both sets of our parents were born before WWII and so didn't like anything right leaning. We're European so you can imagine that they were particularly not keen on right-wing politics!). Like most of our friends, we haven't gone right, but I have seen some others do it. I've seen older generations going against their experiences and lean right, too. But more and more are no more right-wing than they are centrist, which over here is pretty much the more "easy going", "live and let live" attitude. Sort of capitalist but with an unshakable belief in looking after those in need (free healthcare, benefits, etc). With any luck, over the next few generations, the far right will be nothing but a minor nuisance worldwide! (You have to have some hope for the future, eh?)

Registered about 6 weeks ago, got my voter registration card 2 weeks ago, and voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!! Voting Democrat for every race Im eligible to vote in! Also voting by mail. Ballot should be coming pretty soon. I was going to vote for president Obama, but during that election you had to have all kinds of reasons or difficulties or whatever to get a mail in ballot, and at the same time, the Republicans running this state Eliminated over 50% of the places you could vote in person and couldnt find out where I was supposed to vote. They wanted to make sure a lot of people didnt get the chance to vote and I was one of them. NOT THIS TIME!!!!

As a comedian once explained: Trump is surrounded by a group that translate what he says into something they can get behind. As far as these voters are concerned, he is simply... inelegant, where you and I might see his ramblings as more incoherent. To said voters it is was the core concepts that they *have created for themselves* within Trump that matters and not his performance behind a podium. The Debate though... there was no translation that lacked incoherence! What Trump said up there couldn't be spun, even in their own minds.... Worse for him: The laughter Trump had to endure from his opponent resonated with his base in that same way his speeches could have. To see another showing the same confusion and then laughing, it was like being guided towards the joke. The 'undecided voters' could rewrite that act of defience, and a few others that Harris did that night, into a candidate they could support. It worked on me and most of my family... and that is saying something as we are Californian, and we know her past behavior better then most. But I can get behind the way she put Trump in her place, it was... professional.

To check voter registration, call your county's Board of Elections. They will check it for you. In my case, the online state check was finicky and did not find me even though I have been registered since '82 and receive my voter notices w/o fail.The BOE easily found me. It also is easy to register. Trump is a figure head for an authoritarian coalition that has been building for years. The genie is out of the bottle. We must work together. Roll up your sleeves. I don't understand how you can be enthusiastic about Republicans running as democrats. The 2nd amendment isn't about guns. It doesn't mention one word about actual guns. Because it's about Washington's army that froze and starved without boots or food. It's about maintaining a military force and ensuring that soldiers didn't die due to lack of supply ever again. Harris and Walz clearly don't get that and just Don Chump it up to get a couple of morons that can't accept the fact that the only firearms in existence when the amendment was passed in 1691 were French made flintlocks to vote for them. Gun manufacturers didn't exist and neither did gun enthusiasts. The oldest gun manufacturer is Remington and they didn't come along until 1816. None of these facts ever penetrate the mass of conflicting impulses that our public officials are. Harris seems no different. Just another tick on our skin. Her and Trxmp are grossly similar in the way that neither of them can speak intelligently on a single issue. Speaking emotionally with pack of slogans in your pocket doesn't qualify.

Congrats! I'm a US citizen living in Poland and will do the same shortly. Just to clarify for people not familiar with absentee voting abroad--it's not actually online voting. You get your ballot emailed to you, but you must print it out, mark it and mail it in or turn it in at the nearest US embassy or consulate. Voting purely online is not, to my knowledge, possible to secure completely against cyber attacks.
